Ok Who is up for a 6 week challenge?

Hey all! I have not been to the gym yet, so I can't post anything regarding loss or workout success...I'll be heading there soon, so I will post again then. I just noticed a lot of people putting down that they want to drink more water during this challenge, which I believe to be awesome! It really does help. Here is my little two cent idea... I know you have all probably seen those Nalgene water bottles, so now my suggestion is to buy one! I have both a large one (32 oz) and a small one (16 oz), and it helps me to keep track of how much water I am drinking. I aim to drink either 2 large ones or 4 small ones a day, which is the recommended 64 ounces. It's just an idea! I have mine all decked out with Tinkerbell and I just love it! So, just a little idea, it really helps raise my awareness as to how much I am drinking. I'm gonna run up to Lifetime now...I'll post again soon! Hope everybody is having a good start on the challenge!

This is my first post to the WISH board, but I would like to join y'all and get myself in shape. I have a cruise coming up in June and I want to look nice (and fit into a particular dress) by the time I go. I started my efforts yesterday, so the timing is perfect!

Here are my goals:

* Lose 10 pounds.
* Eat REASONABLY. I am not a dieter. When I try to go with only low-fat, low-cal, etc., stuff, I usually end up discouraged and quit. So, I'm going to try to eat reasonable portions. This will work better for me.
* Limit myself to 2 Cokes during the week and increase water in-take.
* Exercise a minimum of 30 minutes/day, each day.

Here's what I accomplished today:

* Did a strength work-out this a.m. at Home Depot. Had to pick up 9 large Hardie Board siding panels, load on the cart, load in the pick-up, unload at home. If you know how heavy these are, you know this was a strength work-out! ;)
* Walked 1 mile (approx 20 min) during lunch.
* Had a medium Coke and ham/cheese kolache for lunch. (Oops!)
* Had a side salad from Wendy's with low-fat dressing (did not even use the whole package) and a small cup of chili.

I won't always post such lengthy messages, but I want to be sure of where I'm going and how I'm going to get there. Please comment on my food choices if you know they are not reasonable. I truly do not even know how to diet and have found myself eating stuff that's really bad for me when I thought it was good. I look forward to going through this with y'all!

Oh yeah.....My beginning weight (taken yesterday at the Y) is 120 lbs.

I didn't get a chance to post last night,so here's how it went yesterday:

1) WW nutritional guidelines-got all my fruits/veggies, milk & water
2) Did my WATP Walk Strong tape (same as a 2 mi)- I was so lazy yesterday and I wanted to blow off exercising so badly, but I thought about having to post that here, so I just sucked it up and did it anyway. :teeth: I'm glad I did! I feel so much better after I exercise!

Welcome to WISH, GoofItUp:wave:

Ok, First of all what is WATP? I'm lost on that acronym. I feel so left out.
Today has been going better - of course I'm still at work and I don't know what the evening will be like. I will try to be careful. I do intend to ride the exercise bike today and I've got my walking done for the day. I'm trying to drink more water. I'm also trying to get more veggies and fruits into the diet. That will help. I'll know Thursday if my bad weekend hurt me a lot or not. I refuse to step on the scale before then. --Renee

Renee
WATP- Walk away the pounds. It is a series of exercise videos. A lot of us here at WISH use them. They are great, very easy to follow. No need to feel left out now.:D

3 positives for Monday:
1 - went to doc - put me on femhrt, having an ultrasound on Thurs, and bloodwork done - Ok the positive in this is I made a start to get healthier
2- walked my 10,000 steps for today
3- going to take some ME time and read

hey all! sounds like youve all had a good day!

Ive had a pretty good day! I walked at all 3 of my kids schools today ( that should be a couple of miles) I have logged everything in Fitday and I have eaten well! ( well minus the cupcake for Cams bday ;) )

I have had 6 of 8 glasses of water ( its 4:15 here)!

Im just really tired today. Feel like I just need to SLEEP for hours!

Hi Binny!
I want to take this 6 week challenge! The timing is PERFECT for our cruise, since we depart on May 29!! :bounce:

My goals:
* Back to counting my points on paper (not in my head - that just doesn't work as well :teacher: )
* Focus on getting all of my water in earlier in the day
* Hit my next 10% goal -- that goal has been hanging out there looooong enough! Time for action!

Where can I find these WATP videos? I'd really like to check them out! ALso, thanks to mommyflower, I don't feel left out anymore.

Have a good Tuesday everybody!

I had a very good day!

Recorded all my points and stayed within them!

Drank lots and lots of water!

Did my 1 mile WATP for Abs!

The first of what I hope are many, many great new days ahead!

I didn't post yesterday, so I'll add it to today's post. We went to my aunt's for Palm Sunday dinner. I had very small portions of roast pork, baked sweet potatoe with no butter, and a very tiny portion of pasta with one meatball. There were tons of pastries for dessert including cannoli, cookies, etc., and I limited myself to a small piece of Easter bread, and also drank all my water. Today, for some reason, I was in a really good mood, maybe because the sun was finally shining :sunny: even if it was cold. Even having to go to work on a Monday didn't even get me down. I ate very healthy all day, did NOT buy a soft preztel at lunch even though I love them, and tonight just had some salad and matzo ball soup (we're not Jewish, but DH loves to cook foods from all different ethnicities). It was very good and filling. Oh yes, I also logged in all my points on the WW website, and best of all, I did NOT freak when my 18 yo daughter showed me the tattoo she got three months ago, (but didn't tell me until tonight), and it couldn't be more ugly! I hate it, but managed to keep most of my feelings to myself, though she does know how disappointed I am, and not just because of the nature of the tattoo, but that she even got the tattoo in the first place. Maybe I dressed her in frilly pink clothes too much while she was growing up? Who knows?

I am doing great with the atkins induction. I have been very good about drinking my water (I have drank 50+ already). I have found that doing Atkins keeps me feeling full so I really don't eat much. I hope that I am eating enough! While I truly started the diet yesterday I began adapting to it on Friday and since then I have lost 3 lbs. Not bad, although probably only water weight it makes me feel good. I did not get a chance to excercise today (It was snowing here, how depressing). I have dug out my WATP tapes so I will definately do some excercising tomorrow. Hubby is doing well on the diet too, no cheating for either of us. Now if I can only get him to excercise. In response to where to find the WATP tapes, I found mine at BJ's, but Walmart had them for the same price.

binny - Thanks for the tip - I have been to e-bay, I will watch it for a couple days and then probably do a buy it now. I'm excited, is WATP a pretty easy workout? I need something kind of easy (at least to start with) I have fibromyalgia and I have to take things easy at first. I can do almost anything but I tend to get more achy than the average person if I overdo things. I want to get started on it though because I've been taking things a little too easy lately! --Renee

Renee- The one mile WATP tape is easy to follow and not too hard on your body. I started doing it right after doing physical therapy for my neck & shoulder muscles. At first it was a little tough because I had not been exercising due to the muscle problems, but over time it got much easier. Now I do the two mile or the walk strong dvd.

I did ok yesterday. I got in my 6 cups of water. No exercise though. I got the headache I get every TOM and it makes it hard to do much of anything. I still have it now, but it is getting better.
Keep up the good work everyone!:D

I have Fibro too ( just diagnosed) and other than the fatigue have no problems with WATP :)

Im not on any medication yet ( go in tomorrow for another appt to discuss options) so Im just taking Ibuprofen when I need it. The WATP is easy to follow and there is not a lot to it, you WILL feel it though its a good work out!

Okay, here's my check in for today, along with a little venting...

So, I worked out today, went to weigh myself and I am still at the same point...I lost five pounds, but now I have gained back two of them...I don't want to relinquish (sp?) my 5 lb. clippie! But how did these two pounds sneak back in? I have been working out so well...every single day. I wish I have been taking count of inches, because I feel like I have changed a little bit, not much obviously...but UGH! I am so mad! My friend said that it is probably because of muscle accumulation...I HOPE SO! Feedback anybody?

Anyway, today I did 2.5 miles (25 min) on the elliptical, 125 crunches (mixing it up a bit to work different parts of my abdominals), and swam laps. Felt good...now my muscles are starting to feel tight, but it's almost like a rewarding feeling.

As for the mental health aspect of this challenge...I am on break this week, enjoying my time alone. My parents went to Florida and I have just been bumming around their house, relaxing, working out and getting my stuff in line for the rest of hte semester...Never underestimate the value of a mental health week!

Good job and good luck to all! keep up the good work!

I love the WATP tapes, Renee. I have been a couch potato for 30 years, but no more! I am WATPing my way to better fitness! On the tapes, they give you instructions for modifying the movements and usually one of the exercisers will be in modified mode. At first, I used the modified movements but I soon was able to do it all. Next, I worked up to the 2 mile tape and now I've got my sights on the 3 mile one.

Ashley, you are exercising so much, I would think that more muscle is a definite possibility for the reason for the 2 lbs. Muscle does weigh more than fat! Water rentention can also be a culprit. Sometimes that will hang around for several days (even a week sometimes for me!) and then disappear as quickly as it came! Here's some :wizard: that it will soon be gone! Enjoy your mental health week--it sounds great! :D

My day has gone pretty well, so far. We had a lunch meeting at work today (do these people ever think of anything but food?) and I did great! I totally ignored the homemade pimento cheese sandwiches on croissants and especially ignored the yummy looking chocolate dessert (some kind of smores type thing!). I just have one more bottle of water to go for the day and I'm going to do my WATP tape when I get off the computer.

Way to go, everyone!! Keep up the great work! :D

today's 3 positives
Made it through a very hectic work day
Took 1/2hr to read (may sit & read more after I make my grocery list for tomorrow)
Walked 1/2hr outside making my steps for the day over 15,000

Checking in for the day:

* Ate reasonably at breakfast, lunch, and supper. Snacked on 16 small pretzels and stayed away from the candy. Drank 3 'mugs' of water.

* Walked 1 mile fast-paced at the Y today. Then (BIG ACCOMPLISHMENT HERE) I ran another mile! 30 minutes total on the treadmill and then did some of the weight machines for upper body and abs.

* Got the kitchen cleaned up -- you know, the *sparkling* kind of clean! ;)

Keep it up, everybody!
