SUCK!!!!

They keep crashing my computer! I don't care about the banner ads, I know the Dis has to make money, but these talking, beeping, popping up add that keep trying to launch software on my compter ads are really pissing me off!

Pop up ads are evil.

I will never buy anything advertised by them.

no pop up ads for me. sorry you are gettting them..I really hate those things.

None for me either! They are beyond annoying!! Sounds like you might have a virus of some sort that is causing them? :confused3

I'm only getting them on this website....Walmart talking to me...some HBO show jumping into my screen and some shakey add that beeps that I can't even look at for fear of dropping into an epilectic seizure. Now my anti-virus is picking up trojans....grrrrr.

Sounds like you need to run a full virus scan, pronto.

We're not running pop-up ads.

Google has a FANTASTIC!!! tool bar that you can install for free. It has a built in pop up blocker AND spell check! I love, Love, LOVE it! :cloud9:

I use Firefox and NEVER get pop-ups. I also use a mac. Not sure if it's either of those things that prevents me from getting pop-ups.

but if this site is the only one open in the browser, and the computer is getting pop ups, and webkathy says there are no pop ups, and I do not get any pop ups, then something is wrong with the computer. Not the site, and a pop up stopper will only mask a more serious problem.

but I do love a browser with spell check. Right with ya there... :wink

Almost sounds like AntiVirus 2008/2009 - nasty little piece of malware/adware. If that is what is going on with your computer, it's truly awful to get rid of. I hope you know how to get to Safe Mode.

agnes!

I have both IE7 and Firefox on my computer. In both of them I went into Internet Options in tools, into Security, and turned off popups. I'm also running Norton, Windows Defender, AdAware, and CA E-trust Pest Patrol. I also have a firewall in my router.

I'm not bothered by popups or viruses.

I just spent the last two hours running a full virus scan and I'm still getting them. Grrrrrr....

Macs aren't generally prone to viruses b/c the evil developers that create them ignore Macs.

OP, I actually allow popups b/c of rewards sites that I do (have to allow popups when doing surveys), but nothing is going on. Since the Dis isn't running any, you've got something in your computer.

There is a really nasty virus that cuases this issue. Most everyone I have heard of that has it has to wipe the computer and reload everything. It is a real pain to get rid of. Good luck!

I've never had a popup ad on the Dis. Sounds like some type of adware. If a virus scan doesn't catch it, download SpyBot and run it on your computer. You'll be surprised how much crud it discovers. Great little anti-spyware program.

In the future, Firefox is your friend. Great browser for minimizing adware. Also fast, and has great add-ons, too.

I would try one of the various programs out there that detect Ad software. On my computer, they pick up problems that regular virus scans don't. Ad-Aware has worked well for me.

Yes, this is one reason, and it makes sense but it isn't the only reason. Mac OS has tighter security. Before OSX, there were 60 to 80 viruses for Mac, since OSX, there are none. It's an amazing operating system.

Ugh, we had that - what a pain to get rid of. I finally did end up getting something from Microsoft that took care of it.
