This was revived, but I had the same problem and fixed it!

It was anti-spyware 2009. What a pain!!!

You have to go into your C: drive and find the files that were loaded by anti-spyware. There was one that will likely be there, but I don't remember the name. (I got this information by checking google for antispyware 2009 and found a bulletin board where someone had done this.) If you know the date that you likely got infected, it helps. Note any .exe files that are dated that date. Go to task manager, on the application screen and end task for those files. You can then go back and delete the files.

I did this over a month ago and have had no problems since. (and yes, the wal-mart ad talking to you is just plain annoying!!!)

I have Norton and MSN Spy Sweeper. I installed Spyware Doctor and it found lots of stuff that the other programs didn't. You might want to consider another program of some kind to see if it'll help.

I had a popup problem once and I kept running scans. For some reason it took a while before the popups stopped.

Just kidding. I used to get them all the time and only on the DIS. So we in stalled AVG and knock on wood they are all gone

Almost sounds like AntiVirus 2008/2009 - nasty little piece of malware/adware. If that is what is going on with your computer, it's truly awful to get rid of. I hope you know how to get to Safe Mode.

I had this a couple months ago. I couldn't get the norton people to fix it because they wanted too much money to do it. So I had to do it on my own. Luckily the norton website had step by step directions to do it. It took me an entire weekend to get my computer running normally again.
