OK DisGeeks! What are the things that ONLY we Disers know?

Pirates of the Carribean. All these initials really slow me down when reading the posts.

*that the biggest wedgies of all happen at WDW waterslides

*that the surfing on TV looks a lot easier than the actual surfing lessons at Typhoon Lagoon

*that you should always have at least 1 fast past active all day long

*that you shouldn't miss the Fiesta Margarita!

I want to know what this is please?

When I joined last year the abbreviations for everything REALLY through me off. However, after almost a year on the boards, it has become natural. I even have to make sure I say the whole words to my DH when we are talking about our upcoming Jan trip. Believe me, it will become second nature to you and if you're anything like me you will begin to figure them out without even looking them up!!! :rotfl:

Welcome to the DIS!!! :goodvibes

Not sure if this was mentioned, but I got the toll free 800 number from you guys. You all know EVERYTHING.
Also we are the only ones who know why Home Depot can't stock enough Lime Green Mickey paint chips.

Sorry guys, but I thought this thread was things that ONLY DISers know. I was hoping to learn some new things reading thru this thread, being new to these boards, but that really hasn't happened. Now before I get flamed, I'm not knocking these boards at all. I actually did learn the Mickey Tie Dye shirt making here, but that was instructions from somewhere else.

So come on guys - out with the REAL secrets y'all have here.

Here's one about fastpasses... but don't go tellin everyone else! :teeth:

When you get a fastpass and it says (for example), "Return between 1:15 and 2:15pm" it doesn't "expire" at 2:15pm. You can return to the ride anytime after 1:15. We wanted to get FP for Soarin when we were there but the return times were when we would be at dinner at Le Cellier. The CM heard us talking about it and shared that info. Now we use it like that all the time. We'll grab a FP regardless of return time and don't stress about rushing across the park to get back at a certain time.

Actually we were there last week and saw people getting turned away on Sat Oct 7th for fastpasses that expired earlier in the day for Buzz. If it gets too busy, they will only allow people within the time frame in or close to it. Most of the time, they let you go in and barely check but if you are there on a busy night, they don't let people with 1pm fastpasses in at say 8pm. I think too many people are trying this now and by the end of the night last week the fastpass line was almost to Stitch :earseek: it was too crazy!!! I was actually happy they are starting to tighten up on this. At Rockin Rollercoaster, I was there 30min after the expiration and she wasn't going to let me go at first - I then explained that I was there an hour ago and the ride was temporarily closed (which it was) so we went to see Beauty in the Beast - so then she said okay.

I know when we went in May they weren't strict so I am not sure if they are changing or just tightening up when it is super busy.

The Neverland Club is the Kids Club at the Polynesian - where you can drop kids off from 4-12yrs old from 4pm to midnight and do an adults night out. It is set up to be Neverland, you even go thru the nursery window to get there. Most kids love it and you eat from a kids buffet served on the crocodile. You can visit it at daytime hours too - So cute!!

Booking discounted room only rates before and after a package just increases the time you can utilize whatever the package offers, say tickets, free dining etc... but not have to pay rack rate those days. If you check in at say 4pm, why pay the package rate that day since you can barely utilize the benefits. Instead get a discount code rate your first day and continue to a new reservation the next day that includes the package. We did this for the free dining package. I checked in on an AP rate of $79 to CSR the first night since we weren't arriving until 7pm. The next morning, I just went to the lobby and restarted the new reservation and received my package rate with park passes, free dining points etc... It saved me money not to pay rack rate for a night I was barely in it. Same with going home too - if you leave early in the morning. Use the last night on a discount rate instead of the package rate. It is called continuing reservations. Does this make any sense now??

Thanks so much. Do you have to be a guest at the Polynesian to go to the Neverland club? Where do I get more info on this?

I'll look into booking night before and after my package to save money. Never thought of that but you're absolutly right about not wasting a day. Thanks. :cheer2:

I learned about this treat from the DIS board. It is sold at the stand BESIDE the Mexico fast-food stand. It is a layered margarita with various flavors that looks like a rainbow. It packs a "fun" punch. I also just learned from these boards that MGM is now going to have a specialty frozen drink stand near the Honey I Shrunk the Kid's Playground. "Hey, Junior...would you like to go to the playground today?" :drinking1

Thanks tommygirl79. I would have quoted your post here but I can't seem to get the hang of it. How about a little help. What is DH & DS. I know who it refers to but what do the initials stand for? I can't get enough of these boards. Thanks.

OK, thought of another one....

DaVine in AK. Managed to spot her on our last trip and it was really neat. I actually had envisioned her one way and when we actually saw her it was something else entirely. Also, seeing the park guest do a major double take when they spotted her was fun too.

I  DeVine.

There is no key under the mat at the HM, it's in the MUPPETS.

There's a ring at the HM.

That is right. Sorry, had my location wrong. I have the picture, but not a good mental image. :rotfl:

ok ok what is up with the fp I just learned bout the "retrun time" and not having to stick with in the time frame... I was realy hopeing this was true we plan on being in MK on NYE... Any new up to date news on this..

Yesterday was super busy at MK (dreaded Columbus Day week!!), but we used fastpasses for Buzz and Pooh beyond their expiration time. The variation seems to be with business and CM. Both times we went the FP line was really small. We didn't attempt it the last hour before closing when everyone and their brother was trying to squeeze in one last ride.

We'll try FP'ing Soarin' today and spend the rest of the time touring Innoventions.

Best DIS tip I've learned... plan for crowds by either coming early or stick to the non-ride or little appreciated attractions while the crowd herds to FantasyLand.

Oh and go early to a MNSSHP, before the afternoon parade all in your costume. You'll be able to do a lot more rides then, get lots of attention from your costume, then can enjoy the special events at night. Only ride we did was Haunted Mansion because we just had too much fun with the other stuff.
