Why Kill the Messenger??? The NE did not make JE do what he did. Many people gave JE $$$$ to run for President, NOW the $ is being used to support all his lies.

Should the NE just let the story go?

As I stated, I think he is the worst kind of pig but those that are really concerned about how his wife and family must feel about this are NOT going to buy the National Enquirer.

I wish someone would ask Elizabeth Edwards if she is happy the the NE broke this story and is keeping going. I don't think they were doing this to be good samaritans.

Whenever we give any candidate money to run for President, it is a risk. Report the story in a professional manner and then investigate if funds were used illegally. Making it into a three ring circus is only causing the family more harm. Those purchasing these "rags" are condoning what they're doing. As far as embarrassing him, I don't think he has it in him to be ashamed of his actions.

Because in his efforts to cover it up, he may have broken some very serious federal laws governing campaign contributions, distribution of cash gifts of over $10K, tax laws, etc.

I dont care if he is the most powerful man in the country or the guy down the street, he broke his marriage vows, that is disgusting.

And as an American, if this man used campaign funds to cover up his affair or used campiagn funds to hire this tart, I care bc this violates Federal laws.

1. You can't make accusations like that without proof. So, perhaps there will be a time to be angry for that but now isn't it.

2. The grand majority of people who seem so outraged by this are not commenting on him breaking the law re: campaign contribtutions, etc. Most people are commenting on him breaking his wedding vows. My point is, this happens every minute of every day. I'm not saying he's right but I just don't see this as shocking enough to have to talk about it any more than the average joe who cheats on his wife.

I think to most people, someone cheating on a spouse with a terminal illness is especially horrible and demonstrates an incredible depth of betrayal.

Maybe so for you, I don't know your personal situation. I just know that I don't see anything funny about J.Edwards fooling around on his wife, or someone implying that they would be the next one to fool around with him.
I'm just glad it all came out, and that he seems to be dead in the water as far as a public office goes. I know that I got tired of explaining to my kids "why Bill Clinton lied" and hearing everyone say that they didn't care that he fooled around because they liked him. Personally for our family, that isn't the example that I like to set for my kids, or to act like it is OK.

I think it's sad that both John & Elizabeth knew about this affair but went ahead with his presidential run. If he would be set to be the Democratic nominee right now, this would have been a huge mess for the party and the country. He really ripped Bill Clinton about his affair, then he does the same thing. Elizabeth knew about this affair 2 years ago and then stood up and campaigned for him this year. They kept on campaigning even after the initial Enquirer story broke last fall and they denied it. I feel really bad for Elizabeth and her situation but I think she should have stood up to him and not allow him to run with this secret lurking. Or ended the campaign when it came out last fall. It's a slap in the face for everyone who supported him. If he would not have run this year, I would agree he is a private citizen, leave him alone. But he chose to run this year, he opened himself up for scrutiny.
