Oh, A Drunk Little Cucumber!! - F&W Fun with Bro and Sis Nov. 11*UPDATE 6/17* Pg.32

I never go to EMK at AK but I love that you were able to walk right in and ride. That's awesome! I know if I try it in June it will be super crowded and I'll regret it. Oh well.

I am dying to try that breakfast pizza. It looks SO good!

There are few things more awesome than walking right onto an extremely popular ride! Thank you for unintentionally convincing me to go for AK EMH this summer!

I can't find your head! Hahaha what is happening.

ALADAR! So it's not as big a coincidence as it could be considering this is a Disney TR, but I just popped Dinosaur into my DVD player to watch while I'm doing boring stuff. HAHA. Aladar's a good friend now. Btw I'm sure those older men loved your company. Chums.

Yay for Epcot!

I have ALWAYS wanted to try breakfast at WPE!!! But it just opens so late (yes, I know, 9 am is late for me at Disney!! :rotfl:) and it seems to mess up any kind of park plan! You guys had a great idea, AK EMH before going. Your pizza and French toast look awesome. I can definitely see DBF loving that French toast!

Doing it the way we did is a great suggestion. It worked for us really well. Another suggestion I would have is to do it on a DTD day. On longer trips, I like to make a DTD shopping day and get there early, so that would be a good suggestion to. But it does involve giving up a little weeny bit of park time. ;) But it's worth it I think.

A great quick morning stop at AK! I did Primeval Whirl two years ago and haven't had the stomach to do it again since! Even with the refurb, I just don't know if I want to.
YAY Dinosaur!
OMG those cornflake french toast look amazing...
What's on your breakfast pizza? I'm trying to figure everything out. Eggs and cheese and tomatoes.... is that different cheese in a spiral? Whatever it is it all looks really good!

I don't love Primeval Whirl, but since I was letting Chris lead the way, so I said whatever. It's not a must do for me by any means.

The pizza was eggs, cheese, tomatoes, bacon, and ranch. It was really tasty. Not what I would normally eat, but it was really good. Everything was super yummy.

AK seems to be the only park I make morning EMH to. Every time I've gone, it's worked out in my favor. My dad and I went one year on New Year's day, and it was the same thing.

That breakfast pizza is to die for. So worth it.

Thanks! I love it when I unintentionally convince someone to do something. It's so much better than intentionally convincing someone. :rotfl2:

Joining in and all caught up! I'm really enjoying the TR.

Literally laughed so loud that I woke DH up when I read the Drunk Little Cucumber story. Love it.

I haven't tried WPE because DH always wants to go to EoS and for some reason is opposed to us ordering from 2 different places. :confused3 I suppose that everyone has quirks. :rotfl:

There was so much more that I planned to comment on, but I can't remember anything else right now. Looking forward to reading more!

When did Primeval Whirl get refurbed? We've ridden it twice and that was enough for me.

I can vouch for that Wolfgang Puck breakfast pizza being delicious! One of our favorites! Yum!

I'm glad that you've hopped on board. :goodvibes

I love it when my TR titles just come out of nowhere. I try to pull them from the trip itself, so this was a great opportunity. :lmao:

I love EoS too, but I love WPE because of the selection. I'm not downplaying EoS, but it's sandwiches only, as opposed to many other things at WPE. It's definitely worth the visit.

I don't remember when it was refurbed, but I remember it being closed for quite a while. Not that it bothered me, because it's not a favorite of my anyway.

That breakfast pizza is great.

Breakfast at WGP looks yummy. We have never been to DTD in the morning, though. Only afternoon and nighttime. We may have to change that this trip!

Great update. :thumbsup2

It's certainly worth the trip in the morning. I actually like shopping in the morning more than at night, because DTD is much less crowded then. :thumbsup2

I swear, every time you post a picture of you on Dinosaur, I ALWAYS die laughing! :lmao::rotfl2: It's just so random and hilarious, i'm sure the other riders are like, "Oh no! This girl missed the big Dino!":rotfl:I don't think I could pull it off as good as you, but perhaps i'll try on my next trip!

On your breakfast pizza, is that sour cream drizzled on it? It looks scrumptious!

Okay, that carrot cake cookie looks absolutely to die for! I have yet to eat in the Writers Stop, I also try to limit myself to 1 treat a day, and that red velvet cupcake just takes the spot at DHS haha

Words cannot express how excited I am to eat at WPE in Sept! I had the pesto pizza in an airport in Jan and it was SO SO SO SOSO GOOD. Damn, what is it with Disney food and being soo good. Congrats on the 20 pounds lost! That's awesome!:thumbsup2

I love the AM EMH, and the crispness in the air at ak always adds to the effect of it all, it's like you're actually about to go to everest in the morning (okay, not really, it would be a lot colder than that!)

I'm a couple updates back...

I've never had a carrot cake cookies! Or, well, carrot cake in general. Not really a fan. And I've never been in Writer's Stop either. Definitely need to spend some more time in DHS! ;)

Heh, I have no idea which way the monorail goes! So the fact that both of you had a solid opinions puts you way ahead of me. I hope that they got to their party on time.

I have just gone to the Tiki Room for the first time and it seems way more popular in California than Florida but... it still wasn't exactly hopping over there either. Was that lady seriously worried about a seat? It all happens overhead anyway.

If Disneyland put in Philharmagic and the Peoplemover, I'd never leave. Those two rides really save Magic Kingdom. And the castle icicle lights! Such great attractions.

Animal Kingdom morning EMH look amazing. That park really shines when it's empty! So many things to see. And you can apparently accomplish everything super quickly!

I've never been to Wolfgang Puck either! That french toast looks really interesting, I've never thought about mixing french toast and corn flakes.

Haha, I aim to please with my Dinosaur pictures. It is now my goal to do something different each time I go on that ride. I want someone from my car to buy the picture and be like "what the heck". :lmao:

That's ranch on the pizza. It was very yummy.

I try to limit my treats for the day too, so I make my choices very carefully. But the red velvet cupcake is on my list for my next trip.

WPE is so awesome, it's like the absolute best.

Well, you definitely have to make a stop at the Writer's Stop on an upcoming trip. It's a great stop and very yummy.

I know exactly what you mean about the Tiki Room at Disneyland. Everyone loves it there but at MK it's like meh. People just don't care as much.

I was so depressed when they removed the Peoplemover in Disneyland. It was such a stupid choice. Really. They need to put it back stat.

The french toast was really interesting. Not something I would order all the time, because I prefer savory for breakfast versus sweet generally. But it's worth a try for sure.

Both of those Wolfgang breakfast items look very good. I've never heard of Cornflake French Toast, but I bet it is scrumptious. Sharing both of the items you guys got would be a good mix of hearty and sweet, I would think. We'll have to give that a try sometime. :thumbsup2

Glad to see you over here too. :goodvibes

Day 7 – Friday November 10, 2011

For anyone who guessed from my previous update that our next destination was Epcot, you are absolutely right! So, soup for you!!!!

Our plan was to snack around the F&W festival again, but we had just eaten breakfast, so obviously we couldn’t eat at that EXACT moment…..we were going to have to eat about a minute later.

We arrived at Epcot by about 10:15am, which is pretty good timing considering we had already spent the morning at the Animal Kingdom, and we had eaten our breakfast at Wolfgang Puck Express.

Our first stop upon entering was to head to the Land and get fastpasses for Soarin’. We actually got a return time of 5:40pm, which honestly wasn’t bad considering it was a Friday and it was almost 11am at this point.

Soarin’ FP secured, it was off to the next most exciting location at Epcot.

“Just make believe…..you’re a tiny little seed.”

f88298ef.jpg

After that, we decided to head into World Showcase to wander around and see how the crowds were. It wasn’t even 12pm yet, so I figured it wouldn’t be too bad, right?

WRONG! WRONG WRONG WRONG!!!

It was absolutely insane. There were so many more people in the afternoon than there were on Wednesday night. I though the opposite would be true, but it wasn’t. So, I had a mini panic attack. Because, let’s remember, Wednesday, Belgium was out of mussels. I thought they might be out again! I know it was early, but this was a huge deal to me. However, the lines for the booths were a little long at this point and we didn’t want to spend all the time waiting.

We went right and headed into Canada. This went against my better judgment, because the majority of the time, I got right and head into Mexico. Now why would I do that normally? *cough* The Ditch *cough*

Instead, we headed towards O Canada.

406304fa.jpg

cec76fca.jpg

Hadn’t seen it in a while, so we figured this would be a good time. The movie is cute. I like Martin Short. That’s because I love the movie “Innerspace”. Please tell me you’ve seen this movie….

After O Canada, we decided we were ready to start Food and Wining it up. So, we headed to the wine booth in France. I wanted Nuvo….

They were out again!!! This is getting ridiculous people. I don’t know if they stopped carrying it, but I was sad. They still had it advertised and showed the pricing, so I don’t know what the story was.

Well what’s a girl to do?

Get a GGS, that’s what.

0b439219.jpg

I’m still a little disappointed though. Disney Disney Disney, don’t you realize that F&W patrons love their wine?

I’m going to review the food again for the booths, in the same manner I reviewed last time. Here’s a refresher:

I will rate the dishes with a scaling of 0 to 3 stars. 0 is would not get again, 1 is maybe get again, 2 is definitely get again, and 3 is would eat over and over again!

We headed to Belgium, because I was not going to miss my mussels again. We ordered:

Steamed Mussels with Roasted Garlic Cream & Baguette (2 stars)

592ee53d.jpg

Now, I only gave this two stars, not because they’re not good, but because my family in Belgium makes them better (sorry). They’re still worth trying though and were cooked properly. Chris was a little weirded out, because remember he doesn’t like strange textures, but he tried one nonetheless.

Freshly Baked Waffles with Berry Compote and Whipped Cream (3 stars)

88063cc9.jpg

This was HEAVENLY! Tasted almost identical to the waffles that my mom used to make every Saturday for breakfast when I was a child. I don’t traditionally eat them with compote or whipped cream, but it was a nice touch. It was so so so yummy.

Next stop: America

Linda Bean’s Lobster Claw Cuddler with drawn Butter (3 stars)

968ac050.jpg

This was so yummy, the drawn butter was absolutely perfect. My only complaint is that it was too small! I just wished there was more of it. Could eat this all day long.

We headed into the American Adventure after that. We had to do the duo of Hall of Presidents and American Adventure. We made it in time for Voices of Liberty, which Chris had actually never seen. I love their voices. I don’t love the song choices (a little too patriotic for my liking), but they sing them beautifully.

fd029d55.jpg

After I cried during “Golden Dreams” (honestly, who doesn’t cry listening to that song?), we headed towards Italy.

463348be.jpg

I wanted to get my Rosa Regale wine. It’s not technically wine, I know, but I don’t like normal wine, so this suits me.

Well ladies, I don’t have a picture to prove it, but the cutest guy EVER worked in the wine store. And he helped me. I couldn’t get a picture, because I was so flustered. I think when I ordered, it came out a little something like this:

“…..wine…..me…..glass……want……”

Seriously, stop in that store in hopes of seeing him. He was beautiful. Wore glasses too, which I find totally hot.

After I wiped the drool off my face and stumbled out of the store, it was time to head out. Oh well. Couldn’t talk to cutie, but at least I got my wine.

9bd5f949.jpg

I drank my wine and we headed all the way around (I know, this isn’t making sense), to my favorite location. Where would that be?

c2f3a274.jpg

Haha, yeah…..predictable, I know.

This time, we got….

eb5c788b.jpg

A tequila flight!

Note to anyone who travels with me. I will take pictures at inopportune moments and embarrass you.

31180849.jpg

Continued in next post:

Continued from previous post:

The flight was very tasty. Let’s do a drink count, shall we?

1) Grey Goose Slushie
2) Rosa Regale wine
3) Tequila flight

Next stop: Australia

Shrimp on the Barbie with Pepper Berry Citrus Glaze (1 star)

61d68e4b.jpg

It was good, but for myself the only reason that I rate this lower is because the glaze was a little spicy for me, so it’s not something I would necessarily eat again. I’m glad I tried it though. The shrimp was cooked well, it was just a little too peppery.

Up next: Craft Beer Booth

Beer flight of Full Sail IPA, Red Hook Pilsner, and Widmer Hefeweizen.

3a82e184.jpg

These were all very good, but I’m a beer drinker, so it doesn’t take much to make me happy. Long as it’s not Miller, Bud, or Coors, I’ll be fine.

On to: Hawaii

Kalua Pork Slider with Sweet and Sour Dole Pineapple Chutney and Spicy Mayonnaise (2 stars)

Chris really loved this. It was good and I would order it again. The pineapple chutney really made it good, if you like things that are both sweet and savory.

Tuna Poke with Seaweed Salad and Lotus Root Chips (3 stars)

In case you’re curious, Poke is pronounced pokay technically. Chris didn’t like this, but he doesn’t like sushi. Tuna is one of my favorite sushi obtions, so this was right up my alley. The seaweed salad made it sooooo yummy.

Next stop: Greece

Chicken Souvlaki with Tzatziki (3 stars)

f141057a.jpg

I love pita, I love chicken, and I love tzatziki, so this is a no brainer for me as to why I loved it. Chris says that tzatziki reminds him of sour cream (weird), so he didn’t love it. That’s fine, I’ll eat it!!!

Next booth: Canada

Maple and Moosehead-Beer Glazed Salmon with Barley Salad (3 stars)

8fb4dd84.jpg

This day was turning out to be a huge success in terms of us picking foods that were excellent. I am pretty sure that they serve this at Le Cellier, but this was so so yummy. The maple glazing on the salmon is to die for, making it sweet and crusty on the outside. Argh, I want some right now.

Next booth: Ireland

Lobster and Scallop Fisherman’s Pie (3 stars)

This dish took the entire F&W festival for me. Actually, this whole booth did. This was the absolute tastiest thing I ate. It was super hot, because it’s baked. It was beautiful (OMG, I sound like Steven Tyler!). I could eat only that and be happy. Oh that and….

Warm Chocolate Lava Cake with Baileys Irish Cream Ganache (3 stars)

This was our second time getting this, because it was soooo yummy the first time. We couldn’t not get it again.

Bunratty Honey Meade Wine (3 stars)

I can’t describe this properly. It’s sweet, because it’s honey based, and has no dryness to it like normal wine, which is why I liked it so much. So so yummy.

fd61eed4.jpg

434fd091.jpg

Yes, we are super classy and we’re eating on a garbage can. It was so crowded, there was no where else to go!

Updated drink count?

1) Grey Goose Slushie
2) Rosa Regale wine
3) Tequila flight
4) Craft booth beer flight
5) Honey meade wine

I was feeling mighty silly at this point. So what do I do?

Go potty and like a bad mother, I shut Yeti in the door. Honestly, I’m a terrible parent. Hahaha.

1f0cad89.jpg

After I rescued Yeti from the door, we headed back over to Belgium. We had to pick up our remaining items.

Godiva Chocolate Iced Coffee (1 star)

Here’s the main reason I give this 1 star. It’s way to flipping expensive. I’m sorry, it’s not worth the $7.25.

Beer flight – Stella Artois, Leffe, and Hoegaarden (3 stars)

Leffe and Hoegaarden are some of my favorite beers, so honestly what’s not to like?

ad45087c.jpg

7fae223f.jpg

See how tiny the coffee drink is? Sorry, $7.25 that does not make.

Next booth: Portugal

Linguica Sausage with Onions, Peppers, and Olives (1 star)

bd44dd24.jpg

This was another case of something being really yummy, but it was far too spicy for me to eat my portion. Chris happily finished it up though. Again, we continue with the trend of using garbage cans for a table. Don’t judge folks, don’t judge.

Next booth: Morocco

Kefta Pocket (Beef in a Pita Pocket) (1 star)

2f990233.jpg

Just wasn’t my favorite. I couldn’t put my finger on it though. I think it qualified as one of those foods for me that was just meh.

Tangerine Mimosa Royale (3 stars)

a89c73be.jpg

Champagne and orange juice? Sign me up.

Updated drink count? Ahem……

1) Grey Goose Slushie
2) Rosa Regale wine
3) Tequila flight
4) Craft booth beer flight
5) Honey meade wine
6) Belgian beer flight
7) Godiva Iced Coffee
8) Mimosa Royale

Next booth: Singapore

Coconut-Braised, Beef Rendang with Jasmine Rice (0 stars)

I don’t have a picture of this, probably because it was god awful. It had no flavor at all. I though coconut braised would make it super tasty, but it was so overall bland, I would not order it again.

Singapore Sling (1 star)

The drink was a little sweet. I have a picture of it in another frame. A little too sweet, I would likely not order it regularly.

Next booth: Italy

Apparently, Italy was the place to be, because all of the CM’s at the booth were so happy and were singing while they worked. It was an absolute blast….or I thought it was tons of fun due to the quantity of libations I had consumed….

Ravioli Di Formaggio All’Emiliana (Baked Cheese Ravioli with Creamy Beef Bolognese Sauce, Parmesan Cheese (3 stars)

I heard that people didn’t like this, but it was GREAT when we got it. Perfectly seasoned, cheesy, and tasty. Great pick.

Cannolo Al Cioccolato (Chocolate Covered Cannoli Shell Filled with Sweet Ricotta Cheese, Chocolate, and Candied Fruit) (3 stars)

I mean, come on, it’s dessert….

3c4b966c.jpg

Oh oh, there’s the Singapore Sling!!

Next booth: Germany

Apfel Strudel featuring Werther’s Original Karamell Sauce and Vanilla Sauce (2 stars)

I have no picture. Why? You’ll see in a moment. This was good. Not the best dessert (I’m partial to chocolate), but very good.

Why no pictures? Oh, this is why….

e2d36b75.jpg

This was from the beer cart…..I cannot remember what it was. Hahahaha.

Um, maybe we should do an updated drink count?

1) Grey Goose Slushie
2) Rosa Regale wine
3) Tequila flight
4) Craft booth beer flight
5) Honey meade wine
6) Belgian beer flight
7) Godiva Iced Coffee
8) Mimosa Royale
9) Singapore Sling
10) Germany beer flight

At this point, I was feeling pretty good, if’n you know what I mean.

Up next: South Africa

Again, no pictures. The drink to food ratio at this point was a bit unbalanced…..

Bunny Chow (Vegetable Curry served in a Bread Loaf) (2 stars)

Seared Filet of Beef with Smashed Sweet Potatoes and Braai Sauce (2 stars)

I remember these being pretty tasty, but I was concentrating mostly at that point on holding myself up on the crate I was leaning on…..Bahahaha.

Then, the final stops of the night.

Scandanavia (Don’t you love how they lump it all together? Strange)

Swedish Meatballs with Lingon Berries (3 stars)

I’m surprised this picture is straight.

c290a31a.jpg

This was sooooo good, because of the lingonberries that they put on it. Such a good combination. It sounds weird, but oh my it’s not.

Now, somewhere along the way out, I did stop at the Craft beer booth again and got a Purple Haze. Final drink count?

1) Grey Goose Slushie
2) Rosa Regale wine
3) Tequila flight
4) Craft booth beer flight
5) Honey meade wine
6) Belgian beer flight
7) Godiva Iced Coffee
8) Mimosa Royale
9) Singapore Sling
10) Germany beer flight
11) Purple Haze

Now, don’t let this all fool you. This took us FIVE HOURS to complete. I know it seemed shorter as I described it, but it wasn’t. Trust me. So, what better to do than to head to use our Soarin’ fastpasses!

17bea7d6.jpg

28d48fa5.jpg

60ce7774.jpg

Holy shmoly’s, this ride is interesting when you’re…..loopy. Much more interesting than Spaceship Earth. I was so fascinated the whole time.

After we used our FP’s, we had to use two QS dining credits. Remember though, our snacking took place over 5 hours, so we had enough room to eat at this point….oh who am I fooling, when we’re in WDW, we just want to eat all the time.

So we headed back into WS to get our dinner. We decided on the Boulangerie Patisserie, because the dinner options are lighter and I wanted dessert from there.

e438e76e.jpg

1959e7a2.jpg

e951dfa9.jpg

9fd6e33c.jpg

I got the quiche. OMG, I love quiche. They serve it EVERYWHERE in Paris too.

The coup de grace…..NAPOLEON!

c4111142.jpg

Everyone has to get to the patisserie and have a napoleon. You must.

After that, we headed out. It was time to start packing. Tomorrow was departure day….*sob*.

Bye bye Epcot. You were such a good friend this trip.

I cannot wait to do food & wine this year, it looks absolutely amazingly delicious and fun, I give props to you for riding soarin afterwards! I can't do soarin on a regular day, but after 11 drinks, it wouldn't be pretty! Hahah!!

You're going to have so much fun at the F&W festival. It's my absolute favorite time to go.

Basically I just have a stomach of steel. Haha. No problems with motion sickness for this girl.

I have had a lot of those F&W items over the past 5-6 years. There are more I need to have in the future. I go in with the intent of getting all kinds of good things, but after a couple of stops, I am too full to enjoy more. I never get half of what is on my list. :sad2: That Belgian waffle was a favorite! :thumbsup2 The ravioli and cannoli need to move to the top of my list. Yum!

I know nothing about wine, but I am intrigued by this good-looking young man. I will have to walk in to that place accidentally. ;)
