Official Wii/DS Q/A thread. FAQ in first post! Game reviews in second post!

I'm really glad you said something. It never hurts to have some first hand experience (or closer to it). I'll look forward to his review!

And just in case anyone missed the new ticker in my signature--DH (The Horned King) and I are pregnant!!!!

Congrats! Before long you will be checking out all those kiddy games and ratings and stuff:rotfl:

Having a little one on the way just means I FINALLY get to buy 2 of each system..one for them to play and one for DADDY!

My son said they are coming out with (or already came out with) a Wii Iron Chef game. He is a huge fan of the show. Any reviews? Anyone know if it is already out? Thanks!

Congrats harleyquinn and horned king, that's wonderful news. Not only will you not have time to play video games as much but you'll have to budget more to buy them. :thumbsup2

My youngest really likes club penguin and the DS is coming out with a game for that, I haven't been able to find out much about it, is anyone else here looking at getting that.

We have GHWT for the Wii and my boys really like it. I finally played drums and guitar so I know a little about the game if anyone has any questions.

Last weekend my neice and nephew spent the day w/us and they don't have a game system, all my neice (8 yo) wanted to do was create Mii's, the next day my kids erased all of them.:rolleyes1

I am getting ready to purchase RockBand for the Wii...what are the differences between RockBand and GHWT for Wii? Which is better?

Anyone played the Shaun White Snowboarding game? I was originally going to get We Ski but they didnt have it and I came across this one. Is it a good game with the balance board? Should I stick with it or get the We Ski.

have not heard good things about Wii Ski. But we don't have either one. Santa will be delivering Wii Fit and we are probably gonna get the new Raving Rabbids game that uses the balance board.

Tell me more about the new Raving Rabbids game? How does it use the balance board?

Congrats! A new little gamer will be released next year. ;)

:lmao: :thumbsup2
Can someone tell me if Cooking Mama is a good game for the Wii?

Yes, that is one of this threads' favorites. Those that have it, seem to enjoy it. You can search for it at www.ign.com for more info.

I do believe it is out. Search for it at www.ign.com for a release date and more info.

I much prefer RockBand over GHWT. GH isn't as responsive and I prefer RB song selection and career modes. Rock Band 2 has a few new features, but to save some $$$ RB1 is a great option. I like the GH guitar better, but if you've never used either, you'll never know the difference.

Nintendo Power reviewed it this month and seemed to hate it. It uses the balance board for mini games, but you don't have to have the board to play the game. You can find more info at www.ign.com

BigDopeyMom: Here is an article when GHWT came out talking about that and Rock Band.
http://www.msnbc.msn.com/id/27366749/ and another one here http://www.msnbc.msn.com/id/27685403/

There has been some posts on this thread about the two if you go back to right before GHWT came out and shortly after. Also try doing a search on the web RB vs GHWT and check them out.

For us, my boys wanted GHWT. We already had GH3 and they had played a friends RB, so we went with what they asked for. If it's for your kids try to ask them if they'd played one or the other at a friends and if they prefer one over the other.

For anyone looking for a Wii, I was at my local Target today and they had about 50 in stock and I also saw them at Costco last week, so it looks like whoever wants one should be able to find one this year.

harleyquinn, Do you have snow?

harleyquinn, Do you have snow?

Yeah, a nice little coating. Not nearly as much as they kept trying to say we were going to get. Looked like Cuyahoga county and south was getting slammed last night, but we missed most of that.

I just bought these yesterday at TRU (hoping to get the Sonic action figure, but of course, they didn't have any left). My DS is 6 and DD is 8. They loved Raving Rabbids and my son LOVESLOVESLOVES Sonic. These games are listed as E10+. I'm just wondering if those who've have played these new games feel that they may be too violent (especially the Sonic). We don't mind the mild humor, but really don't want them to see "blood and guts". Your thoughts would be greatly appreciated.

If you go to the ESRB website, it'll tell you why a game got the rating it got. If a game has blood it automatically gets a teen rating at the very least.

Put it this way, Super Smash Brothers is rated teen, because it is an animated fighting game. It's a joke to most parents, because their are more violent commercials on during Sat morning cartoons--heck, the cartoons are more violent than a E10+ game.

Thanks harleyquinn!! OK -- DS plays Super Smash Bros at the neighbors and we've rented it, it is pretty tame compared to some things geared to kids. DS thinks he's really cool when he gets to play games that are rated E10+. :cool2:

Anyone play these games yet to give a personal review?

OH DW,,,, what are you smoking????

I think the only reason you like RB1 better is that you like the track list better (which isn't a problem for us since on our 360 i saved all the tracks from rb1)

To answer the question RB2 is FAR superior to Rb1...it plays better, it has better features (the drum trainer, Challanges to name a few) and I actually do agree that the track list form Rb1 is far superior, but the track list on Rb 2 is far from crappy.

for those playign this game on the wii, you are probably better buying Rb1 right now as the price has dropped (or will) down to $139.99....a great deal.

for those with a 360 or ps3...buy 2 and then rent 1 and transport all the tracks to your harddrive.

So can you transport tracks on a Wii?? And if so, how?

(And if not, wahh)

Thanks

NO you can not...the lack of hard drive makes it impossible. (I have like 4 Gb of music for rb and rb2 on my 360 harddrive) in comparison the wii has 512mb of flash memory.

that said Guitar Hero is makign ti so you can download and save extra songs for World tour to SD cards...so maybe Rockband will also sometime soon.

okay I have tried to find an answer and cannot-- so I am coming to the experts. I know nothing about the wii. We have one wrapped for Christmas and I was thinking of getting the littlest pet shop game for DD6. But I cannot find how many people can play this game. I really want to find games that at least 2 people can play at a time. This is supposed to be a family gift and promote family time. :) Does this game allow 2 or more? THANK YOU

Read through a few pages and didn't see anything. Is there a particular "list" anywhere with recommended games via age?

My kids just have "games" listed. We have 3 gaming systems, DS, PS2 and Wii and I would like to buy the best per system if possible.

For example, DS11 wants the new Crash Bandicott game. I have found it higher rated for the PS2 than the Wii. DS explained that sometimes the controls for the Wii can become a pain and actually make a game less enjoyable. The problem with the new Wii Animal Crossing is another good example.

Any suggestions? Kids are DD's 13 and 8, and DS11.
