Official Wii/DS Q/A thread. FAQ in first post! Game reviews in second post!

I'm actually enjoying my Wii Fit, as much as you can enjoy being tortured by Yoga and made a fool of by simple balance exercises. :thumbsup2 I will probably get back to Mario Kart. I never even finished my first round of races before I moved on to the Wii Fit. If you find any good RPG's, let me know.

There are some coming out. There is a sequel to Tales of Symphonia, which was the BEST RPG on the GameCube and one of the best I've ever played. So I'll be getting that for sure. There are a couple more too that will be out this year. If you haven't played ToS and you're an RPG fan, see if you can find it used and play it on your Wii! :thumbsup2

Have you played Tales of Symphonia for GC? If you have, theres a sequal coming out for the wii in November - Tales of Symphonia: Dawn of the New World. The tales games are RPG's.

I take it you know The Horned King?

edit: OOPS!! LOL! I didnt read your above post until now ^^^^

If a word ends in e you almost always drop the e when you add -ing.

Otherwise I think you were pretty clear this time dear.

Teresa--there's no use talking to him when he "knows [he's] not wrong." Trust me. ;)

Remember Justin, the people on these boards are not mean spiritied fan boys that you need to argue with. :teeth:

Anyway, can we get back to the Wii?

I haven't played mine at all in like forever except one little round of Mario Kart. I need me some new games--preferably RPGs!

:teeth: Great minds think alike! Like I said, I absolutely LOVED ToS, so its so cool to have a true sequel coming with the old characters.

The Horned King is my DH.

So where are all the regulars? Are your families still playing? Is your system gathering dust?

Have you all seen the Rock Band Wii commercial? It features my favorite song from RB, Coheed and Cambria's Welcome Home. Very cool.

I consider DS12 my regular. He goes in spurts...plays nonstop for days then doesn't touch it for days.

His latest hits:
Mario Kart~We bought this one, he really likes it. Likes all the different modes and the online play
Boom Blocks~On rental from Blockbuster. DS loves this! It looks boring to me but he's hooked. Looks like some Jenga type block puzzles and you fire at the blocks to bring the towers down in a certain manner. I'm sure I'm missing the finer points here but he thinks it's fabulous.
Geometry Wars~Also on rental from Blockbuster. DS is really enjoying this one too! Some kind of fire at things ala Galaga....not really sure, I don't understand it at all but he also really likes this one.

If anybody wants more details on these, I'll have to ask DS as they are just not the kind of games that interest me I haven't paid attention other than to know that he's very happy with them.

:wave2: Nice to see you!

Sounds like he likes puzzle games. He might like Puzzle Quest. It's an RPG with Bejeweled thrown in the mix. I really like it. I was really addicted for a while, but I haven't played it in a long time.

Meanwhile he won't play Zak and Wikki which is the kind of puzzle game I like. I just can't get him to touch it.

Ahhhhhh so thats why you know him so well! :teeth: :rotfl: Anywho..yes I can NOT wait until ToS to come out! November cant come fast enough! WAIT! What am I saying!!!! First August needs to hurry up and get here (can we say DISNEY trip!!) and THEN November neeedsssssss to get here fast! How much I wanna bet you its gonna be released around Black Friday. And it will be one of the #1 games to get on BF day. Im seriously thinking about replaying through ToS for GC again before November just to refresh my memory and because well, its just that darn good! :lmao:

As much as I felt like putting my head through a wall playing Z-Dub (IGN's term) (aka Zack and Wiki) I still enjoyed it very much and it was pretty challenging at times. ESPECIALLY treasure island and beating the last boss. OMG, it took me FOREVER to get passed it!! It took me 2 weeks to get through treasure island and another 2 weeks (broken up) to get pass the last boss! I felt like throwing the wii mote at the tv screen, taking the game out of the wii, throwing it out to the street and just watch it get ran over a billion times. Thats how frustrating it was!! AND to top things off they are making ANOTHER one! Of course I kinda figured because of the way the game ended - dang those cliff hangers! I tell you what. Capcom really did a number on my brain playing the 1st one. I can only imagine what they have in store for # 2!

I know I'm late to the Wii Fit party, but we just tested it out this weekend! It's fun, although the real exercise parts are hard. We tried yoga & strength training, then mostly played the balance games for DD almost 5.

This morning DS 7 was doing arm exercises in the mirror while getting ready for school! I'm glad to see him working his upper body. He tried the strength stuff and I hope will continue it more over the summer. He has strong legs but needs to work on his arms and abs because he tends to give up on that stuff easily (in karate classes).

About the syncing, the directions are missing a step. They say eject any disk that's in the wii but never say to put in the Fit one!

Any reviews for the Prince Caspian movie game?
I can't speak for this one specifically but we've found that generally the movie based games are not very good. Usually fairly simple and easy to beat. DS12 doesn't bother with any of them now after being disappointed in the past.

It's available for the Wii and the DS. I think it is a budget title too...yep, according to ebay it's only $19.99 for the Wii.

I liked Z&W, but only made it through about half of the game before gettting really stuck and I haven't gone back.

Good job finishing it!

When are you going to WDW? I see from your ticker you'll be there in August like us!

Any reviews for the Prince Caspian movie game?

IGN hasn't done a review and they might not do one. They usually don't bother with movie games as they all pretty much stink. But you can read reader reviews and more info here: http://wii.ign.com/objects/950/950657.html

ETA: I followed the troubleshooting online and it is now working.

HELP!!!!

Our wii is not working this morning. The kids played on Friday and it was fine. I believe they left a game in it.

The light will not come on at all. We have unplugged and replugged, and tried a different plug in. Any sugestions on what else we can try??

Oh, we bought it in Feb of this year and while we play it, it hasn't been heavily used.

Please help!

Any suggestions on a wii game for a 5 year old girl?

Or should we buy her a nintendo DS and a game? She's not terribly responsible and she can't really read yet.

ETA: She really likes animals, sponge bob, pokemon, anything active/sports. Not much of a girly girl except when friends are over.

Mario Kart for the Wii!!

IMHO giving a young child a DS is a BAD idea. It could very easily get broken, the touch screen could get very scratched even with screen protectors.
I would recommend giving a child a DS unless they were about 10 yrs old.

We've had this debate a few times around here. The general consensus is that most children 6 and up can handle the DS with some supervision, but that anyone younger should seek an old game boy advance to teach the kids responsiblity without the possibility of lost styluses and scratched screens.

OP, I would actually recommend picking up some used movie liscensed games likle Happy Feet or the Disney Princesses or things like that. The only time I ever recommend these games is for very young non-readers. You should be able to find them for cheap or rent them from a store. Mario Kart is a great suggestion too.

Teresa, I'll PM you about our trips!
