Official Wii/DS Q/A thread. FAQ in first post! Game reviews in second post!

Can anyone recomend a "get moving" game for pre teen girls?

they have the princess game but that isnt much movement.

They will bowl with us and do the Mona on Wario ware but I havent found anything that they really like that gets the heart rate up. Any suggestions?

Everyone in my family works up a sweat playing Playground - especially Dodgeball. At Christmas, everyone was taking off their layers - nice shirts, pretty sweaters, cute sweatshirts - down to their shirts/t-shirts because of Dodgeball. Everyone would stand in pairs and play.

What about Tennis?

geetey,
is playground worth the $40, i have been wanting, well dying!! to buy it but keep looking at the back and keep putting it down, it seems like the only thing worth it is dodgeball!!, is there any other fun games that we can play, ??

Good question. We had family (over 30 people) coming over during the holidays for 3 days straight. Besides Guitar Hero 3, this game was played the most, but mainly for dodgeball. With that many people (it was DH's side of the family) we had a tournament with teams of 2 going each day. My family is smaller (closer to 18) and we did the same thing on Christmas.

I would say it is worth the $40 if you have a lot of people over who want an active party game. The Kicks game is fun (soccer combined with volleyball) but I haven't tried anything else. If we didn't have family coming in from out of town, I would not have bought it new but would have waited until I could pick it up used.

That probably doesn't help, does it?

BTW, I have been completed sucked into playing Super Mario Galaxy!!! I have 20 stars now! WOOO but haven't picked up Guitar Hero at all. DS has beaten the medium level on GH3 after figuring out how to hammer on/pull off (or whatever it's called! :laughing: ).

I love our wii!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! :banana:

My Wii finally arrived Thursday night, I was so excited to get it, but of course I was going to be out of town for the weekend. I set it up, it's possibly the easiest set up ever, and getting connected to the internet was a breeze! I was really amazed at the weather and news channels, I didn't realize that these were available when I ordered the wii.

Anyways, I only got to play for about 10 minutes Thursday night because I had so much stuff to get ready for my trip. I called home when I finally got to my friends house around 9:00 Friday night, well of course my sister and her boyfriend were playing the wii. Then I got a call at 3:00 am and they were still playing! I couldn't wait to finally get the chance to play around with it myself. When I got home Sunday night I was completely exhausted after having about 8 hours total sleep for the weekend so I didn't get to play with it then either. Finally Monday morning I was able to get into it. First off I love Wii sports, I'm awful at bowling because I get way too much spin on the ball every time, boxing wore me out. My favorite has to be tennis though, I play tennis so I knew this would be my favorite game. I'm really good at the actual matches but am having a very hard time with the training games, I can't seem to aim the ball very well, I will work on it.

Then I played Super Mario Galaxy and am totally hooked, I only have 3 stars b/c I just started but I am completely addicted, I could see it becoming a problem!

The game I'm really dissappointed with so far is Tony Hawk, I for the life of me can't seem to get the controls down. I'm worried because I really liked the previous Tony Hawk games and my favorite game on the gamecube was SSX, I worry that if the controls are similar in SSX I am not going to enjoy it at all. I'm hopeful that I will figure it out soon but I'm not sure.

Well that's it for now, once I try Tiger Woods Golf I'll let you know what I think.

Well i havent picked up any other game for quite a while, i have been busy at GH and have already beat Tom Morello Battle on HArd, i think i have either 1 or 2 songs after that set. It is getting hard but its so much fun now that its a big challenge.

My friend went back and started his own band(previously it was his sons band) so all afternoon yesterday we spent unlocking the easy level on his new band, let me say i managed to get a couple of 100%, i know i did it on paint it black and cant remember what other song. I am soo hooked, they better come out with more versions of this or at least the previous versions for the wii.

I wish we could hook up online. It finds a connection and tests it fine, but from there it doesn't work, and I don't know what to do.

Depends on how your family plays. I think Terry explained well. If your family plays a lot of multiplayer games together all the time, then it's worth it. if you find that you mainly play single player games, then it's not.

Thanks for the reviews!
Glad you're having fun.

If you think the weather and news channels are great, you should download the Browser. It was free for a while, but I think it's 1000 points now ($10), but you can use your wii to surf the internet. We use it a lot for YouTube videos. There are dedicated Wii sites that are specifically programmed to show up well on the Wii including a couple flash game sites, where you can play games that people have made for free. www.wwicade.com is our favorite.

With Tennis training it seem a little more life like. I played tennis in high school and I was amazed how real it is. Depending on how you turn the wiimote you can put back and top spin on which helps with some of the challenges.

We have SSX. DH played it a lot at first (I think it was a launch title?), but we haven't touched it in forever. SSX tricky was a lot more fun. Blur is more like Tricky than the last version though, which I thought was good. I'll let DH tell you more about it, since I don't really play it.

The old games will definitely be released eventually, but it may take a while. Fans also hope that you should eb able to download more songs like you can on the Xbox once the new Wii Ware channel gets going. Plus a new game will probably come out before the end of the year. (Not soon enough, I know)

Does it give you an error code? You can go to www.nintendo.com and enter the code to see what the problem is. if that doesn't work, you can call nintendo, they are very helpful.

I had the same problem that you described with my DS and it was because of the firewall, we had to change the settings.

HARD?!?! :worship: :worship: :worship: I don't know how you can get your fingers to move so quickly! That's awesome!! Of course, I sometimes mix up my left and right :rolleyes1 so I am happy to be getting through easy on my own! :laughing:

I think when I was just surfing through everything I saw something about the browser and if I remember correctly it said it was 500 points. How do points work, judging by what you said in your post I am assuming that $1 = $100 points, is that correct? If so I will definitely get the browser, I imagine it would be pretty cool.

I've played competitive tennis for 15 years now (since I was 12). I am a bit dissappointed though because I think part of my problem with the training games comes from the fact that I use an extreme western grip in tennis and unfortunately I am having a really hard time getting the different spins on the ball.

I'm going to give SSX a try I'm sure, maybe I'll rent it first. I actually enjoy SSX 3 more than any of the other versions out there.

Yep, you usually can get 2000 points for $19.99 (sometimes less on sale, but very rare).

I could see where you'd have problems with Tennis. Good luck!

I think Blur is kind of a cross between Tricky and SSX 3 with Wiimote motion thrown in. It was too hard for me, but you might really like it. Definitely give it a rent.:thumbsup2

Guess what everyone???????

I am so excited that I just can't hide it!!!!!!!! You know, you know, cause I got my Wii!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Well it's not here yet, I ordered from Game Stop online and it will be here this thursday!!!!!!!! Just in time for the weekend! This is all what I am getting~ It was $474.93 for it all. But I was so sick of running around trying to find one and I was done with being bummed out every time I could not find one.

This Nintendo Wii Family Bundle includes the following items:

* Nintendo Wii system (system, remote controller, nunchuck, stand, sensor and Wii Sports)
* Wii Memory SD 1.0GB
* Wii Charge Station (Dual port rapid recharging dock, 2 rechargeable NiMH battery packs, rubberized battery covers and 6 foot power cable. *Does not include additional remote controllers)
* 1 additional Wii Nunchuck Controller
* Wii Play with Remote
* Mario and Sonic: Olympic Games
* Rayman Raving Rabbids 2

searched and searched, but found nothing...so going to ask it here. I think I Just got my Wii online now. So which VC games do you all recommend? We have NO classic controllers -- only the wiimotes (2 of them) and GC controllers (4 of them I think). I downloaded the browser already, and Super Mario 3, and Legend of Zelda.

Beth

High School Musical is on sale today for $29.99 (Reg. $49.99). Amazon's deal of the day.

http://www.amazon.com/High-School-M...tag=380-20&s=videogames&qid=1201078160&sr=1-4

I would jump all over this, but it doesn't come with the mic, which kills any kind of deal. Unless you know where to find the mic really cheap?

We've been getting asked this a lot lately. And unfortunatly there's not much I can say. We haven't downloaded anything yet, cuz we haven't seen anything we really want to play. My best advice is to look through the games available and if something really catches your eye, look for the review on ign (they've reviewed just about all of the VC games). Nintendo Power also has a monthly column dedicated to new releases. My library has a subscription, so that's a good way to look through the mag if you don't already get it.
The games list which controller they need to be played, so just make sure you don't download something you can't use.

Congrats on your purchase! I was looking at their website and saw the bundles available.

I was at Target on Monday and they had about a dozen or so copies of Guitar Hero but I didn't buy it!?! My sons bday is over 90 days away and I thought if I bought it now and we didn't use it until his bday if something was wrong with it I wouldn't be able to get a refund or return it. Now I have to hope that I can find it again in about 2 months. I wasn't even shopping for it but they had a bunch of them in the main isle so it couldn't be missed. Hopefully I didn't miss my only chance at buying this in the next few months.

I've seen them multiple times at different stores in the last week or so. I bet they are getting easier to find. Though you may notice a dip of availablity before Easter, so watch out for that.
