Official Wii/DS Q/A thread. FAQ in first post! Game reviews in second post!

Just thought I'd pass on the info that Super Mario Galaxy won game of the year in IGN's yearly awards for videogames(this is across all systems...not just the wii)

Not only did the editors at IGN choose Mario galaxy for the game of the year...the readers of IGN also chose it!

Talk about a unanamous decision and a game that is simply a cut above the rest!
It was definately my GotY!

Wow! It beat Halo and Mass Effect! Sweet!

We bought the latest Madden every year since we've own GC so he is very familiar with them. He also plays NCAA 02, 03 & 04. He is very competitive and rarely loses (however I think he plays too easy of a level). Right now he's in the middle of some season he created on NCAA football so he won't play Madden on the Wii until he finishes it.

He creates these seasons and they last like forever!! Oh well if all he did was play video games I'd be worried, but he also plays 2 sports year round and is in the band and math club at school, so he doesn't have alot of time to spend playing during the week. He does try to make up for that on the weekend though!:upsidedow

Sounds like it may be because he is so used to the old way that he doesn't like the new way. I lot of people have expressed that.

I say tell him to work on the practice drills. Once he gets used it, he'll see how much more fun the new way is.

We are in process of exchanging friend codes with a friend. What games will we be able to play with each other?

I just posted a link a couple of pages ago. I just googled "Wii wifi list."

The big games are Guitar Hero, Pokemon, Battlion wars 2, Call of Duty, and Madden.

There are tons more coming, including the biggie Super Smash Brothers! Which I think we need to tell you all more about...I'll let DH do it. lol

Speaking of friends, I have quite a few friends pending on GH3...helloooo... :)You need to enter the codes I sent you! :teeth:

I played a friend for the first time tonight. Totally fun!

Thanks. My search would not work.

No problem! If you are considering buying a game just cuz of the friend thing, ask me about it first, k? I wouldn't want you to get something that doesn't really let you play each other.

Oh and that link was like 5 pages ago, so I don't blame you at all for not seeing it! Sorry about that! I should probably add it to the FAQ.

Speaking of Smash Brothers...I just read on IGN, it has been delayed until March 9th. This game better rock when it comes out!

My Wii finally shipped, it should be here by the 22nd! I'm so excited, of course I'll be out of town this weekend so I may not even be the first to play it. I told my sister not to take it out of the box till I get back but she said her boyfriend could set it up, I still say no. I want to be the first one to play it!!!!! I'm the one that shelled out the money :)

ok well this morning i managed to get thru the next to last set on GH3 on medium, i just need to do the encore and then 3 songs and then its the big faceoff with lou...thi sis soo addicting~

Did you add me yet? I added you yesterday. :teeth:

I want to buy some Virtual Console games. Which do my fellow Wii-ing Dis-ers recommend?

And we only have the Wiimotes and nunchucks...didn't spend anymore $ to get "classic controllers." Oh, and we do have gamecube controllers, if that will affect our game purchases.

I need more info. Who's in the household? What ages? What games are your favorites? Remember these are old games with mostly bad graphics that are really more for hard core fans to replay. Though there are some that are worth getting.

Have you looked through the games that can be downloaded? Sometimes something can jump out at you. ign has reviews for most of the games and Nintendo Power has a section for them every month. my library has a subscription to the mag, so maybe you can look through old issues that way.

To be honest, even though we have points, DH and I still haven't felt anything was worth downloading. You may want to wait until the Wii Ware channel becomes available. With it you'll be able to download more content for games you have (Like Guitar Hero) and there will be a lot more games to download. You can read more at IGN.

Sorry if this wasn't super helpful! :guilty:

Don't feel bad. You all know what a big gamer I am (duh) and I have only beat 5 songs on Medium (and barely at that). I just have too many other games to play and don't get enough practice.

Perfect Score for Smash Bros.
Japan's largest magazine gives the game a perfect rating!
http://wii.ign.com/articles/845/845816p1.html
January 16, 2008 - The first verdict on Smash Bros. Brawl is in, and boy is it positive. Japan's Weekly Famitsu reviewed the recently delayed fighter in its latest issue, and awarded it a rare perfect rating.

Each of the magazine's four reviewers gave the game a 10 out of 10 and offered up some glowing comments. All reviewers made particular note that the game's single player mode is long and that you can get plenty of fun by just playing the adventure mode. One reviewer even had high praise for the way the game presents its story.

Smash Bros. joins a select crowd of perfect score recipients that includes the likes of Final Fantasy XII, Soul Calibur, Zelda: Wind Waker, and Nintendogs. Japanese shops often post copies of the Famitsu box reviews next to games on retail shelves, so a perfect rating may have some effect on sales.

Although, Nintendo probably doesn't really need much help with this one.

In addition to the review, the latest Famitsu also includes a nearly 200 page full-color Brawl strategy booklet, supervised by director Masahiro Sakurai. Like the magazine, it's all in Japanese, but those who must have all things Smash should check with importers about getting the issue.

To give you an idea...Famitsu has been around for a LONG time...and in their history they have only ever given out 13 perfect 10 scores! MArch 9th is Soooooooo far away!

yes i have added everybody the very first day, was waiting for people to be online..lol...let me know...
