Official WDW Marathon Weekend 2013 Thread-Part 2

All these events really add up. For christmas this year I have asked for Disney gift cards or and funds to support the run disney habit. :) At least it's a healthy habbit! :rotfl2:

Sorry for the newbie question, but how do you know your bib number?

It's on the bottom of your waiver. It'll have your name, shirt size, & the number listed there as well is the bib #

Thanks, now for the waiver. Where do I find that? You see, my problem is that I signed up my DH, DD, and her friend on April 3. So I can't remember what's what...

I do have emails with receipts and confirmations, though.

Any more things I should know and pass on to them? I figured that if they do the running I could do all the admin stuff for them...:)

NO....

If anything, fall back on pace just a bit as you start off the training run.

Note - if you are following a Galloway plan, the long run are really the key runs and the weekday runs are to keep you loose. Likewise, with Higdon's Novice plan, the runs are longer, but most folks really focus their effort on the long run.

Go out have a great long run this weekend and then enjoy Taper

Thanks Coach!

Wanted to add my bib to the list: #3538 for the full! I think that puts me in C.

Go to the RunDisney site and select Marathon Weekend tab. Look in the "runner info" section, and click on "waivers". You should be able to enter their last name and a couple other pieces of info to print out their waver form. They can take this to the expo the day before their race and speed the process of packet pickup. I've copied a link for you below - on that link, you should see the "waiver" tab at the top. NOTE - You'll need to print the waivers for each member doing a race, and a separate waiver for each race event (I think)....

I like the weather for 12/31. Here's praying it stays that way for marathon day.

Having done all my training in the cold/wet/miserable Ohio weather, I would actually rather it be a little cooler at the start (maybe mid 40's), and peak out around 55 when I'm done. Of course, I want it to be warmer the days before and after the race so I can more easily enjoy the parks. ;-)

I know. I wouldn't mind a freak cold snap at the start, LOL. I remember it drizzling a bit towards the end of my run at the PHM. It felt sooooo good.

I agree with you 100% being from Illinois.... :)

40s-50s does sound good. So I see a few midwesterners on here. Is this blizzard/winter storm going to wreck havoc on your running plans this weekend? I'm supposed to do my big 2-0 and hopefully any snow we get is off the trails by then. I don't think they expect much here in our part of IL (maybe 1-2 inches) but the wind will be (already is?) brutal. Hope the big wind is gone by the time I go out on Saturday.

My last 20 is tomorrow, moved up a few days because of Christmas travel. Hoping to avoid any rain and foul weather conditions as well. Seems like training has been going on and on, ready for a taper :)

...sorta'. I did two long runs each of the last two weekends (20 miles two weekends ago, 22 miles last weekend) because I knew holiday stuff would not really be conducive to long runs this weekend. The 20 I did two weeks ago was in a cold rain, and it rained the WHOLE TIME I ran. Last weekend's 22 miles was as good as I could expect! Hope all of you who have your long runs this weekend have gear to handle the wet/cold. Watch for slippery spots too - don't want an injury this close to the big day!!!

I ran 6 miles this morning in the rain but thankfully the temp was only 42F. Tomorrow's run, on the other hand, is going to be on a chilly 13F (windchill of 2F). And I have my 20-miler on Sunday when it will likely be in the 20s for the whole run. All I can ask for is that it not be raining or snowing, and no ice on the ground.

So far, no snow out here in Crystal Lake area, but that might change around 5PM. Temps are dropping to the low 20s by then.

I hate to break the news folks....

I am staying at OKW this marathon. SO What! you may ask. The last two stinking hot marathon weekends were the last two times I stayed OKW. The 2007 marathon weekend was by far the worst weekend for a marathon in my career at Disney. The starting temps were in the mis 60's and the highs near 80. Great weather for spectators and to cruise the parks, but really sucky for running 39 miles. I have a photo in the staging area where my skin was glistening from the temp and humidity. The other year was 2005. The weather was not quite as warm at the start but the high temperatures were quite warm.

So, if folks want a cooler start, I am open to a trade to a grand villa at BLT. My one and inly stay there was the freezer year of 2010.

I'm worried its going to get in the way of mine. We have gotten 15 inches of snow so far today with wind gusts tonight up to 50 mph. I am supposed to do 20 on Saturday, the snow will have stopped but it is supposed to be 20 degrees. This run doesn't sound fun at all but my main worry is falling, the last thing I need to do is break a leg after all this training!
