Little late to jump in, but "Hello everyone"!
I'll be running the Tink. It's my first 1/2 and I've just gotten into running. I've done 2 local 5ks in previous years but never trained for them.
.
I'm getting a little worried about my training because we've been travelling for the holidays (still aren't home...) and my training has been slack lately. I also have been running on our treadmill since I don't like cold, but it looks like I need to get with it and suck it up.
I'll be running the race with my niece, and she just started running (this is her 1st 1/2 too).
I don't have any plans for my race gear so that's another "get with it"! It was good to read this thread because it's refocused me on stuff I need to do. I've never heard of compression sleeves/socks, so I might have to check those out.
I'm also a bit worried when I saw the photos from the other 1/2 because it looks really packed, and I'm worried that my time will get really slowed by people...maybe not though?
Anyway, hello!
Kim

You will find that this is an amazing group of people for support and knowledge on all things Disney, and especially the races. FWIW, this will be my 7th half in 18 months or so. I still feel like I have yet to properly train for one. Not saying that's a wise thing to do . The more you keep at it the more you learn, by observing people, listening to advice here on the board, and learning about yourself with every training run you do. Listen to your body. Remember that you just have to maintain that 16:00 mile, and they don't start counting that until the last runner is over the start line. Depending on your corral, that could buy you some time. Even if you end up in the last corral make sure you are at the start of that corral by getting there early. Good luck, and just breathe, and know you will make it and get that medal. You still have time for some training runs, so get those in. I think its awesome that you are doing this!!! Yes, its a large field of runners but pace is only bottlenecked a few times (based on WDW half and DL half--this is a new course but I'm sure it will be somewhat the same). Most of the time its go at your own pace. You and your neice will do GREAT!!

I can't wait until spring when I can get outside and road bike. Too much snow now. Are any of you cyclists as well?

Glad you got that behind you!
), but I pushed and still managed to finish with a 16:49 pace (which I think is about what my long run pace is supposed to be anyway). I'm very proud of this run too, it is much harder when there's no crowds, nothing interesting to look at, and no medal at the end! I hope to get my body back to being used to going so far, my 10K 3 weeks ago (right before I got sick again) was pain free!
I remember at the Princess there were lots of texts going on very early in the morning among my WISH group. We can do that too.

oh well! I did hear back from a lady about the iron on design for my race day shirt, so I'm so happy about that! The sample she emailed me is so cute...exactly what I wanted! So after I take a few measurements tonight and send to her, she can get those cut out and on their way to me...I always love getting my outfit together!
The ones that did not work were 10 inch inseams...I probably need something closer to 7 or 8 inches at the most. If anyone knows of any, let me know!
