Official thread for Sept. 21 Wonder!

Someone said the new show is replacing the current variety show. It is currently on Monday night. Hopefully someone will let us know how it is and what the schedule is on a 4-night before we go.

I haven't heard anything about the fireworks. That would be nice if they extended it!

So much to do and so little time! The 3-day was even worse. There were a lot of things we wanted to do, but we just ran out of time!

Hi Jott3- Yeah...I've checked out the menu for all 4 nights..and they all look great to me. :D I think we'll probably skip Triton's cuz I think DH will like the food at the other restaurants better. Hmm...maybe I should ask him to look at the menu again just to make sure. I was just wondering whether it will be hard to get Palo ressies for the first night..or does it just depend how fast I get to the ressie place and what other's want?

From what I have heard, the last night on the 4-day is the hardest to reserve for Palo. I have heard the first night is a lot easier to reserve and I remember reading a trip report that said Palo was pretty empty on the first night.

Definitely have your DH look at the menus, though, just in case there is one he doesn't want to miss for some reason. You know how they are! ;)

Hey ChubbyJen... I think that going to Palo on the first night is a great idea! :D

1. That is the least requested night.... I think many want to check out their regular rotation servers and table mates... And for me, the first night is not a good night to plan on leaving little ones in the club for the first time... Also, parents want to go to AP for their kids to see the colors light up. You will probably not have AP as the first nite on your rotation, since you are an adult couple.

2. What a great way to kick off your cruise!

3. You will not miss any of the three main dining rooms.... AP lights up with the colors, and Parrot Cay is supposed to be a really fun and festive occasion.

Hey, is anybody here, like me, totally not used to these gourmet type dishes? I mean, I see certain things, that just sound strange and not appealing to me, are really delicious! I guess I have not been a very adventurous eater... haven't had things like duck, goat cheese, etc... I feel so lost when I read some of the things on the menus!!!

I hope they do the Fireworks too!!!! And, I did read one report that the new show is replacing Gary Delena??? or somebody... And that they were not the greatest entertainer, so this should be great. Only thing is, I hate to have DS sit through all of these shows. So, Dreams may end up being the only big show we see! Hercules is supposed to be good... But can you believe that I have never even seen the original Disney Hercules!!

Wishing, here's your chance to try new things! I don't usually eat too many adventurous things, either, but I was surprised I liked the duck and goat cheese flatbread and some other things I had never had before. You might be surprised, too. Otherwise, it looks like you can always order a plain chicken or steak at dinner.

They replay the nightly shows (as well as the shopping and debarkation talks) on the tv in your room, so at least try to catch them on there if you don't go to the theatre.

Wow! Barb just posted about the new show, The Golden Mickeys... It does sound, to quote her, AWESOME!!!

Great for you that have cruised before. Something new and different! :D

Wishing,

Don't worry. I only eat meat/potatoes. there is always something on the menu for the unadventurous folks. And.....you can have multiple servings.....

No, not packing, just busy!!! Just got DS situated in Kindergarten... And, now he is being moved into the new class they are opening to ease the overcrowding... A good thing, but stressfull !

I am going to shop for dress pants and shirt for him tomorrow. Other than that, he is just going to go in the least worn of all his shorts and T's...

More on my big Palo saga... We are now going to request Palo for the first night! I had hesitated to do that, putting DS in the Club right away on the first night, and hoping that we won't be paged. But, the more I looked at the latest navigators, the more I could see that there was simply NO way that we were going to fit Palo in on that last evening! DS is really looking forward to seeing Beast in Disney Dreams which is on that last night. No way could we miss that!

Hey Jordan and the rest of you veterans... We do cross the Gulf Stream on that first night, right??? Or, do we mostly avoid that on the 4-nite?

It is almost SEPTEMBER!!!!

Ladies,

I come here and see we are almost at the bottom of page 2. While I am excited about the WDW/DCL trip, I have alot going on until then and I am starting to worry about when I will have time to shop and pack.........

I had a nightmare that I waited until the day of the cruise to pack. By time we got to the ship, we were too late and we missed it :(

My busy period just ended so hopefully I will have plenty of time to get things together. I am trying to finish my shopping now. I've also started to set a few things aside so that I won't have so much to pack later. Packing is always a major ordeal for us. I always have to bring so much more than we used to now that we have a little one.

Counting the days until the 21st, I can't wait!

Cathy

I hear you, jordan. I am swamped with work and studying for an exam for another week, so there hasn't been any planning, shopping, or packing here yet, either. I hope someone posts newer Navigators before our trip.

DH usually does most of our packing, so when I mentioned something about it yesterday he was making fun of me. He was acting like me and said "Hmm, do I need to bring both socks?" It was funny at the time. I guess you had to be there, though.

I booked this trip almost a year ago and it is hard to believe it is actually almost here!

LOL about packing the socks!!!

My problem is going to be that I want to pack EVERYTHING! Like I had posted on another thread, kinda like a mini poll. When having to choose, should I pack:

a. Small coffeemaker and my Gevalia Coffee
(love my good coffee!)
b. Small Odor-grabber air cleaner/ purifier fan
(allergies, and yucky smells, ewwww!!)
c. Our Desktop lighted display alarm clock w/ cd player
(nice to see the time at night, and non-disney music!)
d. What the heck, all of the above!!! :jester:

Wow, I thought I over packed! LOL

Hello,

My family will be on this cruise, too. I'm the DW, bringing DH, DS (4), DGrandmama and DGranddady. Can't wait! I've already started packing--if the ship sinks, blame me, 'cause I'm bringing every little luxury I can think of. I'm very into details. For instance-putting together a little backpack of surprises for my DS to discover while we are waiting in line at the port. Includes new Mickey toothbrush, his favorite candies, little toys, squishy fish "snowglobe", other treats. This will keep him busy for maybe ten minutes! I'm having as much fun planning for this trip as the cruise itself. We're from Orlando and have been on many non-Disney cruises from Celebrity to RCCL to the QE2. However, that was before we had our DS. We've chosen Disney this time because we love going to the Disney Parks with DS and are hoping that he will have as much fun in the kids club as we will have dining leisurely without him! Eating is his least favorite thing to do. We're thinking about trying for Palo ressies on the first night--pretty sure he will adjust fine to the oceaneers club. However, feel a little bad about him missing the show at AP. One guidebook suggested accompanying your child to early dinner and not eating, just so child could have the experience, then having later seating at Palo. Others on this board have suggested having two dinners, one at AP and one at Palo. Not sure I feel comfortable doing either one--don't want to sit at a table and eat nothing, but don't want to overindulge and not be able to enjoy the food at Palo--any suggestions?
