Official Star Wars Half Marathon Thread...Jan 15-18th, 2015!!

For those curious there's still VGC availability for studios and 1 bedrooms for Friday, and 2 bedroom and 3 bedroom GVs for both Friday and Saturday. Bet none of those will last... We go to CA for Xmas, so the timing doesn't make sense for us.

For those who want to get their RunDisney fix with 10 medals via 6 races in 11 days though, that would be an impressive connected trip...

And if you can manage to squeeze in the new Castaway Cay challenge as well, you can get an additional 2 medals for doing the 5K there.

Good to know. I am totally unfamiliar with DL.
I was thinking it was like WDW in that it was totally secluded and WAY out of the way from the rest of the world...however if you can actually walk from an outside hotel to the start line..its good to know...since I don't know how much their hotel rooms are right now.

How is the area there (Hojos)? You must have had to walk when it was dark outside to be at a race for an early start time. So I gather it isn't ... creepy...

Not creepy at all. I was by myself and I didn't feel nervous or anything. There were lots of other people walking to the race at that time too so I technically wasn't alone. The closer we got to the crosswalk to the park entrance, the more people there were. I mean on a non race day I wouldn't recommend walking around on Harbor alone at 4:30am but on a race day there will be plenty of folks out there with you. (Hojo's also offers a discount to racers if you call their in house reservations phone number.) And once you're through the Esplanade and into Downtown Disney there are race photogs out taking prerace pics and stuff so you start to feel the excitement right away.

That being said, I'm really hoping to stay at PPH. Love being able to walk right out the hotel doors and be at the corrals already. But it does cost more than twice as much so we shall see...

I should be good and just stay at home and drive, but my legs always hate mt afterwards! If you do end up registering, I hope I finally get to meet you!

Yes! We will definitely have to do a meet up for we can finally meet after all this time! :goodvibes

There was mention of early registration with a Disney Visa? Does anyone know when that will be?

I know there will be mad chaos when this race opens up....I predict it will sell out in less than an hour!!!!

Early registration is DVC/AP only, June 4.

For those who have stayed at the Anaheim Hilton or around that area, do they provide shuttles at that hour (how reliable are they?) or is it better just to walk to the start and back? How long would that take? Similar to the distance equivalent of heading to the corrals from the Epcot parking lot?

There is a link with a map posted above...it looks like all the hotels are relatively close. I booked the Marriot which is about a mile and a half to where the start should be.

I haven't seen any links posted yet so forgive me if this is a repeat.

But for those of you unfamiliar with the DLR area here are a couple maps of hotels nearby

Thanks. That gives me an idea. I think I am happy with the hotel I booked. The money I saved by NOT staying in Disney (unless I change my mind) will pay for a rental car...or something.

When do Disneyland Packages come out? Does RunDisney do packages for Disneyland?

As we'll need park tickets & plan on staying at one of the onsite hotels, I assume this will be the cheaper option.

Wookie party?

I didn't see any details on this only its 99 bucks. I might sign up for it just cause.

I think it's simi like the villians bash after ToT 10 miler, looks like the park is open late for people with party tickets with 4 rides open and food options, looks interesting.

DL typically doesn't do after parties since the races are in the a.m.; this say Wookie Welcome party, so it kicks off the weekend!

I was meaning overall sounds similar to the ToT after party because of it being after parks close and a few rides are open, didn't mean it was after the race, the date and time is clearly stated lol

You did sign up for Avengers, right? I'm hoping to work that Expo and the course or something so maybe we'll see each other then.

Who's planning on running marathon weekend then this? I'm telling myself I'm crazy but I really want to do this!!

I am! Playing w/the numbers for an AP since this got added, so might make a trip at Halloweentime to pick it up before W&D so I can plan FPs for WDW.

I am ~ Dopey, fly home Mon, and then down to DL Fri at lunch for Rebel.

i continue to wonder why they even bother putting various registration prices up when they know good and well it's going to sell out in the first day without the threat of a higher price later encouraging you.
