Official So You Think You Can Dance Season 7 Thread

I am going to guess Robert next. He just doesn't seem to be connecting with the audience - including me. But the judges may keep him.

....I was going to say the same thing....

 you know Neil's dad??!?!?
Kind of. We are only acquaintances.

He was the general manager at the country club that we belong to. This was a while ago that he told us. He left for another position, which really bummed me out because then I couldn't ask him about his son!!!!! (He was a good general manager too. :rotfl:)

Melinda going home was the best decision. And to those thinking Robert maybe next, ITA.

Alex was AMAZING this week and I as others, had to rewind and watch him again AND again. AWESOME! The choreography, FABULOUS!

Loved Ade and Jose, this week. Lauren was amazing (as usual) even with her wardrobe malfunction. :thumbsup2

ITA w/Mia about Kent and the , deer in the headlights ...

Did anyone notice that after Nigel told Billy and Robert they were safe, Robert came down off the stage and I think it was (Ade or Alex) that hugged him and Billy continued past them and Ashley went to hug Billy and he totally snubbed her as Lauren was standing to the far left of Ashley and Billy went DIRECTLY to her. I felt badly for Ashley as I rewound it and played it slowly and she had this horrible frown on her face. :sad2:

OK I had it DVRed and I finally caught up. Alex and Twitch were AMAZING...I didn't really have feelings for Alex one way or the other but I love him now. I knew that was coming with Kent...I love him but his "Kentness" can only take him so far (which is a shame because he really is a good dancer).
Robert does nothing for me. I feel bad for Billy because if he had been in it last season, he would have blown the judges away (the only one who really compared with Billy last season was Jakab? I think that was his name). But this season the guys are just phenomenal.
I of course am glad Melinda went home, I got nervous just for a secnd because I was thinking that that they may keep her just to get rid of a guy. Although I do think that her solo this week was the best I have seen her, I didn't really care for any of her other tap routines.

...one can only watch so many tap numbers...:confused3

I love tap...........love to teach it, love to dance it...........love it, love it, love it!!!

That being said, I find it more entertaining when a group performs it. I was not a huge fan of Melinda's, but thought she was an amazing tapper. Also, what a pretty girl she is.

She does have an amazing face. I know in some of the clips she said that she wanted to be an actress, I wouldn't be surprised to see her in some shows or maybe even movies.

I wish they would tell us what the all stars have been doing since they were on their season. I know I have seen Courtney in Glee. Loved the Garden!

Otherwise - it was very predictible who would go home.

Mark was touring w/ Lady Gaga. Perfect fit.

I had forgotten what his audition was until I watched last week's show. Anybody else think he might be an interesting choreographer?

Billy is an even more amazing dancer in person. He does have reserve in his face sometimes, but the judges have seemed pretty determined to pick on him, why I can't say.

I'm having a hard time w/ a dancing show continually skirting the issue of personality dancers who can't really dance beyond their genre -- last season it was Russell, this season it's Jose. Both guys are great dancers, within limits. Both are charming beyond belief. If you're going to critique the heck out of some dancers "connecting w/ the audience", don't forget to critique the heck out of another's lack of technique.

I'm also smelling something fishy when it comes to Alex getting the 2 winning #'s so far this season. Yes, he danced them amazingly well. But share the wealth. Maybe some of the other dancers might have an opportunity to blow the audience away. The more seasons I watch, the more manipulations I catch & it bugs the heck out of me.

One thing that I said after Alex's routine was how could it possibly be compared to Adechike's hip hop number? They were both hip hop and I really like Adechike but they are in two complete different categories! I agree with you that I don't think it is coincidence that Alex got that hip hop number...just like I don't think it is coincidence that Billy got crunk (?krunk?) last week.

IDK........I just think Alex has amazing talent. Sometimes with dance, as with anything else, you've just "got it". I just love Alex.

Billy did krump (krumping), another form of hip hop.

I think the choreographers modify the routine to the talent. Clearly no one could have done the ballet part of Nappy Tab's routine but Alex. When Alex did the Sonia routine - she also was mouthing "wow" to the cameras while she was working the routine with them. This also works for the other dancers too. I have seen where they are working a move in the pretapes and then it isn't in the routine - because obviously they couldn't master it. You also see them throwing in B-Boy moves in a more classical routine when they have someone that can do that - like Jose.

I am an Alex fan - but I do think they have been very unjustly hard on Billy this year.

Believe it or not Billy is an amazing hip hopper. I would never have guessed it, but DD swears it's true after being in classes w/ him.

I have a problem when they throw in B-Boy or hip hop into routines to help cover a dancer's weaknesses and they get lavished w/ praise. Then they turn around and tell someone like Jakob last season -- we know you can jete amazingly, but be careful of having it in every routine. Not only is the dancer not the choreographer, but that's just not a level playing field.

Heck, they even threw a table into Jose's routine to help hide his lack of technique this week -- then specifically said they didn't want to talk technique, just performance??? I think if they showcase all of the dancers equally the show will only get better.

I believe it! I really think he is amazing and the second best guy there.
