Official So You Think You Can Dance Season 7 Thread

Overall I'm having a hard time watching most of the competitors because the All Stars are so above & beyond, particularly Lauren, Courtney, Mark!! and Allison. I know Twitch & Neil have this same level of talent.

I so agree with this! I notice this even more in ballroom where the amazing partnering is really evident. Anya really looked like she was leading last night, even though I thought Robert was very good.

I also dislike having the all star next to the contestant. I didn't like when they commented or were critiqued. That just didn't seem right.

I really do love most of the all stars and wish there was more on TV for them to showcase their amazing talent. I guess shows like Glee do help this as I have seen some of the alumni on it.

What I have found myself doing this season is falling in love with the Allstars. I didn't love Mark during his season but I LOVED him last night. I have always adored Dominic and he just added to my love last night. Allison!!!!!!!! She is incredible. From that respect, I like the new format.

I agree they are trying not to loose all the girls b/c I think that is definately a possiblility. The boys rule this year. I completely agree with Cat....I could eat Kent up!!! ADORABLE. He could draw Russian folk dancing and be safe.

How about the slap in the face to Travis last night? Nigel was harsh eventhough somewhat correct. That did not look much like a Jazz routine. I would have loved to know what Travis was saying when they were praising Tyce for actually doing a Jazz routine and the camera was on Travis making some comments.

I think it will be another girl going home tonight. I think the only girl that needn't worry is Lauren.

I often get annoyed by the judges comments. Is it really the dancer's fault that the choreography was more contemporary than jazz?
I think Mia Michaels is better as a choreographer than a judge - she gets on my nerves....know what I mean (how often does she say that!~?)

I was sad that Twitch was not chosen this week, since he had such a medocre performance (not his fault) last week.
I feel bad for some of these guys that are not a "tough" and big as some of the male dancers in previous years....

Who reads lips? I was wondering what Travis was saying.

Don't have a horse yet this season. Besides Mark, Pasha, Anya, Allison, and Kathryn that is. Comfort is growing on me too, was not a fan in her season. Oh, and Ade. Kind of love Ade. So shy, yet so strong.

Was hoping for some spoilers since I am in MST. Anybody watching?

I agree with Nigel as to who *should* have gone home. Kind of a ho hum hour, I hate to say...(except for the all stars, yum).

ITA w/Nigel as well, Melinda should have gone! Oh well. I like Ade so I was glad he was safe.

Yup, ho hum is right.

I'm starting to think some of what goes on has financial wrangling by the producers at its core. This show has been through the phenomenon of build them up, tear them down w/ Wade, I think Mia & Mary, now Travis & likely others we don't know about. I think contracts come up for negotiation & the producers begin their scorched earth tactics as negotiation strategy. Watch your back Sonya.

IMO there was a smidgeon of room as far as dance genre between Travis' jazz & Tyce's this week. Only one got bashed. I'm sure it couldn't be because of all the Tom Cruise/Katy Holmes press Tyce has been getting. :rolleyes1

Oh, I have to ask, what is up with those two and Tyce??? :confused3

Tyce choreographed her appearance on the show in season 5, has choreographed some recent awards show? appearances for her recently, along w/ some appearances for Tom -- some w/ J Lo I think?

I was sad to see Cristina go. I think ballroomers are at a huge disadvantage in the solos. I was really glad they didn't let Robert go to keep the boys and girls even. I was really afraid that was going to happen.

Ok, was I the only one that caught the comment that Kat said to Dominique Wednesday?! My jaw hit the ground!!!! Totally agree that Malinda should have gone home, I don't know what it is about her, I just don't like her. The guys are amazing this season!!!!

I did catch it...I have my bf watching the show with me (if he knew I ever told anyone that he would flip) and he waslike WOAH!

Anyway, I still don't like Melinda. I did not think she was that great, I was really surprised that the judges praised her like they did. I LOVED Christina and Alexie, they were both so cute and real. I am sad that they went so soon.

I am actually very involved in domestic violence advocacy and I was a little confused by the DV hip hop dance but then I watched it again and realized that she was fighting back. It was interesting...I don't know how I really felt about it.

Sometimes I just don't buy the dancers' reactions and emotions when talking to the judges. I never felt that way before this season. Robert just seems SO overdone in every response he has to the judges and some of the rest are like that to. But I don't know, I think it must be different in person because I don't see the same thing that the judges see pretty often.

I was glad Christina went home. I haven't understood the lavish praise for her this week or last. It was very telling to me that when they had the top 11 perform & she danced w/ Pasha & Anya that her feet were slow. She dances salsa, how can that be?

DD is assisting at a ballet intensive this week. Yesterday they discussed the show a bit & the teacher said there is a noticeable edge w/ the boys this season & that girls belonged in the bottom three last week & this week. So I guess it's not just the viewers disagreeing w/ the judges. People w/ long-term dance training who understand how to evaluate the performances see it too.

I noticed both ballroom dance styles were in the bottom two this week. I wonder if they're just less popular, generally?

I found Robert's reactions to be fake. I'm liking him less, the more I see of him.

I would have ben fine with either of the girls going home--I didn't think it should be Robert, only because both girls were in the bottom last week, also. I suspect they sent Cristina home because she was dancing sort of close to her style, and still struggled. Plus, ballroom solos always seem to lack something.

II LOVED Christina and Alexie, they were both so cute and real. I am sad that they went so soon.
I totally agree. I think Melinda should have gone home last night. I imagine that she will go next week, or maybe the week after if they want to get rid of a guy, I guess.

I hope you all don't mind me joining in the conversation. I love this show!

I thought Malinda should have gone home too. I really liked Lexy and Christina and now both are gone. Girls aren't fairing well this season.

Even though Billy isn't a crumper I thought he gave it a good try.

Just a thought - all the guys this year are really good, but are smaller in stature guys than before. Do you think the choreographers should take that into account when coming up with a routine?
Not that they can't do moves, but maybe not so "masculine" a character?
The judges keep making comments about the guys not pulling off the strength needed - you needed to eat her alive - now what the heck is that supposed to mean?
