***Official September 2022 Thread***

Pre-pandemic I never had an issue with SW. Seems a lot of flights with all airlines are getting shuffled these days. This will be my first flight since October 2019, so I'm following along this thread over in Transportation - https://www.disboards.com/threads/p...cerns-etc-here.2500174/page-569#post-63949502

I think it’s been common for many airlines based on other threads here and some blog posts… but not 4+ months out? They rescheduled us for a very late flight that still leaves the same day but kinda screws up my plan to get an early park start our first day. There are still options to rebook but they all have a downside of one flavor or another.

Oh man, after reading these posts and the ones on the thread that okw19 posted, I feel like a flight change is almost inevitable... :sad2:

I current have a direct flight down from Vancouver to Orlando but I 100% expect it to change. I think I’ve only ever flown direct once and that was likely when we went in December, so a more popular time than Sept. hopefully whatever they end up with won’t be too bad. When we had booked for last Sept, they change our flight by a full day 🙄. At least that got me a free cancellation.

Which airline are you flying with? I'm flying Westjet from Calgary > Orlando. Currently flying on a red eye flight, and waiting to book a hotel for arrival day in case things get bumped.

Westjet as well but from YVR. I'm getting too old for the red-eye (lol) but have done it multiple times. Wouldn't be surprised if that's what I end up with again. Though I'd consider staying overnight in Toronto if that was my only option.

I think sometimes when its further out it has to do with planes and availability. I usually fly United since I'm 15 minutes from a hub and I had a flight change years back 3 times starting months before I was due to fly because they had just merged Continental/United so they were starting to revamp a lot of the planes, hubs, and crew bases at that time it caused a lot of schedule changes.

My guess is most airlines are still trying to figure out supply/demand in a world that is starting to see the light at the end of the Covid tunnel. Major hubs are likely to see the least amount of changes, but smaller regional airports are probably still not running at full capacity and there's probably enough people not yet ready to return to the sky to have airlines reinvest in those routes more frequently. That of course leads to less choice and schedule changes until travel is back to pre-pandemic levels.

Anyone else feel like they're just waiting for something to do with their trip? I feel like I'm waiting for so many things to finalize. I would like them to drop the dates for the Halloween Party/Boo Bash nights so I can get those tickets. I want my flight home to hit a good price so I can book that and then setup my car service. I'd like to know if the Magic Band + is going to be available before the trip so I can know when I need to either order that or a traditional one. And at some point I need to decide where/when I'm doing my dining reservations.

YES!

Not having solidified park hours, not knowing the Halloween situation... I hate having nothing to do. I can't strategize our days until it's a little closer and we know what crowds are going to be like. I could book our transportation, but with flights shifting... that sounds like a pain in the butt too. I have another complication of a really nice work trip I won for exemplary service that I'm missing- it got scheduled SMACK DAB in the middle of this non-refundable trip. I'm going to try to coordinate with the trip planners to pop over for an event or two to network and take advantage of the fun, which complicates my schedule and I dont' know what day I'd be joining the work folks.

I'm stuck watching AllEars and DFB videos in the meantime... <le sigh> First world problems for sure!

Yeah. I don't love red eyes either, but the price was so good! lol. Ive kept my first day flexible in case my flight is rerouted or bumped. I hope you don't get stuck with the crummy flight you dont want!

I have my park days picked which probably won't change, but like you said, I'd love to know for sure crowds are going to be in a more normal range. In theory I know what day I'd like to do my Halloween party if they stick to the same days of the week they usually have them, but if they don't it could change the days I do certain parks.

I'm right there with you!! I have tentative park days, but even dining is so up in the air until we know which character meals will reopen.

Our plan since last summer is that we would activate APs in August of 22 for a magical year of Disney. Like everyone else, we had no clue the pause would be this long. Now, I'm on hold planning this trip, which definitely happens either way, but also wondering whether APs will be back in time for us to do the birthday trip, Christmas trip, etc.

Anyone stay at the GF last year in the last week of September? How was the weather, and the availability for seating around the pools. Really hoping for more of a resort stay and maybe a few days in the parks.

Well that didn't take long...already lost the direct flights. Sigh. But on a good note, so far it is not the red-eye. But only leaves me with 1 hour and 32 mins to get through customs in Calgary and that makes me nervous...

Way back is through Toronto and while I get in late, I'm coming in on the Saturday so I'm not too concerned.

That's what I'm hoping too. They said there's going to be announcements. Fingers crossed that they mean dates for WDW events.
I'm assuming this too. We did MNSSHP in 2019, and while fun, it was pricey. Has anyone been to the scaled back Halloween events they've had during Covid?

I haven't been, but I wouldn't count on it being scaled back or prices being less if it were. I'm guessing they're going to transition the event from "Party" to "After Hours" like they did for Christmas. For that event they did a return to parades and fireworks and the prices for 2021 were $169-$249. I'm guessing we'll be seeing something very similar.
