Official September 2012 planning thread! List on page 30!

Ok, I have two different layouts for the week concerning which park on which day. The reason for this is I planned the first week based on easywdw.com's recommended park of the day calendar. Then I went back and looked again, and even though he says to avoid the park holding EMH that day, the crowd forecasts for the week we will be there is all 2's & 3's...now if that is accurate, I was thinking maybe we would give the EMH parks a shot, just to be able to spend more time in them. Here is what I have so far:

Plan 1:
Monday: Quick breakfast in the room, head to Epcot for RD. CS for lunch somewhere, dinner reservations at Akershus at 6:55. Illuminations. I don't think you need to RD Epcot, you can take your time to get there you are staying there after dinner so you will have a ton of time to do everything

Tuesday: Breakfast either in the room or food court, get to Typhoon Lagoon for opening and stay a few hours. Probably just snacks at the water park. Back to the room to shower & rest before MNSSHP that night, probably either eating in the food court before we go or a quick CS as soon as we get to MK.
You will love MNSSHP

Wednesday: Breakfast in the room, head to MK for rope drop. Lunch reservations at Crystal Palace at 1pm. CS dinner. We would like to see Wishes.

Thursday: DHS. Breakfast either in the room or at Starring Rolls (I MUST HAVE ONE OF THOSE CUPCAKES!) If we don't eat breakfast there, we are definitely using some snack credits :) Maybe a CS lunch depending on how many credits we still have. Dinner reservations at Mama Melrose at 6:20. I am confused about this one. The reservation I made doesn't say anything about the Fantasmic package. Do I need to call and make that separately?
Yes call Disney Dinning to comfirm Fantasmic Package

Friday: Animal Kingdom. No idea what to do about meals here. I probably want to have lunch at Flame Tree Barbecue just from pictures and reviews I've read here. The park closes at 6 on this day so I was considering holding off on supper until we left AK and spending the rest of the evening at DTD and maybe eating there. Trying to get all these credits figured out is annoying!

Here is my second plan based on the EMH parks:

Monday: Animal Kingdom for AMEMH. Same predicament about meals as above lol.
Tuesday: Same as the above plan
Wednesday: Epcot for PMEMH. Akershus for lunch. CS dinner, Illuminations
Thursday: Magic Kingdom for AMEMH. Lunch at Crystal Palace. CS dinner, Wishes
Friday: Hollywood Studios for AMEMH. Not sure about meals here quite yet. Fantasmic! that night.

Apologies for how long that is! But ANY input y'all can give me is super appreciated! :)

I like either plan, but Epcot PM EMH might be better
its pretty hot walking the world showcase all day

Can't believe I never saw this thread! I am so joining in.

We will be there from Sept. 23-29, staying at POFQ. :D I am so excited! But probably way overthinking things! I was wondering if I could post my tentative plans (or what I have so far anyway) and get some input from y'all who go fairly regularly. I have been before, but not since I was a teenager and I've never had to plan it all myself! LOL the dining plan especially is very new to me and trying to figure it all out is kicking my butt!

AVOID DHS on 9/29
The Twilight Zone Tower of Terror™ 10-Miler Weekend
September 28–29, 2012

We double-dare you to brave dark and ghostly streets haunted by Disney villains. Your commemorative medal announces your towering triumph as you ride thrilling Disney's Hollywood Studios attractions till 3:00 a.m.!

We have not ever done MNSSHP before but our 10 year old daughter is begging us to go. The only night available for us is the first night of the party, Tuesday, 9/11. Historically is the first night a sell out .. crowded event? Trying to decide whether to bite the bullet and buy the non-refundable tickets now or wait until closer to time and see what kind of weather is forecasted.

We have gone to the second party for years and I don't think it has ever sold out...and we have always been lucky enough to have good weather. I am not sure if we will go again this year, so I am waiting to buy tickets until the day of the party. I doubt it will be a problem if we decide to attend.

Lookin good so far!

How many nights are you staying at a Disney resort? If 6, then you will have 6 Table Service dining credits (per person) to use. So far it looks like you only have 3 ADRs booked?

Personally, I like to take advantage of EMH. If you can manage to to get everyone up and out for Morning EMH, that extra hour in the Park can be SO productive!! Evening EMH are more crowded, but they can be so fun, especially as it gets real late at night.

Whether based on EMH or crowd predictions, I would definitively plan your Park days. Once you have your Park plans nailed down , then you can finalize those ADRs. As a general rule of thumb, you can plan on one Table Service restaurant per day (some restaurants are 2 TS credits per person).

Good Luck!

We are only getting 5 credits per person because our first night is reserved separately as a room-only reservation. I WILL figure the meals out eventually! (I hope)

So do most of you who have gone in September in the past feel like the EMH parks would not be so crowded to the point of making it worthless to go for the extra time?

ETA: Sorry, one more silly question, and I KNOW I'm overthinking things, but I'm just hoping the fact that we won't be visiting the Magic Kingdom on the first day (AND that the first time my kids will see MK is for the Halloween party) won't make the visit any less "magical" for them. Sounds silly I know. I just hope we can still get into the park with our party ticket by 4pm so they have some time to take it all in before the party starts up.

I've only done evening EMH at MK twice. Once in May of 2009. EMH were from 11pm-2am and the park was empty. In September of 2009, EMH were from 8pm-11pm and MK was busire than any other time during our trip. We have never done EMH at Epcot.

Despite recommendations to avoid them, we totally enjoy morning and evening EMH.:thumbsup2

Morning EMH is not crowded. They are so worth it, but the catch is you have to wake up very early to be there right when the Park opens.

Evening EMH can have more crowds early on. But the later you stay, the thinner the crowds get, and there's just something special about using that Resort-Guests-only perk!;)

Everyone has a different arrival-day preference...but ours is definitely MK first thing! That first walk down Main Street towards the castle is pure Disney magic, and we just can't bear to delay it. :tink:

MK is our first full day too and up early for EMH!!!

Only been to one morning EMH... that was MK, I did enjoy it but didn't realize only fantasyland was open. Usually, I can't get up early enough to go....

As for evening EMH... it is usually a case of best intentions... have scheduled days to spend even EMH at parks, but usually leave before regular park hours end or slightly after...

I was wondering about that, especially for our day after the Halloween party. Not sure if I'm gonna be able to get everyone up the next morning in time to get the parks before they open, but I don't want to get such a late start that we miss out on too much!

Since it's just DH and myself we stay to the very end of the MNSSHP. Every time we go in September we do 2 MNSSHP. We love the party, and DH likes dressing up as a pirate, whoops sorry my bad...DH likes dressing up as Captain Jack Sparrow. :rotfl2:

We get up a bit later the morning after the MNSSHP. I think if you get to the parks shortly after they open you should be okay. But that really depends on which park you are planning to go to.

Whats really weird is that after MNSSHP the next days park is MK!!! May pull up a bench and just sleep there!!!!! JK BTW!!

We will be there Sept 7th for the day, then leave sept 8th for 7 nights on disney fantasy then stay at BC CL 9/15 after the cruise!! Cant wait!!

I didn't realize this either! Sounds like that alone may make it worth it to go since we can (TRY) to do all the Fantasyland rides early.

The next day's park will either be MK or Epcot. Now I'm leaning toward Epcot. It has PM EMH on that day, so maybe we won't need to be there right at park opening if we can't get up and get going? Just don't want to miss out on FP's for Soarin'! We can move our full MK day to that Thursday, since they will have AM EMH that day. Probably makes more sense, yes? o.o;

Yes PM EMH at Epcot are better than RP at Epcot

Now I am not new to Dis and I did not know that MK AM EMH is for Fantsyland only.

Attractions open during MORNING Extra Magic Hours

Magic Kingdom:

Buzz Lightyear's Space Ranger Spin
Prince Charming Regal Carrousel
Dumbo the Flying Elephant
"it's a small world"
The Many Adventures of Winnie the Pooh
Mickey's PhilharMagic
Peter Pan's Flight
Space Mountain
Stitch's Great Escape!
Tomorrowland Speedway

Add me to the list!! :cool1: Just booked 9/15-9/19 @ CBR today!!! :beach: doesn't look like I'll cross paths with anyone else at CBR though! :(

Friends of ours will be there from 09/15-09/22, so I may be in the area. We are staying at a Value so we can stay longer. We had originally booked there and am kind of bummed that we had to switch. But by going down to a Value and adding the Dining upgrade we got to stay 2 extra nights for $30 more. So I guess we can't complain.

We are going 09/12-09/22 at AS Music.
