***OFFICIAL*** October 2011 - Updated 10/08/11

thanks so much Mousescapper! I was thinking on the day we transfer to FW cabins, maybe we would go to a waterpark for most of the day, this way if the luggage was delayed it wouldn't effect us too much, since i anticipate getting back to the cabins sometime after dinner.

your welcome :thumbsup2

Can't wait to go! it snowed yeasterday and today:(

it's been horrid weather here too...this winter will just not end

Count us in for the week of 10/15-10/23. Staying at POFQ for the second time, already in full planning mode, spreadsheets are printed and we are planning !!!!:thumbsup2

LOVE IT....:cool1:

Mousescrapper, we will have to meet! I'll be the one rolling around too full to move, I am sure. I am super excited about Food and Wine Festival and I wish I had more time there.

I agree...I'm Julie BTW too...or Scrappie ;) I am most looking forward to F& W too...our first experience w/ it....I was orginally thinking of an ADR at EP too...but decided we'd get our fill of food at the kiosks, it's good to bleeze the folks too....I have been to Disney almost every trip w/ my Mom and Dad...she's itching to go back too

A quick question. I can't believe I don't know this, but when can the tours (such as Keys to the Kingdom) be booked? Is it 180 days as well?

that is my understanding...I'll probably double check before my 180 days out (4-19) but figure go online at 6 am (CST) make my ADR's then call an hour later when the phones open to book the tour...

Here's my tentative ADRs. Let me know your thoughts.

So--i need some good suggestions for the last day at Disney. And, any 'must' restaurant i'm missing?

Count me on the list - we are at WLVIllas from October 23-29. Super excited to make our ADR's. Thanks for all the info on this list!

we're doing this too (the B at the Wave) on Wed 19th ...hear about the new buffet addition...read about on the WDW blog...sounds good and a nice price, one guest said $18.99 :thumbsup2

Yep, great minds think alike. When I heard about the Wave buffet becoming a permanent addition I knew how I wanted to end our WDW trip. Trail's End will be a short walk from our RV, but the Wave is just a quick boat trip and sounds so much nicer.

It also sounds like a bunch of DISers may be floating around the F&WF on 10/17. I've been to F&WF numerous times, and Mondays tend to be the best days crowd wise for grazing the kiosks

i like how you made drink beer a priority in the plan. :rotfl:

I'm a huge craft beer geek and every WDW trip I say I'm going to spend some time relaxing just taking in Ft Wilderness while enjoying some brews (in moderation) ... and every year my vaction ends up being a crazy (and fun) whirlwind of park hopping, tours, DTD, boardwalk etc ... This year I'm determined to schedule some time to just do NOTHING, and relax outside during the afternoon or later in the day. We'll see how things really work out though :confused3

I can also forsee DH enjoying the stations by his lonesome while the kids and I enjoy the Kim Possible adventure, the trains in Germany, and some shopping. Then (3 hours later) we'll be back in future world. I'll be standing/watching the kids play with all the interactive stuff.

In previous years, we've had members of our group do the Kim Possible missions during the F&WF. It worked out great. We joined along on the missions and hit the kiosks and shops around whatever missions were currently going on. Food/Wine + Kim Possible is a great combination.

I don't know if you'll have hit Poly overload by the end of your trip, but if your daughter likes Lilo and Stitch, you can add breakfast at Ohana

Glad to hear that about Mondays at F&W since I planned our last full day which is a Monday 10/24 for Epcot :cool1:

I feel like I am the only one not excited about the Food & Wine fest or planning it into my schedule. Can someone assist me with this. We have never been. We normally go in September prior to the F&W starting so I am clueless to the whole thing.

My two cents. . . I think it's a "foodie" thing. If you like food and are curious about other types of food or really into wine, this is the event for you. This will be our first trip to the World, but have done enough reserch and know what DH and I are into to know that we will LOVE this. Not so much the wine part (acutally, I don't like wine at all). In addition to the extra food and wine to par take in, there will be enternainmnent and classes/seminars on wine and food. Of course, the classes will cost, but the acutal dollar amount depends on the class.

I have never been to F&W, DH and myself planned a trip last November that we had to cancel so we are quite excited about going this year. There is something like 21 or more countries with kiosks set up around WS with sample offerings and wines and beers from all over the world. Some of the items you can use snack credits for if on the DP plus as the pp mentioned there are seminars and other food tasteings etc which are hard ticketed events although a few are free I understand.
The also have the "Eat to the Beat" concerts every evening which is free also. It is advisable not to attend the F&W on weekends and Friday nights as from what I have read it is super busy with locals and many who have over indulged in the wine and beer.

My DH and I are foodies, so F&W is really the only reason that we're going back (or at least that he, non-Disneyphile that he is, is going back - we'd just been in December). He doesn't know about the special events; I'm hoping to entice him with those! We don't do the DDP, so snack credits are irrelevant; I'm budgeting for lots of tastings!

I can finally join in! I'm pretty sure our dates are finalized now!

We'll be staying at AKV for one night on Sept 30th, and then we'll be at Pop from Oct 1-Oct 6th. We'll be driving this time around and staying in Disney for a shorter time. The 30th will just be a relaxing day for us after a long drive through the night before. And hopefully we'll have a good nights sleep to get us ready to go on the 1st!

What I think you will find is World Showcase will be more crowded, both due to the extra booths setup for the extra countries & due to more people there for the food, but I don't think it impacts the rides much (at least that is how it felt to us last time we did F&W).

This will be our first time at WDW for the F&W and I know that my dd (11) and I will love this as we enjoy trying new foods (dh and ds's not so much as they're too fussy! lol). If not using DDP snack credits approximately how much would we budget for lots of tastings for the two of us? Are the samples big enough for the two of us to share one? What are the approximate cost per samples or do they vary greatly?

Here is some information about last years festival:

This should give you a decent idea on how much things cost, the different marketplaces, and they have some photos.

That completely makes sense!! Excuse my ignorance! lol Another question then, do you have to do MNSSHP to do the Pirates and Pals that night? We're planning on doing MNSSHP, but weren't planning it so early in our trip (the 21st will be our first FULL day at Disney), but we would still love to do Pirates and Pals that night if it can be considered a separate thing (which I'm thinking it would be since it's at the Contemporary). Gosh I feel so dumb about all this planning. :thanks:
Pirates and Pals cruise is a separate paid events outside of the park, so no park admission/ticket is required. You book in advance, meeta the Contemporary boat dock and go on a little boat ride complete Hook/Smee sending you off. Your capt tells stories of pirates and you park on Bay Lake to watch the fireworks from the lake. Then back to the dock where Peter pan greets you and welcomes you back. it is completely separate from MNSSHP. It is just a boat cruise and you happen to get to see the Hallowishes fireworks if you do it on a MNSSHP night, if not, you see regular WISHES. :thumbsup2:goodvibes
