Wow ... we are getting sooo excited about this trip. I will have to try and work out how to post a picture of us!

I feel the same way I finally found a bathing suit for the trip yesterday after searching for the past couple of months. I told DH now I will lost weight since I bought one :rotfl:

Oh one more thing I am still the one that gets up to take the dog out at the crack of dawn and the one to take her out for her last trip at night :headache:

Same here! I was up at 5:20 this morning because the dog had to go out. DH just kept right on snoring....

Hi everyone. Haven't had time to post in awhile so I just caught up with everyone's summer plans. We won't be going on vacation this summer, but my brother in law is getting married in July so we'll have that to look forward to.

I haven't had time to look at or change any of our booked plans, work has been so busy lately and last night on my way home I found out that I will probably have to put my cat down. He's 15 years old, and I got him when I moved away from NY to Boston where I had no family and knew no one. He became my home. I am so sad. My husband and I talked about it a lot last night, and while we only got the news last night, I really want to be able to stay at the vets with him as long as I need to, so I do not want to do it during the week, when my phone will be going off with people from work trying to reach me and I'll be distracted. And, we don't think it's fair to make him suffer another week. So, it looks like we have to do it today. Our daughter is going to be devastated as well. I think my husband will have his hands full these next couple of days.

Thanks for letting me ramble.

So sorry to hear about your cat. I had to put down two cats within two years of each other and they were both way too young. (7 and 9) I still think about them everyday and DH and I talk about them all the time. They were our family. Just consider yourself lucky to have had a wonderful companion for the past 15 years!

So sorry to hear about your cat. :( I have a 13 yo female cat that I often refer to as my "first baby", so I can imagine how you're feeling having to put him down. :grouphug:

As to summer plans, I'm taking my girls (I have 2 daughters & 2 sons) for a girls only trip to Disneyland in about 2 weeks. My cousin and her daughter are flying in from Indiana and are going with us. We'll only be there for 4 days, but it should be enough to introduce my cousin & her daughter to the magic that is Disney. :worship: We're going to surprise the girls and get them makeovers at Studio Disney 365. They are going to love that!

Other than that, we might take the whole family up to the White Mountains for a 3 day weekend or something. We have a friend that owns a cabin up there. It'll be nice to just escape the heat. It's not unusual to get to 110 here in the summers.

I was thinking of starting a private group on Facebook for a WDW Oct 2011 travel group. We had one for my March trip and it was so nice having people to chat with more one on one. We started some photopass shares on there, chatted about all things Disney (and then some ;)), etc. Would anyone be interested in joining if I started a group?

Hi there, just joining this thread from the "other" Oct thread! DH and I will be in the world on Oct 26th and Oct 30th with a 3 night Dream cruise inbetween. We are staying at Wyndham Bonnet Creek (that is if our resale purchase goes through in time). On the 26th we will be at Epcot partaking in our first F&W and on the 30th we will be attending MNSSHP!! So excited, this is our first trip without kids since 1998!! Well overdue I think!!

Hi.. Bonnet Creek is an awesome resort. It is actually next door to disney's carribean beach resort. Can you ask the title company if they are able to make a reservation for you while you are in the closing process? This way you can secure a reservation and have them send you a guest certificate. :)

Someone, I can't remember who? started a group up. I'm @ work, so I can't get you the info now. I'll be back later unless someone beats me to it!

We really don't have any big summer plans. In a couple weeks we'll be heading to Hershey Park for a day, it will coincide with a bowling tournament my husband is in. Usually we go alone for the weekend, but this time we're bringing the kids. Besides that, I'm hoping to get a couple family day trips in there!

Hellooooo to everybody staying at AKL the same time we are! (10/21-10/30) :cool1:

Yep, there is one on FB already, it was started by Michelle, http://www.facebook.com/#!/profile.php?id=1276016879, (can't remember what her DIS name is), but go to her page and ask her to be friends and put you in the DIS'er OCTOBER 2011 Trips :thumbsup2!

I am so envious of you guys going into summer, we are fast approaching what is going to be a very unpleasant winter. I really dislike winter!! This year is going to be a hard one with all the power outages we are having (our temporary lines can't cope with the demand) and all the cracks in my house including right through the concrete foundations. I am keeping myself busy with mountains of work and planning for our first big trip to the USA.:cool1:

I thought I might post our holiday so far on here as someone may have some tips and ideas for the places we are visiting, I am trying to research everything and don't want to miss a thing!!

LA - 1 night
New Orleans - 6 nights (3 on our own and joining a coach tour for remaining 3)
Balance of coach tour:
Natchez - 1 night
Memphis - 1 night
Nashville - 2 nights
Atlanta - 1 night
Savannah - 2 nights
Orlando - 1 night

Board Freedom of the Seas for a 7 night cruise with ports of call in Labadee, Falmouth, Georgetown, Cozumel

Disney World - 5 nights
Universal - 5 nights

What a fun trip!! I've been everywhere you're going with the exception of Natchez. I'm surprised you're only spending 1 day in Los Angeles. There is soooo much to do there. How come an equal day at both WDW and Universal? Seems like there is so much more to do at WDW. Universal is nice, but I can't imagine doing it for 5 days. Of course, that's JMO. No matter what, you're going to have so much fun!

If anyone doesn't mind, can you link the actual Facebook Oct group? I can try to friend Michelle, but typically you go directly via the group page instead of friending. :goodvibes

We will be taking our Princess on her first WDW vacation in October, Im so excited. Im a CP Alum and former Cast Member, I hope my love for Disney continues with her. Right now she is obsessed with Sleeping Beauty, Ariel, and Belle so we are off to a good start! I would like to join the group to talk to some more people traveling when we are!

I think my husband will have his hands full these next couple of days.

Thanks for letting me ramble.

 Sorry to hear about your cat. We have two (11 & 3) and I've had one other cat for 17 years. Saying goodbye is hard. :sad1:

For us we have no other major summer plans. We typically go one place on vacation throughout the year and that's it. Last year we didn't go anywhere, so we're making up for it going to WDW for 10 days this year. We'll be basically doing some minor house upkeep and beatification. For example next weekend we'll be paining our laundry room and we got mulch today to start sprucing up the front yard. I do get every other Friday off from work through the summer from all the extra time I worked this winter, so I'll have lots of three day weekends before my October trip.

Oh and Nikki I redid some of my ADR's due to the resort change so here is my updated list! :) Thanks!

WOW I would Love to hide in your luggage and tag along!
I agree with the above about 5 days Universal. We wen a couple years ago and did EVERYTHING there in 3 days. The last 2 we were kind of bored. Id throw 1 more Day in Disney and one in DTD

Looks like we will be joining you all for an October 24- Nov. 3rd trip. We will be staying at AS movies. Can't wait!!

Thanks for your feedback everyone, it is appreciated.:dance3: The TAs' here seem to have very little knowledge of the USA aside from LA. We had planned to leave LA and the eastern states on the bucket list for another trip. But Air NZ only flys into LA and then UA cancelled our connecting flight that afternoon and we have to wait until the next day for another one. Plus we have a 8 hour stop over on the way back. So will get a quick look at it.
I think you are all right we need more time at Disney - at the moment we have a 5 day pass and over the following 5 days were going to do Universal, Seaworld and a shopping mall to get all the goodies to take home. I think we might change to a 6 day pass and perhaps stay at Disney the day we checkout and head to our Universal resort later in the day. Otherwise we may come back for a day while staying at Universal, I assume that it is not far and there will be taxis or bus?
