Looks like the party will occur three times the week we are there. We went over the same week last year and it was only there twice that week. Last year we attended one of those and enjoyed it; however, we aren't sure if we will go this year. Even if we do go, I'm a little bummed that MK will be closing early the other two times that week - then if we don't go, that's 3 out of the 7 nights that we can't be in MK for evening parade and fireworks. We certainly will still have a great time, just we like MK the best and now it appears to be an early close on the last two days of our trip.

I'm so happy to have found this thread!!!!:cool1: We went last year for the first time and had a blast! DH did not want to go cause he did not want to spend the extra $$ nor did he want to dress up. He had sooo much fun that he said we would make it an annual event AND he would dress up for it  (who is this man???:rotfl2: )

Don't know what we will be but I'm thinking aout it. Just a word of advice take the heat into factor I saw so many kids that w/in the first hour of the party were SOAKED w/sweat and flushed. Even DH noticed and he's usually oblvious.

We hope to be there the 3rd week of October however, DZ emailed us and said they may be in concert the 1st week of Oct. That means we will change cause DS LOVES:love: dancing to DZ:hippie: .

The Trail behind toontown has a ton of characters you don't usually see. What I remember off the top of my head is that it was Alice themed (in 06 anyways) and that there were a bunch of "cards" and the Walrus!!

And if I remember, the balloons are bright orange and have Goofy on them.

You really do get a TON of candy. I was pretty surprised. It was a Lot of fun.

It's been Alice themed the last 3 years we've gone. That's our favorite place to trick or treat. Lots of candy given out by the cards. We're going on the 18th this year. It's an annual event we wouldn't miss.

This will be our first MNSSHP :cool1: and we'll be there October 20th - 27th. For you veterans - is Monday night significantly less crowded than Friday? Just trying to plan and would hate to pick the busiest night.

Thanks

Im so excited this will be my first MNSSHP! I will definatly be there on the 5th for the Dis meet (check out my siggy if u want more info). Then im thinking I may check it out on the 4th as well.

Hi Cheryl! :wave2: Yep, I'll be there with you! And Lindsey and Jen and. . . :teeth: James and I are going to try to get there on the 4th as well - it will all depend on if I have Friday classes in the fall (hopefully not!).

For the photopass, there are none after the Villians Mix and Mingle, you have to take with your own camera. (Pic with villians)

We hope to get tickets for October 9!! Not sure what our costumes will be yet. I guess I have a little time to come up with something.

we'll be there the week of the 13th :goodvibes -- anyone have an idea when they'll announce the AP or DVC discounted dates? I have to start working on my ADR & itinerary and I'd like to know which night we'll be going to MNSSHP -- the 15th, 16th or 18th.
TIA!

They released that info on April 17 last year.

Yes - it's yet another question about the weather! (Sorry)

I checked to see what the typical weather is for October is high of 85 & low of 65. We'll be there the 16th. I get cold very easy so I tend to panic about this, so here goes. Can I assume that the weather will be nice enough in the evening that we (mostly the kids) will be okay in just their costumes and won't need sweaters? It just depends upon what costume DD will wear and if I can acutally get around to making the coat that goes along with DH's costume.

Thanks!

I've gone to parties Oct 2, Oct 26 and Halloween night twice and it has NEVER been cold. We never needed sweaters or pants, even at night. We were always very hot at night at the parties so we tried to pick costumes accordingly but one year DH wore a Beast costume and he was dying all night and couldn't wait to get it off.

October is one of the most beautiful months in regards to weather. Not much rain, lots of sun, but not too hot (like August) and not cold either.

You can pack a sweater just in case, but I don't think you will need it. Hope this helps.

I know mid-September is a slower time of year, but for those of you who attended the 1st night of MNSSHP last year, how were the crowds? Is everything up and running, or are there some 1st night glitches that you noticed?

I was there last year and aside from having a miserable rain, it seemed fine.

No more free pics, but they do offer 50% off pics of the pictures that are taken that night. Its a separate photopass card than the normal one. The main pictures to get that night, is in front of cinderellas coach, which i if i remember right is by IASW, and then in front of the HM by the doombuggy, (they insert a ghost driver!).

The card last year said Halloween Party pics only for the discount but I (and other Dis'ers) were able to get the discount on the photos from my whole trip after I got home and ordered them online!

Yes, this helps very much!

Now, on to making my costume... :rolleyes1

We will be there for our first MNSSHP on Sept. 28th

DS#1 wants to be an astronaut this year
DS#2 wants to be a fireman (again!)

I have no idea what my mom & I will dress up as :confused3 We might just make some special t-shirts for the night :)

In the past we've gone around the 6th or 7th of October, but we are thinking of going a few weeks earlier this year, so we're looking at either attending the 1st or 2nd night of the party.

We went last year on first night, 9/15. It was also our first MNSSHP. Everything seemed to be running with the exception of Alice's Trail of Treats. We made our way over there since I read about the unique characters who are sometimes there but other than the cards handing out candy (and some were very stingy!) the only other character we saw was Queen of Hearts coming thru (didn't stop for autographs). The first parade was delayed about 15 min. due to rain. The parade and fireworks were great! I wrote a review-here's the link.

I have some pictures too!

Candy lines were shorter at some places, and longer at others. One place in TL was long and then we went back later and it was walk thru. We didn't spend too much time getting candy-how much can you eat? :confused3

We enjoyed eating at LTT that night.

Silly question... are adults welcome to partake in the trick or treating?

Not so silly, yes, every guest gets a trick or treat bag. We had 3, 1 for DD7, and 1 each for DM and myself. I usually walked through treat line with DD and our 3 bags.

Here's a few pix from TR:

You bet that you are welcome to trick or treat. It brought back so many memories from childhood. It was so much fun. There were 6 adults in our party and no kids. We are going to do it this year too!:cool1:

Very cool! Thanks for all the info and for posting the pics - I love them!! We will be there for our very 1st party. We're considering going to 2 of them as I've heard many DISers do. I actually saw a thread with a poll about 1 vs. 2 nights... http://www.disboards.com/showthread.php?t=1394579
