****Official May 2012 Thread**** ALMOST TIME TO LEAVE!!

Question of the Day:
What is your #1 Tip for 1st time visitors? (I know this is hard!!)

Plan, study, learn... there is so much to learn about Disney and I think the more you know, the more you will get out of your vacation. If we had gone on our first trip completely blind, we would've never had half of the experiences that we did.

I also second the going early... we do rope drop everyday - it is SO worth it!

Oh no, it's the only moderate with free wi-fi ;-) [at this point]
Not really the reason I picked it but I just loved the look of it, but did consider POFQ as well due to its size.

Haha, wow I totally ready that wrong too! I was like wow, I guess I am glad I booked early then :) Nevermind! Enjoy your wifi!

Do some research first!!! You need to come with some kind of game plan. DO NOT WING IT IF YOU HAVE NEVER BEEN! You will only get frustrated. Even if you have a rough plan it will help. You can always change it as you go along, but if you walk into a park mid-morning (GASP!) without a plan, you are gonna regret it!

There are MANY more tips, but that is first and foremost in my opinion.

Mine is have a food piece of luggage. I did this on our second trip. Now I fly Southwest so that makes a difference. However, if you have a spare piece of luggage to take down, fill it with snacks to keep in your room. Can also include some breakfast choices. At the end of the trip you have an empty suitcase to put all of your souveniers in it and it helps cut down on some of your expenses since you are having snacks in your room. My family is not a 3 meal a day family so this helped in the in between times.

Question of the Day:
What is your #1 Tip for 1st time visitors? (I know this is hard!!)

Ok so I am going to cheat and say all the PP's for this question are my #1 Tip - But here is a tip that I have held to forever!!

Make the most of your trip! Sounds easy right? Well if it starts raining or the forecast doesn't look perfect to you, don't let it get you down, put some water shoes on, your bathsuit, sport shorts and a tshirt and hit the parks! No one will be there. Or if you didn’t do your research and didn’t make any ADRS, don’t fret! Snack around the world in Epcot or check out a great Quick Serve. Whatever you do, make the most of your trip and don’t let anything get in your way!

Thanks for the welcome!

I agree with getting there at rope drop. It's amazing how much more you can do! I also agree with making the most of your trip, no matter what the weather. Our last trip it rained three of the days we were there. It turned out that those were our most fun days! We walked on everything and had a great time running and splashing through the streets. We rode Toy Story Mania 5 times the day we were at HS and it rained. Just put your poncho on and go!

Add me to your list we are going May 11th through May 17th. We are staying at POR. I have requested a royal refurbished room. Crossing my fingers. My answer to the question of the day is to not try and see everything and do everything that will only leave everyone cranky in your group. Remember you are on vacation it is supposed to be leisurely and enjoyable.

Question of the Day:
Will you drive/fly or take the train to WDW?

Question of the Day:

My tip: You're going to meet some rude people, but don't let them ruin your trip. They will cut in line, jump into your spot if you move half an inch during a parade, allow their children to swing off the chairs in restaurants... etc. etc. Not everyone does this, but prepare mentally for it. And learn to let it go. XD

Question of the Day:
Will you drive/fly or take the train to WDW?

We are driving so we can stop off and visit some relatives the day before we start our trip and the day after. Plus on our one day trip to Universal, we can just hop in the car and go! We will be utilizing Disney Transportation the rest of the time.

Drive. It's 17 hours and a bit of a challenge with little ones, but we think the money savings is worth it. Plus, I want to do a cross-country road trip someday and these car rides are the practice. ;)

Has anyone had luck with online dining reservations? (I've never done them online before) My date opens up this Friday and I'm wondering if it will be better to do it online or to call.

I have always booked my ADRs on-line, and I have never had issues with the system. As long as you have have an account with an email and a password, it should work.

I have always booked our adrs on-line and never had any trouble. We drive to WDW so we can stay at a hotel on the beach for a few days before to relax and rest before taking on the world.
