****Official May 2012 Thread**** ALMOST TIME TO LEAVE!!

Has anyone had luck with online dining reservations? (I've never done them online before) My date opens up this Friday and I'm wondering if it will be better to do it online or to call.

I have been a Disney.com member forever. I typically log into my account 1 time per week. However, the day that I needed to do my reservations it would not accept my reservations! Even though they have been in there for months.

Therefore, no I was not successful :( I even tried it on 3 computers, Internet Explorer, Safari, and Firefox!

But I could just be one person who had problems :confused3

Question of the Day:
Will you drive/fly or take the train to WDW?

We drive to WDW every year. The drive is between 14 and 16 hours depending on traffic and the weather. We usually leave after work and drive until midnight or so and make the rest of the drive the next day. We've done this 16 times and have the route down pat.

I've been making our ADRs online every since they started accepting them that way. I've never run into any issues and have pretty much gotten the ADR restaurant and times that I wanted.

By the way for any of you who are looking for a good deal on little girl dresses or backsacks (for children or adults) to take into the parks, I've just listed a brand new bunch on ebay. Just look for me under Mickeystoontown. If you can't find me, let me know and I'll send you the link.

Thanks I'll give the online way a shot. Does it matter if I have the disney.com account in my name and if our hotel reservation is in my mom's? Or should I make an account for my mom to do the dining reservations that way they will all be in her name?

If you're able to call I would!

I've had my reservation on the website for a while now; the Disney website even shows me a little banner saying "170 days until your vacation", yet when I try to make dining reservations over 180 days it tells me to verify my booking & then rejects my number.

Now Disney tech. support were pathetic - as far as I can tell they didn't even know what 180+10 dining was. Even after 10+ emails the most help I had was that I needed to log in, which would have been fine if I hadn't emailed screenshots of the entire step by step problem showing I was logged in.

Skip the hassle & phone like I did. Save yourself, some of us aren't so lucky. :lmao:

The booking & the reference exist & are correct yet the website hasn't been told. Go figure..

Wil the prices I get from Southwest, the airport is only 20 minutes from my house.... we fly. It's cheaper then driving or close to it.

Well be at CSR around the same time as you

You can try online, but I had trouble with mine on 11/3. I guess there have been some problems (since the change in signature reservations 10/26) with the system not recognizing/accepting that you have a reservation and it does not let you book the +10. I called after trying and trying (I was aware of the problem the night before). I got all my ADR's over the phone without a problem. It just sucked getting up an hour earlier than I needed to.

The feedback (another thread on this board) that I hear is that the people having problems booking online are DVC members. Has anyone heard of anyone else besides DVC members having an issue?

The only trouble I ever had with online reservations is that my upcoming trip in May they asked for my reservation number and did not recognize my DVC reservation number. I had to call DVC to make the rest of my ADR's. Other then that never had a problem. I use my iMac on Safari.

My girlfriend and I are going back for our 2nd trip together for 1 week from the 22nd - 29th and also for a Star Wars weekend! Staying at the Pop. Obviously.

Dining at T-Rex is another obvious choice and almost throwing up my first time eating the whole Bronto Burger is right up there again on my list. My cousins always went in May and they said lines were never terrible nor was it crowded. I'm hoping it's true. I liked my last January trip where we both got off Tower of Terror, then jumped back on it immediately after. We did this about 3-4 times.

Check this out: Question of the Day Summary!
I thought it would be nice to have everything summarized with everyone's answers in one page. That way when new May DISERS come along, they can check it out! :grouphug:

By the way, if you have a question of the day recommendation please let me know! I know everyone has questions on here about our upcoming trip or others experiences. So let me know :woohoo:

Add me to your list we are going May 11th through May 17th. We are staying at POR. I have requested a royal refurbished room. Crossing my fingers. My answer to the question of the day is to not try and see everything and do everything that will only leave everyone cranky in your group. Remember you are on vacation it is supposed to be leisurely and enjoyable.

I hope you get the royal rooms too, I will keep my fingers crossed for you! :thumbsup2

Hmm, second trip with the girlfriend to WDW -- do we see a ring in the future? (:lmao: don't mind me!)

Anyway...welcome to the board! Sounds like you had a great January trip. Where did you stay in January?

Question of the Day:

We'll be driving this time around. We drove the first time & flew the second time. It was only my second time flying EVER and I was a nutcase the day of but I made it and would do it again (but only for Disney, lol). Since MIL is coming along, we'll be taking our minivan and cramming everyone inside (it's still pretty spacious), along with our luggage & a cooler full of goodies. We leave around 7am Friday morning, drive till 9pm that night and stop right around Chattanooga, TN then leave at 7am Saturday morning and by 4pm we should be in WDW! It seems like a long time but it went so well our first time, I'm not too worried. It's only dealing with my MIL that could g et on my nerves. She has some sort of issue with her tailbone and can't sit for long periods of time so I know she'll be wanting to stop more than we would normally be willing to.

I like driving though because we don't have to worry about fitting stuff in our suitcases to take back! We can bring back all we want :) It's also much cheaper than flying for that many people.
