****Official May 2012 Thread**** ALMOST TIME TO LEAVE!!

We love Sci-Fi drive-in. Its dark and cool in there on a hot day and my kids love watching the movies and sitting in the cars to eat. The food there is good and ice cream is always an awesome choice. 50's prime time is good also. Good home style meal and smores for dessert. What else can you ask for? We are trying Mama Melrose's and Hollywood and Vine on our next trip.

Question of the Day:
In Hollywood Studios, what is your most recommended place to have a snack or a full meal?

I really like the Sci-Fi Diner; they did an immense job at theming this place. Just as they did with the 50s Diner with I thought was a real hoot, the waitresses telling everybody (including myself) off was a blast. However my Sister who is very timid actually felt uncomfortable with all the hoopla. However for the average family I think they are both really great options.

If I am going QS then I always head to the ABC Commissary - I think they do different options that you find elsewhere & have never had a bad experience.

If you listen to any of the Disney podcasts no one would go but we love Sci-Fi. The food is no where near the best on property but it's OK and we enjoy the atmosphere. Also, we like to go to the Brown Derby for the Cobb salad. BD is expensive but we go in for just a salad and a drink. The salad is huge and some of the best Cobb salad I have ever had.

Love 50's Prime Time Cafe - it is a lot of fun for everyone! And the ice cream from inside Dinosaur!

Hmm, second trip with the girlfriend to WDW -- do we see a ring in the future? (:lmao: don't mind me!)

Anyway...welcome to the board! Sounds like you had a great January trip. Where did you stay in January?

Ring in the future, yes. Probably. She actually posts on these forums.
So yeah, ring in the future, heh.

We stayed at the Pop Century. Free Donkey Kong in the waiting area is what takes the cake. Our January trip was saved thanks to a friend who is a cast member that got us into 2 parks and Disney Quest for free. We paid for the other 2 days because we didn't want to use all his passes, even though he offered. We plan on it happening again.

Oh, and don't get me started on how they lost my luggage for hours, but ended up getting it back at midnight.

I hate when my luggage gets lost!!! And isn't it great to have a friend that is a CM? My best friend of 16 years and soon to be maid of honor worked in the college program and still works for Dinsey. It was great being able to go to Disney and visit her at almost no cost!

Question of the Day:
In AK, what are some must see attractions? What can we not miss?

We usually do the safari first thing in the morning and grab FP for Expedition Everest. But, we love the Festival of the Lion King and Birds in Flight. There are quite a few attractions at DAK. Just wandering around the trails is great! And we usually save Kali River Rapids for last before we head back to the resort for our afternoon break.

Question of the Day:

Either the Lion King or Nemo for sure... both are great! We love riding Dinosaur. I hope my daughter is big enough to ride it this time around!

Festival of the Lion King, for sure. It's my only must-see show in all of WDW. Great audience interaction, beautiful music, and captivating performances. :wizard:

The attractions that you cant miss at Animal Kingdom is the Safari, Expedition Everest, and Kali River Rapids especially in May its good to cool down with the water.

You are not off topic at all! We love to hear everyones plans! I am sorry you had trouble online, so did I!! But atleast it all works out :yay:

Your plans look great!!!!!!

We just decided to plan a May trip for 2012!!! So BEYOND excited!!

We have our dates set, May 13-19th. We want to stay at the Yacht Club because of their pool. We are praying for a room discount to be released. :wizard:

Decided on a few restaurants already so far.
Kona Cafe for Dinner
Crystal Palace for Breakfast
Afternoon Tea at Grand Floridian.

That's it so far :)

The ONLY thing I am worried about are crowds+heat. We went once over Memorial Day weekend and the crowds were horrendous and it was soooo hot.

I am assuming it will still be just as hot, but the crowds won't be as bad as they would have over MDW... either way, I would rather be in Disney hot and crowded than at home any day!

Anyone have any suggestions for restaurants/ways to beat the heat/ planning anything... I'll take it! Haven't been on the boards much since our last January trip, and am not up to date on new changes, etc.

Going back to the hotel in the afternoon and enjoying the pool is an excellent way to stay cool. We also try to eat around 1 or 2 in the afternoon so we are in an air conditioned restaurant during the hottest part of the day. Then touring more in the late evening when it had cooled off a little and everyone else is having dinner. The next time we go I want to spend some time at the water parks.
