***Official March 2021 Thread***

I just keep telling myself the wait times are NOWHERE near the wait times of March 2019. We waited 180m for SDMT one afternoon and I'm not seeing those wait times right now at all...

Ya I guess at the very least that is something positive. I keep watching the wait times also and I think at max SDMT has come up as 80min. But then people keep saying those numbers are inflated. Holding out hope that next week isn't horrible. I am in that final countdown panic mode now.

We arrive on a Saturday (3/13), could be at a park by noon and had planned to go to Animal Kingdom. Seeing hours extended has me considering a change of plans. Is it crazy to go to EPCOT on a Saturday the second weekend of Flower & Garden??

Saturday - EP 12p-11p
Monday - AK 8a-8p
OR
Saturday - AK 12-8p
Monday - EP 11a-8p

I would do Epcot on Monday even with the earlier close.

i would not worry to much i just checked our flights 2 weeks ago they were all most all booked for the day we go out now they all have open seats just plan for worst and hope for the best
That’s the one thing I hate about flying SW. there’s no way to check how full the flight is without calling

The one way I check my flight is act like I'm buying tickets and put in 8 for the number of tickets I need and it shows me what category I can buy 8 tickets in. Right now all ticket classes on my flights have 8 seats available. I checked some other flights the same day as mine and some didn't have 8 available in all the categories.

Lol I just tried that and both ways had seats for 8 left in all categories. But omg the price!!! I paid around 105 each way and now it’s 426 there and 240 back!😳😳

Hubby and I are staying from the 22nd to the 26th at All Star Music. We’re celebrating our 8 year anniversary and going w/o our kiddos 😢 but we ALL need a break from each other 😂 it’s been quite a year...hoping to use this trip as a chance to see how things are with COVID before we bring our kids around large crowds.

Watch any flight time changes like a hawk! I bought my SW tickets at $100 each way and now they are like $400 each way. I get an email in my inbox saying that they moved me from a 9am flight (perfect--gets is in at lunch with not too early a start) to 6am one (ewwwwww) "due to flight schedule changes". I take a peek any my original flight is still available, same flight number, same exact departure and arrival time. Just 4x the price. They clearly wanted to boot my family of 5 off of it to sell to another 5 customers at a better price. So I called and politely asked to switch back to my original flight at no cost. Of course they had to do so right away once I asked.

Still, left a bad taste in my mouth. Never had reason to complain about SW before this--nothing but good experience, but of all the low down sneaky tricks...

I would say just be careful. The flight may be oversold. When I went to Disney for Spring Break a few Years ago our flight was oversold. So, they were asking people to give up their seats for a price. I prebought our seat selection, however, those who did not had to see if someone would give up their seat. It was so over sold the airline was giving 1500 per seat for people to switch their flights. We considered it but due to it being Spring Break the next flight they would have put us on has 3 stops and would have gotten us to Disney 8 hours later. We had seats because we paid the extra money at booking and had reserved a designated seat.

True, but then as you say they should offer some compensation to switch me to another flight, not just move me to a less convenient flight with no compensation like they did. Plus the flight is still available to book on the website.

Airlines will keep selling over sold flights. They hope not everyone shows up. Because of the price increase on your flight I just have a hunch it may be sold out or selling out. Also, airlines in my experience don't offer compensation until the day of at the gate. I really hope your case is different. I just wanted to share my experience just in case.

I’ve got a strategy question for you now that hours on the 13th are much later.

We have two ADR options: 8:55pm BOG in MK, or 9pm Japan in EP.

That day MK is open up 10p and EP is open until 11p. I’d really like to be in the latest closing park for last ride. Here are scenarios I am seeing:

We eat at BOG pretty quickly and then hustle to EP for a “last ride,”

We eat at EP so we are there for the a “last ride,”

I really like ending the day with a ride and maximizing park time (so being at EP when it closes at 11), but our party is also really happy going to BOG and that will be our only chance. So I’d have to convince them to throw over BOG in exchange for EP, UNLESS we could really make it after dinner for one last ride in EP.

Even if some people go right back to the resort after BOG, is it feasible at least my husband, daughter, and I could make it to EP from BOG at MK at 10pm and get in line for a ride before 11? (Also does it only take an hour to eat at BOG?)

Thanks!

BOG to EP would stress me out personally. I'd pick to be in one spot.

I take your point but we can live with that. I think we would rather be bumped to a much later flight and get there late than have to leave so early. A 3am wakeup = extremely crabby kiddos on the flight.

I think that’s why if we do that it would be a smaller group who considered it more a challenge than anything else—I guess I’ll talk out with them what their priorities are and how tired everyone thinks they’ll be. That will be a long day with the most-of-the-time 8:15/8:30 MK opening. It’ll be our first day with a late 1am arrival the night before, whew!

Ugh, I’ll trade with you! We had great flights on Frontier, leaving at 6:45p Friday night after work and then leaving MCO at the end of our trip at 6pm the final day. Frontier switched ours to a 9:45pm flight (so getting to the hotel at like 1am) and then a MCO departure the last day to 9:30am. So we are going to be dragging day one and we lose basically an ENTIRE day at the end.

Because it’s Frontier, those are the only flights AT ALL those days, so no switching unless we added a day to our trip, and we can’t do that because of work commitments. It’s terrible.

I have to buy another set of tickets to see my family up north in April but I can’t bring myself to do it knowing the schedules will likely change. I wish airlines would stop moving things around so much!!

I’ve never had a short meal at BOG. There is often a wait to be seated, especially with later reservations where people who had earlier reservations linger to enjoy the atmosphere. Usually dinner there takes two hours or more from the initial reservation time.

Even if you got your table right on time, and dinner lasted only an hour, that still means you have you get over to Epcot (15 mins to exit the park, 20 minute wait for bus or longer if you need to get to a car, 20 minute drive)—you’d be arriving at the Epcot park gates as they are closing.

Okay! Super good to know. Thanks! At least if we kept BOG then we’d definitely be walking out of an empty MK, which could be pretty cool. Appreciate the intel!!!

That sounds awful. If airlines change your flight by more than a couple of hours, usually they have to provide a refund upon request in the U.S. you could call and ask if there is a different airline you would rather buy tickets on instead.
