***Official March 2021 Thread***

Ugh, I’ll trade with you! We had great flights on Frontier, leaving at 6:45p Friday night after work and then leaving MCO at the end of our trip at 6pm the final day. Frontier switched ours to a 9:45pm flight (so getting to the hotel at like 1am) and then a MCO departure the last day to 9:30am. So we are going to be dragging day one and we lose basically an ENTIRE day at the end.

Because it’s Frontier, those are the only flights AT ALL those days, so no switching unless we added a day to our trip, and we can’t do that because of work commitments. It’s terrible.

I have to buy another set of tickets to see my family up north in April but I can’t bring myself to do it knowing the schedules will likely change. I wish airlines would stop moving things around so much!!
Same! Just got another schedule change from Frontier this morning. Luckily the new times work for us but it is frustrating for sure. I think this is the 3rd time they have changed on us.

No way! I did not know that! I’ll have to look—we have some miles on AA so maybe that would work!

That sounds awful. If airlines change your flight by more than a couple of hours, usually they have to provide a refund upon request in the U.S. you could call and ask if there is a different airline you would rather buy tickets on instead.

Hubby and I are staying from the 22nd to the 26th at All Star Music. We’re celebrating our 8 year anniversary and going w/o our kiddos 😢 but we ALL need a break from each other 😂 it’s been quite a year...hoping to use this trip as a chance to see how things are with COVID before we bring our kids around large crowds.

Got you added to the list.

I feel like I have missed adding someone to the list so if I skipped you please let me know. The thread started moving faster lately so I may have overlooked someone.

Watch any flight time changes like a hawk! I bought my SW tickets at $100 each way and now they are like $400 each way. I get an email in my inbox saying that they moved me from a 9am flight (perfect--gets is in at lunch with not too early a start) to 6am one (ewwwwww) "due to flight schedule changes". I take a peek any my original flight is still available, same flight number, same exact departure and arrival time. Just 4x the price. They clearly wanted to boot my family of 5 off of it to sell to another 5 customers at a better price. So I called and politely asked to switch back to my original flight at no cost. Of course they had to do so right away once I asked.

Still, left a bad taste in my mouth. Never had reason to complain about SW before this--nothing but good experience, but of all the low down sneaky tricks...
Yes! They've done that to me once. I called and they put us back on our original flight. I was pissed. They'd switched us to a flight with a 2 hr layover. Not happening with 4 kids when the direct flight is just over 2 hours

I haven't had any changes to my flights over the past year with SW. We leave Saturday. Is there any point with SW when you should be in the clear, or will they change flights even the morning of?

I would say just be careful. The flight may be oversold. When I went to Disney for Spring Break a few Years ago our flight was oversold. So, they were asking people to give up their seats for a price. I prebought our seat selection, however, those who did not had to see if someone would give up their seat. It was so over sold the airline was giving 1500 per seat for people to switch their flights. We considered it but due to it being Spring Break the next flight they would have put us on has 3 stops and would have gotten us to Disney 8 hours later. We had seats because we paid the extra money at booking and had reserved a designated seat.
Well heck. $1500 per person @7 ppl, id give that serious consideration lol

Lol I just tried that and both ways had seats for 8 left in all categories. But omg the price!!! I paid around 105 each way and now it’s 426 there and 240 back!😳😳

Yeah I know right? Prices have skyrocketed. Ours have doubled what we paid.

So I looked again and Disney is now listing breakfast times at Hollywood & Vine as 8:30am-10:30am. That lines up with a 9am park opening with how early they've been opening the gates at DHS (usually around 8:15-8:20 on a 9am opening).

So fear not about that 8am opening I mentioned earlier!!!

I take your point but we can live with that. I think we would rather be bumped to a much later flight and get there late than have to leave so early. A 3am wakeup = extremely crabby kiddos on the flight.
When we've had early flights we always drive to the airport and stay in a hotel nearby the night before. the 2 airports "near" us are 2&3 hours away. So if we fly out before 9 am, we go the night before. No way I am getting my kids up at 4 am lol

does it list the potential characters?

They have changed mine but not by enough to bother me. We head to MCO 25 minutes earlier (which I'm happy about since my daughter and I function well on little sleep) and we head home from MCO around 50 minutes earlier. I'm also perfectly fine with that because once we land we still have an hour and 45 minute drive home. I've never read anything about them changing time the morning of unless it's because the plane was delayed getting to the airport. Someone else may have a different experience though.

That's what we are doing (and hubby and I did it in 2019). There is an airport an hour away from me, which is actually the town my daughter lives in, but Southwest doesn't fly out of there. So we fly out of Nashville. It's an hour and 45 minutes from my house. But because my son used to have regular visits at Vanderbilt, I'm used to that drive so it doesn't bother me. But because we fly out early (our flight is at 6:05am) we just stay the night in Nashville the night before.

So one thing that happened with my sister's family and SW was they got randomly rescheduled from a mid-afternoon direct flight to a late evening connecting flight. Upon talking with SW they managed to get a Credit for a future flight on SW and they actually opened up another mid-afternoon (only an hour after the original one) direct flight that they got placed into. So that worked out!

How much longer did the connecting flight take? There was a flight that opened up and for some reason it goes from STL to Denver... then Orlando of course... I mean? I don't ever fly but that seems kind of out of the way. lol

Man, that would have paid for our whole trip! Id have given that serious consideration.
Yeah we thought about it, but our daughter was 5 at the time and we didn't think she could handle a whole day of travel through multiple airports. This was pre covid and I think many passagers had their fastpasses planned out and their day planned out too and no one was trying to get off the plane. 😆
