*****Official (??) June 2014 Thread -- Party Like It's Hot!*****

So is anyone else doing something new for their June trip? New experiences, restaurants, tours, braving a new ride? I booked us for a fireworks cruise on June 2nd!! So excite for this! It is called Pirates and Pals and has a Peter Pan theme. The blurb says you will meet Hook and Smee ( who we have NEVER encountered) and then do the cruise during Wishes and then meet a special character, who DD hopes will be Peter Pan ( she would prefer the Peter Pan from Once Upon a Time but loves the Disney version, too)!!:-D

We are having ADR's at other resorts that we've never been to before - breakfast with Stitch at the Poly, 4th July dinner at the AKL, evening at the ESPN on Boardwalk - kids are older now so we can finally do a few more 'adult' things....we still rope drop every day though... got to do the headliners and try and do Dinosaur 4 times in a row!!!!!!!:yay::yay:

I have been a member for years, but haven't really posted much.

Name: Jessica
Travel Dates (if known): June 22-26
Where Will You Be Staying?: POR
Travel Party: 2 (me and soon to be DH)
Current Location: Arkansas
Favorite Disney Character: I love Baloo
Favorite Disney Movie: The Jungle Book and Sword in the Stone
How Many Trips?: Six for me and his first time
On-Site or Off?: I have stayed both on and offsite
Best Disney Story: The last time I went to Animal Kingdom the train stopped at the top of the hill before you start to go backwards on Everest. We were up there for a little while before we had to "trek" down the mountain.
What do you look forward to most on your next trip? Showing my soon to be DH the joy and magic of Disney World.

I am so excited to be getting married and going to Disney World all in the same year. Since we also want to hit the beach, this trip is just a couple of days, but I am hoping to try some new restaurants and attempt to drink around the World in Epcot.

We have eaten at Y&Y, 50's, and Sci-Fi. Our whole family loves Y&Y! It's probably our favorite in-park restaurant! Sci-Fi is just fun....nothing special about the food, but it's like another attraction almost. We are going back to Y&Y and Sci-Fi on our upcoming trip!

Yes, I think we will just miss each other at Y&Y. Our res. is for 1:30pm on our AK day.

We have a bunch of firsts, too:
Staying at Contemporary...really excited to walk to MK
Watching Wishes....last time we caught an obstructed view from our poly balcony with no music
Breakfast ADR at chef mickeys...didn't do any morning ADRs last time
New fantasyland
Younger daughter and my hubby are thrill seekers so plan to have them try out ee, tot, big thunder mtn, and splash mtn.
New dining...tusker house, bog, ltt
Trying water parks
May try mini golf
Pick a pearl in japan

Getting so excited!!!

Travel Dates (if known):June 15-23
Where Will You Be Staying?: Timeshare condo
Travel Party:4 - DH, DD8, DD5, and me
Current Location: NC
Favorite Disney Character: Ariel (because she likes to sing), Belle (because she likes to read), Cinderella (because she is kind to even the meanest people)
Favorite Disney Movie:Cinderella
How Many Trips?: 1 (Nov. 2011) Looking forward to our 2nd trip in June!
On-Site or Off?: Off (At some point, I'd like to stay onsite, but it's hard to justify paying that much for a room when we can use our timeshare points to stay in a spacious condo.)
Best Disney Story: When we took our first trip (2 years ago), walking down Main Street before our early morning breakfast at Crystal Palace, and seeing Cinderella's Castle for the first time with hardly anyone around. It was so magical! (We're doing that again this trip!)
What do you look forward to most on your next trip? Flying instead of driving so we can get there much faster; experiencing the new Fantasy Land, which was being built during our last trip; riding Toy Story Mania, which we missed last time; making lots of memories with my family

Name: Terri
Travel Dates (if known): June 8-15
Where Will You Be Staying?: Pop Century
Travel Party: 4 - My dd, sil, most adored grandson & myself
Current Location: Georgia
Favorite Disney Character: Dopey
Favorite Disney Movie: Snow White & The Seven Dwarfs
How Many Trips?: Multiple - first trip when dd was 6. She's in her 30's now.
On-Site or Off?: On. Always. For us its just way more magical
Best Disney Story: I was at the Magic Kingdom on my 45th birthday, and it was an EMH night. As we turned main street to leave Mickey & Goofy were on the corner. I stopped for a picture. When Mickey noticed my birthday button he pointed it out to the CM handler. The CM called people over and had everyone sing Happy Birthday to me. Even though I was well into my adult years I felt just like a child again. It was an amazing night I will never forget.
What do you look forward to most on your next trip? Showing the magic to my grandson

Hello, all! I was just wondering if anyone had been perusing any of the character meet threads?:surfweb: I've heard rumors that Disney is going to move Elsa & Ana from Norway, maybe to the Fantansyland greet area where Merida is now. My DDs want to meet both of these. I'd prefer that WDW leave things as they are, but they didn't ask me :confused3! Anyone got a scoop? (I personally find the kids obsession with character meets to be exhausting and not at all fun, but hey, it's their vacation, too!:wizard:)

Hey, everyone!

I'll be trying to get in and update us later today. It's been a rough January so far... My grandmother passed away recently, school has started back (and my class numbers this term are interesting -- 21, 18, and 34 -- on the books, anyway...it's really 18, 16, and 34/about to be 33...) Things have been busy, but I look forward to going back and reading over everyone's posts since the last time I updated and getting all caught up! (for a few days, anyway!)

I am sorry to hear about the passing of your grandmother.

Well....I know I said I wouldn't be changing dates, but we have already hit our maximum snow days and that means anymore school will be extended for the year, which will cut into our trip dates. So....we have opted for July/August like last year. It will actually work our well since this is when we originally wanted to go, but we were planning a beach trip in that time frame with extended family. Since that time, other family members have had to change plans so the beach trip was off so now we can go in July like we originally planned.

Hope everyone has a fantastic time!

New stuff for us:

Water park; not sure if it will be Typhoon Lagoon or Blizzard Beach yet
'Ohana dinner
Mama Melrose for Fantasmic package. We've seen the show before but I'm happy that we won't have to wait in such a long line.
Hoping for the Seven Dwarves Mine Train and new afternoon parade to be up and going!!!!
Star Wars Weekend

We cannot wait for this next trip!

So sorry about your grandmother :-( Wow your one class is SO big! What do you teach?

12th Grade English. One honors (21) and one non-honors (34). The other class is 9th Grade English The worst part is that every time one leaves, it seems to be out of the smaller class. I have 2 at Alternative School who won't come back this school year in each Honors 12 and 9th. One in Honors just withdrew -- she moved her a year ago after her parents died, and they've worked things out somehow so she can graduate with the friends she grew up with. I've got on in the non-Honors who is claiming yesterday was his last day, but I'll believe it when he withdraws. So, yeah...a class that technically has 16, a class that technically has 19, and 34.

Thank you for sympathy about my grandmother. She had been confined to her bed for the last year, was an Alzheimer's patient, and was just in general pain and confusion. Tough still, but she is better now. I seem to have inherited her 5 year old Pekichi (Pekinese-Chihuahua), which isn't bad...other than he's about as bad to have to share a bed with as my child is...

Alright, I think it's time to update! :hyper:

Woo! I think I'm caught up! Do you know 14 people joined us since I last updated??

:wecome: to Fjobe, wintershawl, bhwhiz, KNJWDW, Morgan729, Brennicksmom, Kellyinthewoods, BigBlueWho, Katieam1, Puppytrainer, BigDaddyWill, DisneyAnytime, Lillyshula, & Kaybee1476!

Sorry to see laralissa, Belleoftheball, and anjalee6 go. :(

teedee, I have your info updated! :thumbsup2

Is it just me, or is there an abundance of Amy's here?? :joker:

I see a lot of people planning on doing the Wishes Dessert Party...we did it last year and would have enjoyed it more if we hadn't eaten at CRT 3 hours before. Still stuffed from CRT, especially when you get dessert as part of the meal, then they send you another cupcake for it being your birthday...and you can't just let it sit there because it just seems like it would be rude. (Does anyone else feel like that??) Then, boom! Dessert party. Would you believe that I still lost weight on that trip?

What's new for us this trip? All the restaurants we have chosen to go to! Cali Grill, Via Napoli, Tusker House, and Afternoon Tea! I'm with everyone on the Just Say No to ToT campaign! Mom says it isn't bad, and she doesn't understand how I can LOVE RnRC and won't get near the ToT line (or any closer to it than I have to get so I can go to RnRC...)

Hopefully, the Seven Dwarfs Mine Train will be new for all of us! Anyone know what's the latest on it opening?

I'm jealous of all of you going to WDW and on a Disney Cruise! One day....one day.....

Name: Junebugdisney
Travel Dates (if known): June 8 - 15
Where Will You Be Staying?: Beachclub
Travel Party: 4
Current Location: McKinney, TX
Favorite Disney Character: Pooh, Minnie, Jack Skeleton, Peter Pan etc.
Favorite Disney Movie: Beauty and the Beast
How Many Trips?: This will be our 2nd DW trip and we have been to DL 2 times
On-Site or Off?: On site
Best Disney Story: I never been to Disney World until I took my own children and the first day we were at DW and were at rope drop and walked down the main street where all of the shop keepers were outside and clapping at everyone arriving I had tears in my eyes! I was 39 years old but I felt like I was 5 and it was a dream come true.
What do you look forward to most on your next trip? Its been 4 years since we have been to Disney world so just squeezing in as much magic as I can!

I always feel like I am going to fall out of the car on Big Thunder! It is,however, my DDs favorite Mountain, especially at night!

We love Big Thunder at night too! It is really wonderful when the fireworks are going off. It makes the ride really special. Never felt like falling out of the car though, sorry!

Oh- Star Wars weekend is new for us, too.

I *really* hope they do a villain party for Friday the 13th. That would be just the *best* end to our trip! :maleficen

Sorry to hear about your grandmother.

Never been on a cruise either. Would love to some day.

I have to say this about ToT. Only ridden it at DLR. I used to only ride it once a trip just to see the theming and I just sort of tolerated it. Last trip I decided to not tense up- just relax and let go. When I did that it was really fun. I found out you sort of float at certain times. It then became one of my favorites and we went on it again and again. So there's my tip for ToT. Maybe that will help someone else enjoy it more. I'm looking forward to trying it at WDW but it seems the line there will be a lot longer so I'm guessing I won't get to go on it over and over again.
