OFFICIAL JULY 2009 THREAD!!! The wait is on!!!

In one month from today my plane will be approaching Orlando airport!!! WOOOHOO

As for July - we absolutely love July/Aug. For me, having always gone to disney in the summer, that's what Disney is most magical in my memory. So just know it's going to be hot, and don't try to fight it.

I'm the official "days left til WDW" counter in my family.

My mom actually emailed me today to get the official count. we're at 39 days today!

I think I'll get a couple of the new spray fans this week. I'm trying not to get stressed about heat and crowds. This really (timewise) was the best time to go without having kids worrying about making up school work (DD11 and DD7). So I'm going with a positive attitude, and hoping it's going to be as magical as it was last time.

I saw you were going to buy misting fans and I don't think anyone has mentioned these, but I was in Target last week and for $6 they had water bottles that would also mist you. I know it was missing the fan, but my camera bag has one cup holder and I hate trying to carry a misting fan and a bottle of water, this way I can cool myself off in two ways with one bottle. We used it Saturday and I really liked it.

Ok I am totally stressing...I have my Disney trip all paid for and planned, but I have a wedding in 33 days and SO much stuff to do...EEEEK! I didn't want a big wedding ( which is what we are having ) but my Fiance does so guess who has had to do ALL of the planningg? You guessed it. ME...I am so far behind with no help from anyone but my mother and only she can sporadically and my Maid of Honor is to busy to. ACK!!!! thankfully Thursday Fiance has off so we are doing a freaking shopping spree and then some....EEEKKK....I have so much stuff to get....I am not a last minute person by nature, so this is driving me insane!

Question for you all though. We plan to drive and have been planning that from the beginning. However, there is a new direct flight from our local airport and the rates are really good. If we decide to fly can we still book ME and have time to get the tags??

Hey everyone! You guys have been busy...I haven't been gone that long! DH & I took a 3 day mini-vaca w/out the kids to a town near Hershey, PA...but didn't go to Hershey Park. It was for a bowling tournament. Oh well...back now!

I really don't think the heat is unbearable in the summer. As long as you pace yourselves and don't try to worry about getting to see and do everything each day then you won't be disappointed! We are staying for 10 nights this time, so we really are going to be more relaxed and take it easy! (I think!)

We don't get park hoppers. I think I'd be too stressed w/ park hoppers w/ the kids and the stroller and all. I think it's easier to pick a park and stick with it! I think if we did a trip without the kids or maybe in several years when the kids are older, then we'll look into the hoppers again! But now we're fine without it...and in my mind it's extra spending money!

We will be getting the birthday gift cards....one for me & one for dh! The fastpasses are good I think for four fastpass attractions in one park. So whatever park you choose to get your birthday fastpass will have two colums. Each colum will list 2-3 attractions. You get to choose two of the attractions from each side to use the fastpass. It's not unlimited fastpass or anything. You only get to use it the 4 times. I do think you get up to 6, one for each member in your party if I am remembering correctly.

Just curious, how soon after your final payment did you get your Mickey mail? I am waiting for mine - paid off the balance on May 28 - but have not yet received all my vouchers etc - we are driving too so no ME.

I paid mine off on May 21. So about 51 days before we arrive. And I just got everything today with 33 days to go. I really thought it might be a few more days before this came. I was surprised when my DS14 brought in the mail...happily surprised.

So, I only have 33 more days to keep this secret from my little guys. I wish DS14 could go too but his Dad lives out of state and he visits him most of the summer. He is so excited for the little ones though. And we are taking just him to Cedar Point later this year. He'd rather ride the big rides anyway.

Ok, so you were about a week ahead of me. Nothing in today's mail - someone told me if you did not have ME it might not get sent, but that didn't happen to you.

We are not far from Cedar Point - used to go a lot when I was growing up because my grandma lived in Port Clinton - just up the road from Sandusky. But, those big rides are too much for me now. DD likes them but not DS so we have not been in several years.

I also bough those mini misting cooling fans at Wal Mart for $3.00. They have Carabiners on them so I can attach them to our pin lanyards or backbacks.

My MIL got the Mickey Mail and she didn't say anthing about luggage tags (the name & address ones). I will have to double check with her on what she actually received. I don't need luggage tags or Magic Express tickets myself.

I think if I could survive 6 years living in Houston (know to me as Hotston) I can deal with the heat of Disney with all its garden beauty. July is the only time we could take my niece.

I just noticed that my ticker in my signature is off by a day. My DVC cout-down widget on my computer desktop says 33 days. My ticker says 1 month and 4 days (which is probably 34 days if 30 days are counted for a month). huh?

For our last trip, I bought our misters (pump-style, without a fan) at Walgreens. No batteries required so we didn't have to worry about carrying extra batteries, and we just refilled them with cool water as needed at the drinking fountains. They lasted the entire week without any problems at all, and I don't think I paid more than $5 each for them. They were smaller than the spray misters with fans, and lighter. I'm going to try to find the same kind of misters again for our upcoming trip. I should put that on my to-do list for this week.

On our last trip we ran into a couple of Brazilian and Argentinian teenage tour groups. Aside from them being really loud with their chanting, it really wasn't a problem...there were a few times, though, that they got very loud with their chanting and CMs asked them to quiet down...particularly one night at Fantasmic when a group from Argentina and a group from Brazil decided to see which group could out-chant/out-shout the other group...it was insane. VERY loud and annoying...but the CMs quickly came down and asked them to quiet down...a few times. Other than that, they were very friendly and polite.

I can't believe our trip is coming up so quickly! I started picking up items on my supply list this weekend...extra ponchos, pocket first-aid kit (bandaids, antibiotic ointment), moleskin, extra sunscreen. This week I also need to get extra batteries for the camera, our mister fans, mail stuff to Betsy for the welcome baskets, and make up the mousekeeping envelopes. Next week we will probably make our autograph books and my park planner book so I can start printing out my lists, spreadsheets, plans, etc.

We're getting so excited!

I've noticed this too! I *think* that the DVC widget adds the day you start your vacation as a day on the ticker, whereas the tickers on here do not. I think that's why it's a day off!

We are going on the 11 july for 2 wks staying at all stars movies.
it will be the 6th time to disney but the 1st staying on site + the 1st visit for our 6yr girl, and our 16th wedding anniversary.can't wait but still a bit nervous as it will be very different with a child in tow,hopefully even better

Well school is out! It was so nice not to have to go into work today. Now, I have to pack my daughter for summer camp, plan vacation bible school, and most importantly, plan and pack for WDW! I am awaiting for our Mickey Mail to arrive. I think I am more excited than my kids. I printed out our Mousekeeping envelopes, our Name tag for our stroller, and a well defined packing list. I have so much I want to get for this trip. But, will have to wait till pay day. It just feels so great to already have our trip paid for. Now, we only have to plan on a few extra meals, gas money and extra $ for souveniers. As for the heat of July, I am trying to be like everyone else and just hope for the best. I actually live in Florida, so I am used to the humidity. I know that it will be hot and sweaty , but, I can handle it. I am more concerned about and hoping for a summer free of hurricanes.. So, if we can get lucky and go without one of those... then, we will have a great time. I guess that is why they make vacation insurance, though...
