OFFICIAL JULY 2009 THREAD!!! The wait is on!!!

The sagging world economy may deter tour groups both foreign and domestic, but that's just a guess. I do know that McDonald's has rented Hollywood Studios for I think it is Wednesday the 15th. Whichever day it is HS closes to the public at 7:00pm. That day, I would expect that there will be enough extra McD's employees to rent out a whole park!! I too am concerned about humidity & crowds, but this year July is it! We're taking my niece (10) with us and her school breaks really do not coincide with ours except for the middle of summer. We usually go in March, April, Oct or Nov. We're trying to plan a time-frame for our next Disney Vacation after this one, so I don't know whether to make it before next summer or not! :confused3

What if you ADR's after 7 pm at HS? I can't imagine that they would allow us to make ADR's if the park was going to be closed. I am wrong? :confused3

I also bough those mini misting cooling fans at Wal Mart for $3.00. They have Carabiners on them so I can attach them to our pin lanyards or backbacks.

My MIL got the Mickey Mail and she didn't say anthing about luggage tags (the name & address ones). I will have to double check with her on what she actually received. I don't need luggage tags or Magic Express tickets myself.

I think if I could survive 6 years living in Houston (know to me as Hotston) I can deal with the heat of Disney with all its garden beauty. July is the only time we could take my niece. :teacher:

Thanks for the info on the cooling fans.:thumbsup2 When we went last June, I only bought the little battery powered fans - not misters. They worked alright but they did not last very long. Plus, DS accidently got DD's hair caught in it. :scared1:

Yikes, I'll have to check that out! NO DO NOT ADD DAYS!! lol

Mindy hey don't make fun of us in Houston. LOL But I agree, it will just be another summer day for us, but a lot more fun!

We live in College Station and it is so hot and humid here during the summer. I figure that July in WDW probably won't be much different. When we went last June ('08), it wasn't too bad. Maybe that's because we are so used to the heat and humidity.;)

We are going on the 11 july for 2 wks staying at all stars movies.
it will be the 6th time to disney but the 1st staying on site + the 1st visit for our 6yr girl, and our 16th wedding anniversary.can't wait but still a bit nervous as it will be very different with a child in tow, hopefully even better:cheer2:

Two weeks at WDW! I'm so jealous! You will have a wonderful time and staying onsite is the best! :thumbsup2 What we love so much about staying onsite is that you continually see and feel the Disney magic plus you never have to drive to any of the parks! :woohoo:

You aren't far from me at all! We are in Spring! Now I need to go back and look at your dates. Wonder if we'll be in the World at the same time?:confused3:rotfl:

Wouldn't make fun of Hotston :flower3:(I mean Houston). Actually we lived in Friendswood, and the people there sure put the Friend in Friendswood. I just didn't like the climate. I also missed my seasons. Of course, now I'm SO over winter. Its fun for a couple of weeks, but it gets old fast. After Christmas, I'm done!!:wizard:

I would call back dining if you have an ADR for a restaurant that is after the park closes. If it is close to the time, then maybe they let people in for the restaurants. I would definately double check on that though.

All our ADR's this time are in resorts. But we are going light on ADR's. The QS's can be great. Like the fish & chips in England. We gotta have them once per year. My DD21 dreams of that big pile of sauerkraut in Sommerfest QS in Germany. I love Wolrd Showcase QS's, so make sure you try some. Reservations are also not required at the TS ressie's Beaches & Cream at the Beach Club and Rainforest in DTD or AK. And don't dismiss walking around the World and snacking your way through... popcorn popcorn:: ice cream, big giant brownies or Rice Krispy treats at the Bakery, funnel cakes... who needs a "real" meal!! :rotfl2: This is Disney its all about fun... YES kids you CAN have ice cream for dinner!!

oh... and we used to drive up to Spring to visit that "old town" area. We loved this little cafe and we used to get the BEST ice cream from this small vendor!

Nope.

I'm a mean Daddy.

I told DS5 that he can have typical kid-fare (nuggets, hot dog, pizza, etc) for lunch OR dinner, but not both. For the other meal he needs to have something else (chicken, fish, steak, etc).

We'll see how long that lasts. :rotfl2:

We are practically neighbors! :) I will have to check on your dates as well! I am so excited! We have 35 days until ours begins! :yay: I just wish that our papers would come in. Since our WDW vacation is going to be a complete surprise to the kids (they will find out when we enter under the WDW sign), I do my best to beat them to the mail box! I haven't pushed them out of the way yet in order to be the first one there...yet. :rotfl2:

We have a couple of ADR's at the resorts, but we have to go to the 50's PTC. DH insists - he loves their fried chicken! :worship: We did not have fish and chips but did stop in to have a Harp's lager! :worship: DTD also offers some great eateries. Fulton's is also a family favortie. I have heard mixed reviews about the new T-Rex restaurant. It sounds a lot like Rainforest Cafe. We have never eaten at Beaches and Cream but I have read lots of good things about it. It sounds like a great place to go for a snack!!! :)

I believe T-Rex is the same Restaurant group as Rainforest. I actually looked at the menu online, but they didn't have my Rainforest faves, so we'll skip it. We might stop in to visit the gift shop. Beaches and Cream is fun. They have typical soda shop favorites and hot dogs, burgers but they're famous for their "kitchen sink". Its an ice cream sundae for 8-9 people with one scoop of EACH flavor they sell, plus some of each topping they have, plus all the sprinkles and a full can of whipped cream!! they announce each one they serve. We went there with another family and we ordered it. It was alot for us to eat even with 4 adults and 4 children!! Its a blast!

Good morning everyone!!! Less than 6 weeks for us now! We have been so busy this past week that we hadn't ripped our numbers off our countdown calendar at all! Last night we caught up and went from 49 days to 41 days!! :yay: It would be a lot less stressful if the countdown was just to the trip and not to the wedding too!

Oh that's the best! It will go so fast with all those things in between one after another!

That's what I'm afraid of. Time is compressing!! I feel like I won't have time to be fully prepared!! Although... I've got my lists, and my lists for my lists.

:rotfl:

It sure is creeping up fast now! As excited as I am to go - I don't want the summer to pass too quickly! My kids are still battling through the last week of school! They do not get out till Friday.

I hate to ask this but what pages are the list of ADRs and the list of who is going when?

Thanks!!!!!!

Thanks Nikki!! I have written it down so I won't have to ask again....

Good luck with the wedding plans - just remember to enjoy your day!!!!!!!!

23 days!!!

Busy day here. Took the kids to have their pics made, then went by and took care of my friends dog. Fed the kids lunch, put one down for a nap and now the other is watching Dumbo for about the 1 millionth time. LOL Ahhh but at least it is quiet! :lmao:

47 days out and...

westtooth1.jpg

DS5 loses his first tooth!!

Luckily it's on the bottom, so it won't be tooooo visible in the pictures. :rotfl:

Nikki! I totally get you with the wedding and trip planning thing.....so stressful, but it will be worth it...I know that next year all I have to do is plan the trip...that will be comforting in itself!

:scared: I wish it would hurry up and get here! I booked through AAA, so that might have something to do with it! I cleaned house all day, but only the upstairs. Downstairs, where my computer is, is trashed still! I really should get busy, but DIS is more fun!
