Welcome to our thread!!! My fiance and I will also be at the Poly on our honeymoon at that time! We're checking in on the 19th and leaving for the 7 night Disney cruise on July 25th!

We are getting so much closer!!!!:banana::banana:

Hope you all had a great weekend! Kids and I are going to pick up the mess we made of the house despite all my cleaning this weekend! Maybe I'll put up the inflatable pool for them tomorrow. Have to see. Back to work for DH but not many more days of work before vacation!

My sister had chosen the Fast Pass instead of the gift card when she was at Disney in January. She ran the 1/2 Marathon on her 43rd birthday!:woohoo: I asked her about it because I was wondering how it would work if one birthday gal had a fast pass, but the rest of her family didn't. She said it was good for the whole family. She described it more as sort of a Master Fast Pass. I think you could use it over and over all day as much as you liked. I'm not sure if it park-hopped with her or not though. I'll have to remember to ask her tomorrow.

Speaking of park hopping. We always get the park hopper. I was always under the impression that if a park had Late Magic Hours, then during the day, it would be less crowded, because people would skip that park and come back later during the late EMH hours. We do that. But then Lois mentioned that people without park hopper option (I never thought of that) would have to make that park their park for the day in order to take advantage of the late Magic Hours. Making it MORE crowded during that day. Which do you think it is? More or less crowded? If a park has early magic hours, does it make it more or less crowded later in that same day? I love the option of park hopping. We love EPCOT QS's for lunch. I wouldnt' even want to consider NOT hopping. I'm too spoiled after always hopping. Do most people hop? or not hop? Hoppers would, like me, skip the late magic park in the early day. But non-hoppers would have to do the opposite. What does everyone think?

From all of my reading of guide books, each of them say that EMH tend to boost up the parks population during the day. My DH and I will be park hopping to the EMH at night when we can.

Thanks. Good to know. I'll have to keep that in mind while planning which parks to visit when.

WDW told me the same thing as Tom. It will be 75 Dollars. Anyone know how well the fast passes work. If it is just one fast pass per fast pass ride I am not sure it is worth it. Lois

We will be celebrating DD's 10th birthday while we are there and a CM told me (on the phone) that you get to pick between a FastPass or a gift card since we are coming in under a pin code. The Fastpass would be great, especially if it's for the whole family and all day long. But I have a feeling that DD will want the gift card. We will leave it up to her to pick.

Have any of you DISer's heard that there are usually many tour groups at WDW during July? :confused3 On another thread, someone mentioned that they would not go back during July because there were so many tour groups (mostly kids) at WDW. :scared1: Just curious.

Well, I have heard about Brazilian tour groups, but most of those threads get closed because of the potential for ethnic undertones, but I have heard they are out and about in July.....

I know most of our High School groups here that go down do it during the school year..... Not sure how others do it!

As a teacher, I am stuck to the summer, so we'll just make the best of it.:cool1:

We always go in July and there have always been a lot of Brazilian Tour Groups. For the most part, they are all pretty respectful. As with any group of teens, you are going to have unruly kids that cause problems for others. That is part of being a teenager, not Brazilian. The only thing that really bothered me was the constant chanting (really really loud) that they did. It made it impossible for anyone to videotape in the park. They would do it while walking, waiting for shows, waiting for their groups to get off of rides, etc;. It was much better last year. No chanting at all that I can remember. I think I heard someone from Disney say that they have been asked to refrain from it as it spoils other guests magic.:confused3 The CM was speaking to another family about four families ahead of us in the Dinosaur queue, so I can't be sure.

The sagging world economy may deter tour groups both foreign and domestic, but that's just a guess. I do know that McDonald's has rented Hollywood Studios for I think it is Wednesday the 15th. Whichever day it is HS closes to the public at 7:00pm. That day, I would expect that there will be enough extra McD's employees to rent out a whole park!! I too am concerned about humidity & crowds, but this year July is it! We're taking my niece (10) with us and her school breaks really do not coincide with ours except for the middle of summer. We usually go in March, April, Oct or Nov. We're trying to plan a time-frame for our next Disney Vacation after this one, so I don't know whether to make it before next summer or not! :confused3

I don't really mind going in the summer...

It's gonna be hot, it's gonna be crowded but we'll be in Disney World!!! Who cares about anything else!! :woohoo:

It will be crowded but the rides will be running all the cars on both lines and the parks are open for longer each day. For example if you go in October MK will close at 8PM not 10PM, AK will closed at 5PM not 7PM, DS will close at 8PM each day. I know DS closes at 7PM some days in July but other days it is open until 9PM. This is to allow the guest to do as much in the summer as we can in the fall it just takes a little longer.

As far as the heat I can't say but my guess is it will be hotter than October but that can be handled if you drink lots of water. We also got some small battery powered fans with a spray bottle to help keep us cool. Found then at walmart for 3 dollars. That beats the 12 or more we would pay at WDW and those are much larger. I hope they work for the 8 days.

I am trying very hard to be positive because I want to bring my two oldest Grandkids and July is the only time my daughter will allow me to take then due to the fact that they have a life. Beth will need to go to summer school till the end of June and she cheerleads all summer and Austin is going to be going to a special program at Gorgetown University in Washington DC. He leaves for 3 weeks this next Sunday. Gets home on a Sunday and we Fly out the next Wednesday. Just enough time to get some sleep, unpack, wash his clothes and pack again. He is going to be a busy kid.

Well I need to get ready for work. Write more later. Hope everyone has a productive week. Lois

I'm the official "days left til WDW" counter in my family.

My mom actually emailed me today to get the official count. we're at 39 days today!

I think I'll get a couple of the new spray fans this week. I'm trying not to get stressed about heat and crowds. This really (timewise) was the best time to go without having kids worrying about making up school work (DD11 and DD7). So I'm going with a positive attitude, and hoping it's going to be as magical as it was last time.

If you expect the best that is what you will fine. As far as the heat goes if you drinks lots of water (not soda) but water and use the spray fans you will be fine. Almost all of the lines are air conditioned so you will get breaks. Don't forget to rest from time to time. I too am trying to keep a positive attitude about July because this would never have been my first choice but it is when I can take the kids. So July it is and I am going to have the time of my life in 30 days and a wake up!!!

That's the PERFECT attitude to have! I was getting stressed out about all the "What if's..." but the fact of the matter is.. We are all going to the Happiest Place on earth with our most favorite people.. How can we not have a GREAT time!?! We just have to make the best of it!
