Official January 2015 Thread!!!

We visited Disney every year when kids were little and have not been in about 5 years. A lot has changed I see!

Originally booked @ WL in late January. Just switched over to YC. Reworking all my ADRs now. Super excited!

My DD13, DD11, and I are taking our first ever girls trip to the world from 1/23-1/30. I originally was booked for the first week of March at CBR (first time staying here) but I kept looking at the crowd calendars and the end of January just seems like a better month to go. I know it will be colder then when we were suppose to go, but we will deal with it, plus we are from the Chicagoland area so Florida's cold is nothing compared to what we will be going through....it will be like a heat wave for us :goodvibes. DH even said that it will be a nice break from the snow and below 0 temps, I feel kind of bad that DH is staying back, but he wanted to let us girls go and have a "Magical" time while he works and goes to a couple Blackhawks games :cool1:.

I have a question to anyone that has been to WDW in January, we will be there the end of January (3 months from today :)) and was curious how the crowds are. According to easywdw.com, they are projecting the crowds to be 1s, 2s, 3s, and maybe a 4 mixed in for that week. I was wondering if the parks truly feels like those low of crowds. What was everyone's experience with that timeframe? Thank you in advance to all that replies.

Any time I have been there in January there really aren't much for crowds. Very easy going. It's been a few years though.

I agree with the above poster as well. Just remember that the parks have close earlier than other times of the year. Most night AK closes at 5, Studios about 7 or 8, Epcot 9 and MK between 8 and MN depending on the date so getting up and going is important for park time. Also remember Blizzard Beach will be closed and Splash Mtn and Kali River Rapids will be as well.

Thank you for the responses. The early closures of parks don't bother us because that will mean that we will go and do something else afterwards (however, on one of our MK days the park is opened until 1am and on our DHS day it is opened until 10pm) , for instance on our AK day, I have ADRs for Boma's after the park closes and then after dinner we will walk around and check out the resort. Also, I am not planning on going to any of the WPs, it's way too cold for that :goodvibes.

It seems nearly official now! I'm flying down there on January 12th and staying for about a week, splitting my time between a to be determined WDW hotel and my friends' apartment. I'll be nailing down more specifics about my trip in the next week or so!

My birthday is on January 13th, and it'll be my first time spending it at Walt Disney World! :goodvibes

It'll be my third time back home at WDW since finishing my College Program in January 2014. I spent 7 incredible months working at the Most Magical Place on Earth and I miss it every day!

During my time working at WDW I called both Epcot and Animal Kingdom Lodge home, and I'd be happy to answer any questions you may have whether they're about the parks, resorts, dining or those fun magic bands. (I worked very closely with them from their debut at AKL in June of 2013.)

I'll be there with DBF January 30-February 2 then on to our first DCL together! We've only been to WDW during during late summer so I'm really excited for nice weather and less crowds :)

Off To Neverland :stitch2:

:dumbo:

Disneyland Resort annually Spring Break 1993-2000, Caribbean Beach Resort July 2001, Paradise Pier Resort 2009, November 2014, Grand Californian April 2010, Pop Century Sept 2012 & Sept 2013, Disneyland Hong Kong July 2013, Animal Kingdom Lodge Kidani Villas & Universal's Cabana Bay Sept 2014, Pop Century & Disney Dream Feb 2015!!

DBF and I will be vacationing Jan. 3-11! First two nights at a DTD best western, then checking in at POP once the stay play and dine begins on Jan. 5! So excited!!!!!

You make me feel like I have a little more work to do before my trip! I have the room booked and ADR's done (although I would like to tweak a few of them still). Have you done Kids Nite Out before and if so can you give first hand knowledge of it? Also, what did you do for the reveal video as that sounds like a great idea.

I haven't used KNO before - or for that matter ever been to Florida before. But I've heard only good things about them, from this board and elsewhere.

Re my reveal video, here is a link to my post about it elsewhere on the dis:

Just over a week to book our FP+!

My husband just completed his first marathon and is training his butt off (literally!) For the Dopey Challenge.

So we're very excited but also very nervous!

DD and I are going for some GIRLS time 1/15 - 1/19. She has 1/16 off from school and 1/19 is MLK holiday. So, she won't miss any school time for this little long-weekend!

Here is the plan:
1/15 - Check into POP very LATE.

1/16 - before park opens ressies at Hollywood & Vine - spend day at HS. See my Floridian BFF and her family at POP for dinnertime!

1/17 - Epcot - ROPE DROP - Lunch Ressies at Akershaus.

1/18 - MK - ROPE DROP - Dinner Ressies (late 7:55pm- hoping to get an earlier time) - Chef Mickey's. Also hoping to get a BOG lunch table, but not going to be too hurt if we don't.

1/19 - pre-opening ressies at Tuskerhouse. spend early part of day at AK. Go back to hotel to catch DME well in front of the 5pm time. Fly home at 8pm.

I expect it to be completely whirlwind.
I.can't.wait.

Best part - DD has no idea. We're hoping that the magic bands arrive JUST IN TIME to give them to her as a Christmas Present!

Only 79 days to go until our Disneymoon! Can't wait to get to WL and experience Disney with my new husband. It'll be his first visit :)

Get to pick FastPasses tonight!! :surfweb: Woo hoo! Hoping for some pixie dust and that it goes smoothly as this is my first time with FP+ pixiedust:

Have fun on your Birthday!! I will be at WDW for my 50th birthday in January. I would love to know what kinds of things I might like to try to do at AKL and Kidani as we are staying there Jan 3-9. It will be my 79 yo mother, me who will turn 50 on the 4th and my 20 yo God daughter. Morgan is a sophomore with a double major in dance and business-accounting,. We also love epcot. Mom will be traveling with a wheelchair (makes her feel more secure and life is easier for us. She rides most rides with us except Rockin Roller Coaster and Tower of Terror and does well if given time to transfer and get into and out of ride vehicles. She however is not very patient anymore and this is a person who had the patience of Job.

Hope you have a great trip.
