OFFICIAL January 2012 5K, Half Marathon, Marathon, Goofy or Dopey Challenge Thread

o, and how could I forget to tell you all, I booked my flights yesterday, yipeee, better got a space for the goofy!
Arriving 3rd.

I did the same thing, I had done a few 1/2's and other races but my first full was with my first goofy. 2010 was my year to do the full and just happened to be the 5th ann of Goofy so had to do it.:thumbsup2

Not sure what I am doing for 2012 I know I will be there just not what race or races I will be doing

Hi all!

Just Booked Old Key West for my first 1/2 Marathon! Very Excited.

I have started pre-training for C25K and then plan on following Galloway's program to the 1/2

Looking forward to getting to know everyone! :woohoo:

If you're going to do the full, you might as well run the half too and be Goofy like the rest of us. :rotfl:

My thoughts exactly!

I'm doing the Princess (my first half) in 10 days.

I have a THV booked for Marathon weekend. Not exactly sure if I'm going Goofy, but I'm seriously considering it. If I can go from zero to Princess in 8 months, can I go from Princess to Goofy in 10 months?

Although I was going to take a year off and run something else, I booked AKV and will be running the Goofy. I had so much fun this year.

I'll be doing the half! I'm so excited. I told my husband that I wanted to, so he said "Sign me up, too!"

:thumbsup2 I was thinking the same thing.. I ALMOST thought about going goofy... did the 1/2 last month.. doing the full in 2012.. I guess if I WALKED the 1/2 I would be okay with it.. I mean, come on.. its all about the medal anyway right???? :lmao:

:

too right, ive booked a room at the madona inn pre race and the disney dream post race.

I'm doing the 5k :)

I have blood clots in my lungs and so trying to do a half or full marathon would be kind of tricky. However, with the help of my personal trainer I'm hoping I can knock this 5K out of the park. :lmao:

I'm aiming to attempt my first 1/2 next year. Been training at about a 14:30-15:00 minute walk/run pace so far without much problem. Haven't done any more than 4 miles yet though. This has always been a goal of mine. Hope to see you all then.

You're on the right path. That pace and distance is a great starting point!

after finishing the princess half this past weekend i'm totally hooked on disney races! i'm planning on the full in january! we've already booked our dvc stay for that week!

i'm very nervous about the distance but knowing i have alot of time to do this makes me feel more confident. i never thought i could do 13.1 miles and i did it in 2:22!

can't wait!

Way to go :thumbsup2

Plenty of time for training but make sure to NOT get into trouble by going too hard.

I'm in for the half. :yay: I even booked my resort stay at Pop. Just waiting to sign up for the race...oh and train more. ;)

I did a local half in October and I've been trying to keep my mileage up. My base is at 8 or 9 miles. I plan on upping it in March to get ready for a local half in June.

How were you able to book the Pop? I couldn't get the Disney site to accept dates after 12/31/11.

Thanks

You can't book online, but you should be able to book over the phone. It will be at rack rate, (or you may be able to get AAA if you're a member), but you can call back later in the year when the room discounts come out to get an adjustment. I did this a couple of years back.
