Official inaugural Tower of Terror 10 miler thread. September 29, 2012

72% full. :yay: It went from 68 to 70 to 72 in a few hours. What is the participant limit? Any bets on when it will sell out?

Anyone who has done a Disney night run have any tips on where to book dining reservations for lunch the day of the race? Thanks in advance.

I ran the first Inaugural ToT race in 2007. I still have the map showing the route we ran. It was a 13K race. The new race is 2 miles longer. Any ideas as to the new route?

I ran W&D last year and we had lunch at the Wave at the Contemporary. IIRC, I ordered a side salad and then a grilled chicken sandwhich for the entree...came with wedge potatoes I think...I remember it was very good, especially the salad. I don't remember what it was called, but there were heirloom apples and gogonzola maybe? I'd order it again...really delicious. They seemed to have alot to choose from on the menu that appealed to both my BF and I as a pre-run meal. But really, where you decide to dine is going to have to be determined more by what you know works with your stomach pre-run. I don't tend to have any GI issues with most foods so I can usually find something just about anywhere that will work for me. One good thing about the Wave...it's normally not too crowded. We didn't even have an ADR the last time we ate there for lunch and were seated immediately.

I officially registeredbefore the price increase! Are any of you guys planning on running in costume? I am considering running as Ursula and my friend is considering running as Hades. I am not sure how comfortable I feel about running in a costume.

I will def. be in costume. I'm still deciding between snow white (my fav.) or a glow in the dark tink. I'll be there for MNSSHP as well so I'll need a costume to work double duty. I just can't imagine a disney race w/out wearing someting fun.

Thanks Cripey, Disneyrunner2009 and MaryJ! I hadn't thought about caffeinated shot blocks, I will defintely try those. I have a really sensitive stomach, but I have 6 months to figure out a plan that works.

I just made all of my dinning reservations for the trip, and we are going to do a late breakfast buffet and then maybe an early dinner at the resort food court. POR has great pasta!

Hollie, I love the idea of a glow in the dark Tink!

Does anyone know when the closest MNSSHP to the race will be?

No promises that park hours = party nights, but MK closes at 7pm on both Friday the 28th and Sunday the 30th, so it looks likely that there will be parties both those nights.

I think a glow in the dark tink wold be awesome!!!! If I can't find the glow in the dark stuff I'll use the lime green reflective clothing :thumbsup2 it's a night race so I'll be in something bright.

I was just wondering if anyone knew the date the tickets for the post-race Villians Bash will go on sale? I can only find "early April."

I agree, with your statement about POR pasta. My family usually splits an order.

Can you add the dining package? Right now I have a 7 day free dining package at POR wondering if it'll be cheaper going through rundisney.

For me it worked better to keep my free dining package. That was because we're doing a full week and I can go ahead and upgrade the park tickets to an annual pass for the incremental cost. Since we'll be down again after Christmas, I want the annual pass. If you're thinking about another Disney race this year, you might want to run the math on buying 2 sets of ticket with the race discount versus free dining and upgrading your MYW tickets to 10 days nonexpiring.

Looks like the race is filling up pretty quickly--I just went to the RunDisney site and noticed that it's at 78% as of today!

I noticed that too- yikes!!:scared1: I told a friend of mine to hurry and sign up or she wouldn't be able to run it. I hope I can convince her to dress up a little with me!

Party dates haven't been announced yet. In the past they were on Tuesdays and Fridays from mid-September to Halloween. Assuming Disney follows the same schedule they have for years, the closest MNSSHP will be Friday, 9/28. :cool1: I'm going! I'll be the crazy woman in a wedding dress with purple fairy wings. Look for me emerging from the BBB early in the night.

I know! My husband just agreed that he would walk it and I went over to register us. 78% full AND the registration link doesn't want to work.

erggh!

I registered! Wow! I have never done anything like this before! Am I totally crazy to start off with a 10 miler?! I am planning on doing a local 5k in June, which will be my very first race ever.

We are booked on a cruise leaving out of port canaveral on Sept 30th, and I've always liked the idea of being a runner, so when i read about this fun race, I figured it was meant to be!

We will be staying at Caribbean beach resort and scored the free dining plan! :cool1: woo Hoo!

My first race was the Disney Marathon. Admittedly, I ended up dropping down to the half, but I went from nothing in May, to 13.1 the next January. So, at least from my perspective, you're not crazy at all! :)
