Official 'how to get from point A to point B while at WDW' thread.

We are staying at POR, and have a 7:45 ressie at Ohana and then 8 am ressies at grand floridian , DHS, Tusker house and Akerhaus. Do any of the busses go from hotel to hotel? If not would we be better off taking a cab? There will be 6 of us.

We had an 8 am ressie at Kona and made it there by taking the MK bus and then the monorail. Just make sure you get in line for the 7:15 bus.

If you are planning on cabbing it for all those ressies, depending on your length of stay it may be almost cheaper to rent a car with 6 people. Just a thought if you are pricing it out!

Buses start running each morning by 6:30. But they run only to the parks. There are no resort to resort buses......well, not unless you count the buses that have multiple reaorts on their routes, like the buses that go to BW, S/D, YC/BC, etc. and these early morning buses come less frequently than regular buses do.
you will need to get to a park that is close to the resort you need to get to. But keep in mind that it will take longer than usual.

So, with that in mind.....from POR to....
'Ohana....bus to MK. Be out at the stop by 6:30-6:45. Then, take the monorail over to 'Ohana/Polynesian. The monorail starts running by 7.
Grand Floridian....same as 'Ohana. Get off the monorail at the GF. Or, take the little boat from MK.
DHS....bus to DHS about an hour prior to your ADR.
Tusker House...be out at the AK bus stop by 6:45.
Akershus....at Epcot bus stop by 6:30ish. It will take about 15 or so mins to walk back to Norway.

You can take cabs. There are van cabs available for larger groups.

We need to get to a 7:45 a.m. reservation for Cape May from Port Orleans. How do we accomplish this? Also, we are planning to go either to Epcot or possibly Hollywood Studios after. Do we just walk?

Thanks!

You can take the bus to DHS and then walk to Cape May. You should be at the bus stop by 6:30.

Or you can save yourself about an hour and take a cab for about $15 plus tip.

Afterwards you can walk to Epcot or you can walk or take the boat to DHS.

Can I get a bus from DHS to DTD? If not, how should I do that? How about the reverse?

TIA!!

You'll need to transfer at a resort - take the boat to the Swan or the Dolphin (I can't remember which one is first.)

I noticed on another thread that you're planning on having dinner at HOB at 8:00 and need to be back at DHS before it closes at 10:00. There is absolutely no way that you can do that using Disney transportation - you just won't have time. The only way you'll make it is by cab, and even then you'll need to eat very quickly and ask for the check as soon as you're finished ordering. If there is any delay at all you won't make it. You'll need to be out of the restaurant no later than 9:15.

Personally, I would find somewhere else to have dinner or get an ADR at 7:00 or before.

Yeah, I was worried about that, I'm thinking we might just take the car that day. And we don't necessarily need to be back for Fantasmic. We've never seen it, so we don't know what we're missing, it was just an idea in the back of my head so I thought I'd prep for it just in case. Thanks so much!!!

I am glad I found this thread. My family will be going to WDW the first time in October. :yay: We have some late ADR at resort restaurants. Please help with the transportation. Is taxi the only option to get back to my resort (CSR)? DM will have a scooter. Thanks!

1. From HS to GF, ADR 9pm at Narcoossee ,GF to CSR
2. From AK to Broadwalk, ADR 7pm at Kouzinna, Broadwalk to CSR
3. CSR to Polynesian, ADR 9:45 pm at Ohana, Polynesian to CSR

Are you leaving the parks for the dining reservations? Depending on the park hours- and many close at 5 or 7 pm - you could easily enjoy full days at the parks and the head to dining. That may be what you are doing. Here is how we do it:
All the books, CM's say to allow 1.5-2 hr to travel to the different locations. It has rarely taken us that much time but it could if busses are delayed, full. Your best bet to get between parks and hotels and downtown is to take the WDW bus or monorail or walk to the hotel where your reservation is. If it is at another park , we take the bus to the hotel closest to the park and then wait at that hotel going to the location you want to be. Does that make sense? (Ex: if we're at AK and want to get to restaurants right near EPCOT, we take bus to AK Lodge and then transfer to a bus going to Epcot. We exit at EPCOT and then cut through to get to restaurants in Yacht Club or Beach Club or the Boardwalk ) For your HS to Narcoosees you could take boat to Epcot, then walk through to front and catch the monorail.) We love Narcoosees and that is one restaurant we brought a change of clothes for and changed in one of the ladies/men's lounges at GF.
You'll be at WDW for the Food and Wine Festival and there is simply so much food at that time, unless we book one of the special events, we just eat our way around the world. On the days where we are at parks that close at 5 or 7, we hustle on back to EPCOT for dinner- again around the world. There are so many not to miss pavilions, events, and dishes, the festival has become an almost annual tradition for us the last 9 years.
On our upcoming trip, also in October, we only made dining reservations one night in Downtown. That night MK closes at 7p and we reserved Raglan Road for 9 pm. At most restaurants, people are dressed VERY casually, in their daytime park clothes. The nights we do need to 'dress', we bring our change of clothes, shoes in a backpack and put them in a locker in the morning. Before we leave the park, we clean up a little and change before heading to our 'fancier' dinner reservation. We'll even do that for Party for the Senses at the F&W Fest. this year , because there is a dress code for that, even though we'll be at EPCOT and our hotel is close to EPCOT. ( We hate giving up park time.) Bring those wrinkle free outfits that will look great even after spending a day in a locker. My family knows to buy me only clothing that travels easily. Lots of great stores out there , online, with those type of items.
Have a great time.

1. Bus from DHS to GF; bus from GF to Downtown Disney, transfer to bus to CBR (or bus to EMH park if there's one and transfer; or taxi for speed)
2. Bus from AK to Boardwalk Resort, walk to Kouzzina; walk back to Boardwalk, bus from there to Downtown Disney, transfer to bus to CBR (or bus/walk to EMH park if there's one and transfer; or taxi for speed)

My bad... My apologies to the moderators as I believe I may have placed this orig. mesg on the wrong board! So I am re posting here on this thread as it seems I'm at the right spot now? haha..

My Family and I (5 of us) are desperately trying to get to Contemporary for a 7:05 adr from AoA... Sooo if what I'm reading is correct, no matter if I take a bus or taxi, we need to leave AoA by 630a? But the AoA bus to MK will be there at 630?

*On a side note, I spoke to Dining about this and they told me to take the bus (to a resort mind you) and then monorail... isn't there a path from TTC that may be quicker than another bus or the monorail??

TIA!!!

Tell the bus driver that you are breakfasting at BC, and bus transportation will be arranged.
I've been lucky enough to get dropped at the resort I need to get to, but it hasn't always happened that way. Is this something new? I didn't think that was the case.....taking a bus to a nearby park and getting dropped at the resort you need to get to.

Here's the issue. The buses start running by 6:30 every morning. BUT...they run less frequently than regular buses. So, if you miss that first bus? The next one won't be along for over 20 mins, which means there is no way you will make that ADR. So, even if you're out at the MK bus stop by 6:15, and you're on that first bus to MK at 6:30, it's going to be tight. You can tell the driver you're headed to the CR for a 7:05 ADR and he 'might' offer to just drop you at the CR on his way to MK..if no one else is on the bus. Or, he may offer to drop you on the way out of MK. Now, you can walk to the CR from the MK..takes under 10 mins. But, you should be at the podium for breakfast a bit before your ADR.

Your AoA bus will not go to the TTC! No Disney resort buses go there. You will go to the MK bus area. Some take the monorail but it doesn't start running until 7. If you're concerned, I would just take a cab to the CR from AoA. Get the cab for 6:45ish.

Hmmm... cool... so lets just assume then that we get to the bus on time... once we get to MK, is there a walking path to CR from there?

After getting our girls up this early I have to make sure to get them movin and groovin to wake up their appetite too! hahaha...

mmbl, thank you for all your tips. They are very helpful. I was wondering how my family can change into nicer clothes after a full day at the park. Now there is a solution :)

3. Bus to MK, monorail/launch to Polynesian; monorail/launch to MK, bus to Downtown Disney, transfer to bus to CBR (or bus to EMH park if there's one and transfer; or taxi for speed)

Kaytieeldr, thank you for the information. It is good to know there is still free transportation after dinner. :)

I'm just talking about DHS to the Epcot resorts.

Since DHS is the place Guests are supposed to go to transfer to the Epcot resorts, it's sort of unofficial policy to provide bus transportation before the boats start running. Depending on circumstances, the Guests may be dropped off by their DHS bus, or they may be deposited in a load zone for another bus to pick them up.

So I just realized that we've got tickets for the 6:00PM La Nouba and then we've got an Illuminations Fireworks Cruise leaving the Yachtsman Marina. Check in is at 8:00 but we're the only ones on the boat so we're not holding up another party on the same boat if we were to be a few minutes laste. Can I make it from DTD to the Marina in 30 minutes by cab? Or should we plan on stepping out of La Nouba early?

It's easy to find. When you get off the bus, just head to the main entrance to MK. At the top of the bus stop area, to your right, and under the monorail line, you will go right..there is a sidewalk that runs almost directly beneath the monorail. The people going to MK will head to the left. Just follow the sidewalk to the street...there is a pedestrian crossing signal..use the button!!! Cross the street and you're at the CR parking lot. Walk in front of the CR, and enter through the main front door. And you're there. You will have to take the escalator or elevator up to the restaurant though. The walk is under 10 mins.

Okay, that makes more sense. Thanks.

The actual ride from DTD to the YC/BC is about 10-15 mins. So you should be fine.
