Official 'how to get from point A to point B while at WDW' thread.

I'm thinking we may want to stop at the Boardwalk on our way from DHS to Epcot.

Does the boat stop at all the hotels when it's going from DHS to Epcot? Or would it just be easier to walk?

Are there plenty of signs to direct me either way? I have been known to get lost...

There is a walkway, it is a bit of a walk. Could easily take the boat & get off at the Boardwalk stop, the boat stops at the swan/Dolphin, BW & Y&BC before going to Epcot. It is a very easy walk from Boardwalk to Epcot.

What's the best way to get from POR to Captains Grill at YC for a breakfast reservation at 8:30? I'm assuming bus to HS then bus or walk to YC? How much time should I give myself?

Thanks!

That's probably your best bet. If your ADR is at 8:30, you need to be on the bus to DHS by 7:15. That should get you to DHS by 7:45. Then, you can walk to YC..will take about 20 mins via the sidewalk (go to the end and then turn left, exit the Boardwalk area, up a slight slope and turn right down the bridge. YC will be on your left.
Or you can take the boat, but the wait can add time (up to 20 mins) and the ride to YC/BC is about 20 mins.

you can take the boat...it will leave DHS and go to the S/D, then to YC/BC, then to BW and on to Epcot. The ride (without any wait time) will be about 15 mins. If you decide to walk, you will leave DHS, walking towards the canal. The boat dock will be on the left, parking lot on the right. Go to the right of the canal, parking lot on the right. Follow the sidewalk a little bit (about a min) and you will come to a slight downward turn to the left. There should be signage there pointing that this is the way to Boardwalk. Keep on that sidwalk and you'll end up on the hind side of BW, get to the end and go right, onto the boardwalk itself. The walk takes about 15 mins.

How do i get from animal kingdom to 1900 park fare?
Take the bus to the GF.

I need info on leaving enough time getting from parks back to hotel, shower/change (we are quick 40 minutes) and get to dinner.

Travelling in mid-September 2013 staying at the Wilderness Lodge, all dining reservations confirmed

Day one - late arrival at Epcot (lunchtime) - dinner 7:20 at the Yachtsman Steakhouse. What time to leave park?

Day two - Magic Kingdom day. Dinner at our hotel 8:05 PM. What time to leave park?

Day 3 - Hollywood Studios Day. Dinner at the Wave at 7:50 PM. What time to leave park?

Day 4 - Dinner at our hotel at 7:35 PM. What time to leave park?

Day 5 - Departure day. Visiting DTD. Flight at 6:45 PM What time to leave park to have enought time for a quick lunch back at Wilderness Lodge and catch the Magical Express to airport.

TIA!

I'll take a stab at it.
1. Do you really need to go back to WL to shower and change? I would try to do all that before you hit Epcot. Here's why. You should leave about 3.5 hrs to leave a park, go back to your resort and shower/change, and get to dinner....especially a dinner at another resort. Yachtsman Steak House is about a 10 min walk out the back door of Epcot. You would be some much better off just walking there vs heading back to WL. If you go back to WL, you should plan to be out of Epcot by 4. Then, you could do one of two things to get to Yachtsman....a. take a boat to MK and transfer to the YC/BC bus. or b. bus to Epcot and walk all the way through it again (should take about 20 mins to walk front to back).

2. MK to WL will take about 45 mins. So, go from there as far as changing goes. That time includes possible wait times.

3. Leave DHS around 4-4:30.

4. Not sure where you're coming from. For ADRs within your resort, figure on leaving most parks about 2.5-3 hrs prior to your ADR.

5. Your DME p/u time will be around 3:45. You need to be out at the DME bus stop at least 15 mins prior to the time you are given. Bus wait times going to, and from, DTD can be lenghty. So plan on leaving DTD 11-11:30ish. That should get you back to WL by 12:30...hopefully.

the thing to keep in mind is that going from resort to resort can take 90 mins or more. So plan accordingly. From park to resort, or resort to park? Figure on an hour. This allows for any longer than usual wait times for the buses. It shouldn't take that long, but better to be early than late.

My BF and I have reservations for Sanaa at 5:25, and we are staying at the AoA. What would be the best way to get there? Bus to DTD and then bus to Kidani? Is that possible? (I've never used the buses before).

I would take the bus to AK, then transfer to the bus to AKL/Kidani. The bus to DTD takes forever to get to the resort, then, off the bus and another wait for the bus to AKL/Kidani!!!

I asked that question about a week ago-exept we are staying at POR. Bus to AK is your best choice -however AK closes earlier than other parks so check when it closes because when it is--no buses. Buses at DTD are apparently very slow-often a 30 min wait. So the final conclusion was any park bus(MK- is the most out of the way-so longest ride) then bus to Kidani

With an ADR at 5:30ish, AK should still be open. In any case, the poster would want to leave their resort by 4:30 so they would have plenty of time. The buses would still be running to AK at that time, making it easy to transfer to an AKL bus.

We are staying at Art of Animation on 10/25 (MK hours open at 9 am that day), we have breakfast reservations at 7:15 AM at Chef Mickey's at Contemporary. Originally, we were going to have a rental car our entire stay, so no issues, however, after numerous changes to our travel plans we will no longer have a rental car.

My questions:
1) Can this be done using Disney buses/monorail? What time do they start running? I would have no problem catching the bus by 6:30 AM if needed.
2) If things take longer than the typical 30-45 minutes, can we be a little late, and is it better to call ahead to let them know?
3) If not, how much will a taxi cost? There will be 6 of us (4A/2C ages 4) my MIL will have an ECV that she would also like to take with so we don't have to go back to the room after breakfast, prior to going to the park.

4) We have already tried to reschedule the reservations to a dinner/lunch/later breakfast, but no luck. Is it still possible that something could come available? I am concerned, as there is a rumor about FD being available for those dates, and starting as early as Monday for Disney Visa.

Thanks!
Corey

It will be tight using the Disney buses. They start running every morning by 6:30. But, here's the issue....if you get to the bus stop and the bus is just leaving, you may face a wait of up to 25+ mins! I would get to the bus stop by 6:15. That should get you on that first MK bus. When you get on the bus, ask the driver if it's faster walking or taking the monorail to the CR. The driver may offer to drop you right at the CR, especially if there is no one else on that bus! If you get taken to MK? Hop off and walk quickly over to MK. The monorail starts running by 7 but it usually takes less time to just walk over. You can be a little bit late, especially that early, but don't dilly dally.
A cab would be the best case scenario. It shouldn't be 'too' much, but I guess that's a relative term. You should be able to have a van cab called. Ask at Luggage Assistance at AoA. That way you will all fit and the ECV should as well.

According to taxifarefinder.com it'll be about $18 to $25, plus tip.

That seems like a pretty low estimate, the shortest route is a little over 6 miles, that would put the fare at approx $18-$20 plus tip, so it will depend on which route the driver takes and how many lights he hits.

It was - I corrected it. For some reason, it has AOA in the wrong location.

Hi

Has anyone traveled to Orlando via train? My in-laws aren't a fan of flying and have too many health issues to drive. Is there available (and affordable) transportation from the train station to Disney? Or from the train station to the airport so they can catch DME? Thanks!

We're staying at BC. Is it possible for us to use the back entrance of Epcot, do a quick ride at RD (probably Soarin' depending on the line) and head to TTC to catch a bus at AKL for a late breakfast at Boma? I was thinking about 10:30 am breakfast time. Am I crazy for even attempting it?

Yes, but don't go to the TTC - There isn't a bus to AKL from there. You can just take the bus from Epcot to AKL.

They can take a cab. The fare will depend on where they are staying. Affordable is in the eye of the beholder. You can look it up at www.taxifarefinder.com

The Kississimee station is closer to WDW than the Orlando Station.
