Official 'how to get from point A to point B while at WDW' thread.

Just checking with the experts, because I never stay on this side of the resort...

My friends are staying at Beach Club and I am going to book either a value or moderate hotel, since I can't afford BC. Is there any hotel that comes to mind that is either on the same waterway route or has easy transport to BC? ...or should I just focus on meeting them at the parks?

thanks :lovestruc

If being near your friends at the BC is a priority, you might price out the Swan and/or Dolphin. They are often very comparable in price to the mods, and are a short walk to BC.

If you choose one of the on site mods, then yes, just focus on meeting at the parks and / or make dinner plans together

There are no moderates or values on the same waterway - only deluxes. Any other resort will require a bus to DHS and then a boat (or walk) to the Beach Club.

I would just pick what ever resort works best for you and meet them at the parks.

No, sorry.

But if you're not set on a Disney resort, you could try the Swan or Dolphin, which are within walking distance and also served by the same boat. I think some people have reported getting deals comparable to a Disney moderate.

Although the Swan & Dolphin are not run by Disney, they do participate in EMH, and get the same Disney Transport service as the BW, YC, & BC. What you don't get is any Disney free dining plans, and if you have a car they charge (heftily) for parking. I don't know whether their guests get free theme park parking, but I would think not.

We will be staying at POR and we have an ADR for Sanaa in AKL. I have heard of several ways to get there

1. bus to MK then bus to AKL

2 Bus to DTD then bus to AKL

3 Bus to AK then bus to AKL

Which would be the quickest? which would involve the least walking?

It really depends on the time. Option 3 is the best option. If the ADR is after AK closes, you'll need to go with option 1 (although DHS or Epcot would be better.) Option 2 would be a last resort.

If the ADR is for breakfast, you'll be better off with option 4 - take a cab.

Thank you so much. I didn't even think about AK closing early. ADR is 5:20pm so we are prob leaving POR around 4:20 Park closes at 5pm that day so would a bus to there still be running about 1/2 hour before closing? or would our best bet be to plan on going to MK but if a AK bus gets there first-take it?

MK is the worst option - it's way out of the way.

I would just take whatever bus shows up first - either AK, DHS, or Epcot.

On the way back, take a bus to an open park (preferably DHS or Epcot) and transfer there.

I got out my map of disney and wow you are right MK is really out of the way.

So what is so wrong with going to DTD? It is very close to POR

Downtown Disney has notoriously slow bus service. We've always had good luck with buses - the only times we've ever waited more than 10 minutes were at DTD. The shortest wait we've ever had at DTD was 25 minutes.

My DH and I will be at WDW in January, and I'm booking him the Exotic Driving Experience. What will be the best way to get from POR to the Speedway? We will not have a car, so relying solely on Disney Transportation.

Thanks!

The Speedway will pick you up at the TTC; ask them about whether you need reservations or who to call.

To get from POR to TTC, take the bus to the MK, and then the monorail or ferryboat to the TTC. The pick-up location is in the Theme Park Lost & Found parking lot, which will be past the ticket booths and to your left as you come off the monorail or ferryboat.

Any good way of getting from POFQ over to AKL for Boma breakfast ressie? Is cab my best bet if we don't have a car?

You could take the bus to DAK. That same bus may continue on to AKL, or you may have to change buses at DAK. You should allow 75 minutes travel time.

If you take a cab, I'd suggest allowing 30 minutes.

What's the best way to get from POR to Captains Grill at YC for a breakfast reservation at 8:30? I'm assuming bus to HS then bus or walk to YC? How much time should I give myself?

Thanks!

I'm thinking we may want to stop at the Boardwalk on our way from DHS to Epcot.

Does the boat stop at all the hotels when it's going from DHS to Epcot? Or would it just be easier to walk?

Are there plenty of signs to direct me either way? I have been known to get lost...
