Official 'how to get from point A to point B while at WDW' thread.

Are there taxis available at Downtown Disney near Cirque or do I need to call one? If I need to call, what company services the area? I need to get to the castle for dinner following an early Cirque show and do not want to try Disney transportation. Any help will be greatly appreciated.

The answer to your question is YES there are taxis on that end of the DTD area as well as points back to the east (Planet Hollywood, etc...) and I would most certainly catch a cab as you will be more than likely to make your adr!!
Have Fun!!
:banana::banana:

I also wanted to add that I have heard that the cabs cannot drop you at the entrance to MK, but would be dropping you at TTC & then you would have to monorail or boat it over. It would likely be quicker to have a cab drop you at the Contemporary & then walk to MK.:)

OOhhh!! good job DannysMom I forgot the taxis are only allowed to drop you at the TTC, actually you can have them drop you at the GF and then its the first stop on the Monorail over to the MK as the CR is a bit of a hike (not bad just a small hike) to the MK that way you should be able to make your adr!!

Under 10 mins from the CR to MK via the sidewalk that runs beneath the monorail. When heading to the MK from GF it could take longer than that..you need to get up to the monorail station platform, wait for the monorail to come and then 5 mins to MK. I would go to CR and walk.

Ok we have reservations for Park Fare at 7:20pm and would like to check out the Poly after we eat because I may like to stay there some time. Then we will need to get from Poly to POFQ what's the best way to do this ? I'm not familiar with GF or Poly, for I have never been to either. I was thinking of going from Poly to DTD and take the boat back to POFQ ?

GF to Poly is easy, it's a nice walk down the beach or you can get on the resort monorail & ride it around, nearly the full loop.

I'm thinking by the time you want to get from the Poly to POFQ, it will be pretty late. Certainly the DTD route will work if you don't mind the time it will take. If you'd rather get back quicker just have Bell Services flag you a cab.:)

How much would a cab cost from Poly to POFQ ? Have any idea ?

We have an ADR for Tusker house in the morning of an EMH at AK. We are staying at BLT and think we should try to get out the door to wait for a bus around 7am. Do you think this would be okay or should be get a taxi?

I would take the bus.

Buses start running at about 6:30ish. They don't run as frequently as the 'regular' buses do though...so plan accordingly. Plan on being out at the bus stop no less than an hour before your ADR...a bit earlier is best. If your ADR is for, say, 8:30, be out at 7:15ish. That way, if you just miss a bus, you won't be late due to waiting for the next one to get there. The buses tend to come about every 25 mins or so, then it's every 15 or so when you get to an hour before park opening.

With it being an EMH morning, you may find the regular buses running around 7ish.

Is there a map showing the route of the monorail or can someone explain it to me.We are staying at G.F. and wonder where the monorail goes to and from ?

The monorail, serving the GF, is the Resort Line. It travels, clockwise, from GF to MK, then to the CR, then to TTC, to Polynesian and then back to GF.
If you want to go to Epcot, you would take the Resort Line to the TTC, and then transfer to the Epcot line there.
There is also an Express Line, that runs counterclockwise, between the TTC and MK..it doesn't make any other stops.
The Express and Resort lines run beside each other.

There is also a boat that runs between the GF, Polynesian and MK. It leaves the MK, goes to GF and then to Polynesian and then back to MK.

The monorails start running about 7am, and stop running about an hour after the park closes to the general public.

Thats simple enough,thanks.

Hi, do monorails start running any earlier if the MK opens early?
1) For AM EMH?
2) If MK opens to general public at 8AM because it's Christmas week, for example?

Thanks.

IF the MK were to be opening at, say, 7am, the monorail would more than likely start running at 6. For an EMH morning, the monorail will be running for resorts guests to get to MK.
7am is a pretty early start time since the park seldom opens before 8am. And even for an 8am opening, 7am is still fine for the monorails to start.

We plan to spend the morning at Epcot. We have ressies for Fantasmic Dinner package at 4 pm in HS. While one person drives the car to the DS parking lot, can the rest of us catch the boat from Beach Club and ride it to HS? How long would it take?

We're not staying onsite. Does that mean we cannot use the Disney transportation?

All guests can use Disney transportation. Make sure that whoever is moving the car has the parking receipt from the AM so they won't have to pay again (and the keys, LOL.)

Not sure why you would walk to the BC, as you can catch the HS boat right outside the International Gateway. Probably take about 1/2 a hour or so, as it stops at all the Epcot area resorts, longer if you have a long wait for a boat. :goodvibes
