Official 'how to get from point A to point B while at WDW' thread.

Don't remember there being many signs, but here's a map that should help.

Thanks all :thumbsup2
And of course I have another question.....lol.
When leaving through International Gateway (on foot) are there signs pointing us to the trail to H.Studios? And are they lit up?
Don't know whether there are signs to the Studios from IG, but what you'll be doing is walking from IG to the Boardwalk, and from Boardwalk to the Studios, and there should be signs for those.

Basically, when you leave IG, walk up the hill and left across the first bridge to the BW, which is a big crescent shape. At the other end of the crescent, turn left again and that path will take you under the road right to the Studios.

There is a shortcut where you can turn left before you reach the end of the BW and come out by the pool, but I'm not familiar with it so I'll leave it for someone else to describe.

Glad to have discovered this thread on Dis. We are going from AKL to Olivia's (for lunch) at OKW, but this I guess can only be done by way of busses. So my question is that after we are done dining at Olivia's, we are going to be heading to DHS. Is there a boat that can take us to there from Olivia's?

TIA

Sorry, but no, your only option would be to take a bus from the HH area bus stop ( just outside of Olivas ) to DHS.
If you're in a hurry a taxi will get you there quicker.
If you'd like to ride a boat, you can do it on the way to lunch, but you'll need to allow extra time.

You need to change buses at a park or DTD anyway. Take the bus from AKL to DTD, and ask the driver to let you off at the Pleasure Island stop. At the PI boat dock, you can catch a boat to OKW.

Bus service to DTD starts about 8:30 a.m. Service to the PI stop officially starts at 11 a.m., but the driver should be willing to drop you off there earlier. If you get a persnickety driver who refuses, you can walk or take the water taxi from Marketplace to PI. Boat service starts at 10 a.m.

You should allow 90 minutes to make the trip, because the DTD bus will probably stop at Typhoon Lagoon on the way, and the boat trip takes a while.

When you get to Boardwalk (after turning left and crossing the bridge)...as you get to the boat dock area, you will see the Village Green, behind the surrey bike rental area. Head over to the Green, staying on the right side of it....head to Wyland Galleries. As you pass Wyland G., you will see a tunnel, on the right. Go through, you will come out at the pool area. Cross through the pool, to the left of it, behind Leaping Horse Libations. You will see the sidewalk that runs behind BW, heading to DHS...go left on the sidewalk. The canal will be on your right, BW on your left. Just keep walking, you will be at DHS in about 12 mins.

Cutting through the green and pool area cuts off a bit of walking. Normally you would walk all the way past BW, with the lake on your right, until you get to Jellyrolls, then go left and see the end of that sidewalk to DHS right there, behind Jellyrolls. But, that's the long way around.

FANTASTIC! This board is amazing! Thank you ALL so much! I'm going to make myself a map/guide and time it. If we leap tall buildings in a single bound and run faster than a speeding bullet we might just make that Fantasmic show after all. I will definitely let you know ;)

Last month during the beginnings of my disney research, I found a park map with estimated walking times between attractions. Do you think I can find it again? I thought I saved them. Nup. I thought I bookmarked them. Nup. Searching my history brings on major firefox crashage as usual. I suffered through checking my history but still couldn't find what I was trying to find. Maybe I dreamt finding Disney maps with estimated walking times between attractions?

Can't help you there....I don't think I've ever seen anything like that. I guess the times are going to vary according to time of year and time of day. A Tuesday in early March in MK is going to give you a different time between Space Mt and BTMRR than a Sat in June.

I think the maps in the Passporter have walking times.

Thanks. I was going to ask over there if they did, I've had the book added to my cart on a bookstore for a couple of weeks I really should just bite the bullet.

I asked my best friend (read:complained long and loud to her) last night and she said I didn't dream it because I had actually found it while I was on the phone to her, I was ooohing and ahhhing and was ever so pleased with myself. If I was distracted on the phone that explains why I didn't end up bookmarking it. I'll certainly share it if I come across it in my dis research travels:rotfl:

Okay, I need help again ...

We moved resorts and are now going to stay at Port Orleans French Quarter.

We are planning to make rope drop at MK & HS ... not sure if it's worth it for AK.
How long will it take to get there from our new resort? Should we still be at the bus stop an hour prior to rope drop?

So we are staying at AKL - Kidani Village for the first time on our next trip and I'm wondering about transportation time to the Magic Kingdom. Does the resort's remote location make it too time prohibitive to come back for a brief rest in the afternoon? We only have one day at the MK (I know, it's terrible) and I want to make the most of it!

I would still be out at the bus stop an hour before rope drop....but remember, you will have a lot of company. This is a very popular time of day to head out.
Also...I love being at AK for rope drop. But, that's just me.

Depends on the time of year. If the park is open really late, then sure, head back to the resort. Yes, Kidani is kind of remote, but I never thought we were too far away from stuff...just plan accordingly.
If the park is open until just 7pm, and it's not all that hot/humid, then why not just stay there??? Book a sit down meal in the area and relax for an hour or so. You will spend at least 90 mins going to and from the resort...and it could be closer to 2 hrs. Not such a great idea if the park closes early.

An hour before, even if we are farther away from the park at the new resort? Yes, I understand ... we once did rush hour in the subways of Tokyo ... we can handle cramped! :rotfl:
May I ask why you enjoy AK rope drop? We're thinking we might, but not sure.

It's not that I enjoy rope drop, per se, at AK so much, it's that I love being among the first to enter the park. I walk fairly quickly so I get to move about the park with few others.

Even though your new resort 'seems' to be further away from a park, they are all pretty equidistant by bus. Other than AKL, I just don't think there is all that much difference in resort bus times to AK....but I'm not actually timing the ride.

I don't think the rope drop show itself is that big of a deal, but if you're there at rope drop, you will be able to get more done in those first 2-1/2 hours than you will the whole rest of the day.

Being first must feel very magical ^_^
I understand about the distance lol and I don't expect anyone times the ride unless their sole purpose is to post the times on here :lmao:
Thanks so much for your input! We'll be sure to be at the bus stop an hour before rope drop :)

Mhmm, that's exactly why we were thinking of going to rope drops for all parks we're visiting, we want to make sure we can get things done :)

Oh, believe me...I'm not looking for 'magical'...not even looking to be 'first'..I just want to get in there and get started. If I waited to get there until right around 9ish, I would be at the very back of the entering pack..hate that. I want to be in the first group.
And I have actually sat there, with paper and pen in hand, to time travel. BUT..generally speaking it's only for DME times. I don't much care about the resort to park times. I pretty much know how much time to allot in the morning.

What is the quickest way from DTD to Epcot directly? Is there a resort close to Epcot that we could take their bus instead of going back to our resort and then to epcot?

And if I wanted to get to the Floridian Resort to SS resort, what would be the fastest way?

The quickest way will usually be by taxi.
DTD Marketplace to Epcot approx 10 minute and about $15, by Disney transportation approx 1 hour, and you would have to go to either BW or BC and than walk to International Gateway to enter Epcot.

Grand Floridian to Saratoga Springs if that is what you meant, approx 15 minutes by taxi and about $20-$22, by Disney transportation figure 60-90 minutes.
