Official 'how to get from point A to point B while at WDW' thread.

Hi - Hoping you can help me with these questions?
1) Eating at Cape May at 5:15 pm. Want to see Fantasmic at 8 pm. Can you please give exact directions to walk to DHS from Cape May? I know we can do it - I just don't know how :sad2:
2) Also heard that there's a boat from EPCOT to DHS. Is the boat lauch inside EPCOT or can we catch the boat instead?
3) Need to go from DHS to WWOS (to pick up 5K/Mini packets). Is it true that the bus from DHS to WWOS no longer runs? What's my option to get from DHS to WWOS? And, if I decide to catch a cab, where would these cabs be parked at?
4) And, lastly, are there cabs available at EPCOT on the 5K morning (thinking of going back to resort quickly to take a shower before going to MK in hope of seeing the Opening Ceremony)?

Thanks for any help you can provide.

I didn't know #3 or #4.

1 and 2 - Leave Beach Club out the back door of the lobby. The boat dock is front of you, to the right - in front of the Yacht Club. That's where the DHS boat is.

Other choice - walk. Leave BC lobby out the back door, turn left. Walk along the path to the bridge. Turn right over the bridge. Continue on across the Boardwalk. At the Boardwalk Inn village green (where they rent the surrey bikes), cut into a walkway that is between the shops on the right hand side (art gallery on one side). This pops you out by the clown pool at the BW. Cut through the pool area and you will come out on the walkway to DHS (this is a shortcut vs. walking all the way to the end of the boardwalk, which you can also do). Walk. Eventually you will walk by the bus stops for DHS and head right for the park entrance. That sounds more complicated than it is when you write it out. It's really very simple.

Here's a map:
http://www.stitchkingdom.com/maps/index.php?showmap=14

I will say that I have never used the orange path in front of YC/BC marked on the map - I have only come the way I described. One time - many years ago, we walked from YC to the Swan/Dolphin boat docks and I thought it took an eternity - weaving in and around the sidewalks around the water - perhaps we didn't follow the right sidewalk - but I have never headed that direction since then - we always go over the Boardwalk side from the BC. My way is following the pink path all the way around to the darker blue path to the BC.

Danielle, we too are going in February and have an 8pm Boma ressie and need to get back to Pop! It will be our first time at Boma and we can't wait. Hope you have a great time!

1.) Following the orange path shown on the above map link is a tad bit shorter than the pink/blue route. You can also get the boat to DHS at the dock in front of the YC, the boat ride is about the same amount of time as the walk, but could take longer depending on how long you have to wait for a boat.

2.) The boat dock at Epcot IG is outside of Epcot, the trip to DHS from Epcot will be 35-45 min as the boat will stop at BW, YC/BC, S/D and then DHS. The walk from Epcot IG exit to DHS entrance is approx 1.2 miles via the pink path.

3.) The taxi stand is located just beyond the bus stops in the DHS parking area. The cab fare from DHS to WWOS should be approx $9-$10 plus tip. You might want to have the cab wait for you while you pick up your packet because it might take a while to get another one at WWOS if there is nothing going on there.

4.) The cab stand at Epcot is located at the bus stop area, and I would think should be operating normally.

The fastest way back to Pop at that time would be by taxi at a cost of approx $12-$15 plus tip and take about 10-15 min tops.
The free way would be to take bus from AKL to DTD and then a bus from DTD to Pop, approx travel time 1 1/2 hours depending on waiting times.
If there is another park open at that hour you could bus to that park and then to Pop, but it will likely take just as long.

How long will it take us to go from POFQ to Hoop Dee Doo? Should we take the bus to MK and catch the boat to FW?

Thank you! (2 more days!!!!!!!!!)

I would take a taxi to the FW Outpost (2 miles), approx $6-$8 and take 5 minutes, and then the FW internal bus from there to Pioneer Hall. Total time approx 20-30 minutes.

Bus to MK and then boat to FW and a short walk to Pioneer Hall, allow 90 minutes. It can be pretty cool in the evenings this time of year so dress appropriately for the boat ride.

If time is of the essence, then sure, take a cab. But for most of us, time just isn't that big a deal. I have always just headed to MK and then taken the boat over to FtW. The boat dock is about a 2 min walk (if that) from Pioneer Hall. It's a very pleasant way to go. It would only take 90 mins from POFQ to HDDR if you had the longest waits possible for both the bus and the boat. It has usually taken me about 45 mins from resort to HDDR.

Thanks Skelooch! We drive down and now I have some ammunition to try to talk my husband into driving to AK on the day we are having dinner at Boma. We'll be at the park, then leaving for our ressie, and then headed back to Pop. He'll never want to pay for a cab, and I know he won't want to spend 1 1/2 hours taking a bus back!

There usually are no taxis at the theme parks in the morning, at least until the park has been open a couple of hours. I don't know whether Mears will have the foresight to have a supply at Epcot for the runners.

You can always call one at (407) 422-2222.

What's faster?

POR to GF for breakfast? POR to EP and GF bus.... OR POR to MK and monorail to GF?

We will be arriving in May and our first full day is spending the day at MK At RD and then heading to Grand Floridian Cafe for a 6:10 ADR. The park closes at 7 that night We are staying POFQ and will have a car, what is the best way to do this. We thought about just using Disney bus for this day taking bus to MK and when we leave hoping on the monorail to GF and then monorail back to TTC to catch bus to our resort or drive to TTC and leave car there. Would love to drive to GF in morning and valet the car for the day and then just drive back from there before I get flamed we will not do that and understand why that is not allowed so looking for a better choice of what to do

A few thoughts for you....
1. It is fine to pay to valet park at any resort and then go off and do whatever you wish to...even if that is going to a park for the day. It is basically only self-parking that poses an issue for non-resort guests who want park access as well as dining while at a resort. It is not fair to take away a paying resort guests parking spot just to avoid paying a parking fee at that park...or to just want slightly closer/easier access. But if you pay to valet, you're fine.

2. The bus back to your resort is going to leave from the MK..not from the TTC. So you could park there, at the TTC, spend the day at MK, eat at the GF and then monorail back to the TTC...if you choose to drive your car. Or..you can just take the bus to the MK that morning, boat over to the GF around 5:30 for your ADR, then monorail or boat back to MK after eating and jump on the POFQ bus there. The buses will run at least 90 mins after park closing.

We're going to hop from DHS to AK on our last day. We'll be at DHS for early EMH, spend just a few hours, then hop over to AK. We normally rent a car, but prices so far are outrageously high compared to years past, so I'm almost tempted to go the ME route since we'll be at CR anyway. But this is the one hitch for me.

Now I know all the options available to me to get from one to the other: transfer resorts/TTC, etc. But what I don't have is real world knowledge on which transfers work best. For example, while it might make sense to catch the bus/boat to the BW area resorts to catch a bus to AK, I know the buses there make multiple stops at all the resorts and/or have pretty full buses. Similarly the choice between transferring to larger resorts with multiple stops vs. resorts that share buses with other resorts to DHS/AK. Using the AKL route is an option, but is it better to get off and wait for an AK bus at the DVC area or main building? Also, I know DHS and AK buses make stops at the TTC, but I haven't a clue how often those tend to run or how crowded they tend to be. In fact, I can't even remember ever noticing one. :scratchin Just where are they in the resort line-up at the parks?

So, was just wondering if anyone can give me there experience with similar transfers? Thanks!

Just take the bus from DHS to AK. There's no need to transfer.

Thank you for info. With the #2 suggestion I thought with the park closing at 7 bus would stop around 7:30 so we could go if they will go to 8:30. It's grad night at the park that night will that make a difference
