we got our cake!

it was perfect! we had some drama with actually GETTING it, but after 3 calls and one super helpful CM, we had our cake.

here's a cellphone photo, i'll post some pictures from my real camera once our trip is over.

mini cake with varying shades of aqua fondant trim (ombre) on the "1" and the layer stripes and edible glitter/sparkle on the cake (which is hard to see in that photo, but it's very pretty).

i requested smooth vanilla buttercream -or- fondant, and they gave us fondant for the outside.

inside is yellow cake with milk chocolate buttercream. very pleased! our cake was prepared by brian and cost $35 before the billion extra charges (tax, gratuity, etc)

I just emailed the CRT and they answered quickly with all their options. They do have the standard mini-cakes Lurkyloo posted -- mickey head or floral. Another option is the chocolate slipper dessert for your daughter and they also offer a chocolate crown for your son. They include pics in their email reply.
Thank you for letting me know. I'll try to find their email address unless you have it.

Ok, We'll be at Caribbean Beach around Mother's day this year and I'd like to surprise my, lovely and gracious, wife, and mother in law with a cake. Does anyone know if they can add Happy Mother's day to an 8" cake?

Also, is that something I should order ahead of time?

TIA

Yes and yes. I'd order no more than 3 weeks out and no fewer than 72 hours out. :thumbsup2

Thanks everyone for the great info! I will be surprising my daughter with the slipper dessert at our visit to the tea room at the GF in May :) just have to give myself a reminder to order it :)

Can I order it and put it on a Disney Gift Card or do I need a CC for it?

Can you get a cake delivered to a restaurant? We are eating dinner our first night at Chef Mickey's and would like to have a cake delivered there for my hubby's birthday. We are staying at BLT.. not sure if they would deliver to our room there so we could come back and see it as a surprise...or if I would be better off having it delivered at dinner @ Chef Mickeys?

We had a chocolate slipper delivered there last night. They do cakes also.

Which bakery makes the cakes that are delivered to the Wilderness Lodge restaurants?

The contemporary does Wilderness lodge. We had a great cake there Saturday night.

Since the contemporary services the WL, do you think I can get the chocolate slipper dessert delivered to our room there? We are staying CL, so maybe they can work some magic....

It seems like you should be able to. The only roadblock I can think of is transport. When we did our Disney wedding menu tasting, they had to bring twice as many chocolate slippers as we'd requested to taste in case any of them were broken in transport. However, that might just have been Disney's Fairy Tale Weddings going the extra mile...

They would not do a chocolate slipper for us at Whispering Canyon. We were told it was to difficult to transport.

So let me know if I'm crazy. I ordered a pirate cake for my son and it is costing $115 plus tax and gratuity. I ordered a mini mickey cake for my daughter and it is $35 plus tax and gratutiy. I'm just wondering if maybe I should cancel one or do something different since it costs so much. This is a surprise trip for the kids. We will be down there for my sons bday and my daughters birthday was this past Sunday so the two bdays are within a couple of weeks. Any advice? We are having dinner at CRT for his birthday dinner cause he loves to eat at the castle. I was figuring it out tonight that I'll have to pay $180 minimum including gratuity and that doesn't include the tax. Yikes. Here is the picture of the pirate cake I gave them. It is from cake chatter 2.

They quoted me $110 for it without the ship and chalice which is the cup on top. I'm just unsure what to do. Maybe get the chocolate slipper instead for her.

That seems about right bc it still has the chocolate skull and treasure chest. We paid ~65 for our pirate (Jake themed) with just the 2D characters on sticks and the fondant map etc (regular frosting on the cake itself).

I knew my sons cake would probably be expensive. I'm just wondering if I'm crazy to be getting two cakes for $180. I know my son will really love the pirate cake so I really do to want to change that but maybe do something smaller for my daughter. I'm just not sure.

Don't want to change the pirate cake. Looks like I can't type.,

Price seems about right on the pirate cake....Lot of detail on it etc. Not sure if you are asking is the cake too much or is that too much to spend on DS vs DD. I guess depends on their age and if they would notice the discrepancy in cake size etc....I saw a cute picture of a mini cake that was pirate themed....

I wish I would have gotten a better picture. My family surprised me with this cake for my birthday. Yellow cake with strawberries and cream filling, covered with ganache and the most beautiful chocolate roses. You can't see it in the picture, but the roses and chocolate curls around the base were lightly dusted in gold. This was from the GF bakery and was delicious!

I contacted IPO with my request and they said that they put in the order today, so I guess that's a GO!? I will try to remember to take a picture and let everyone know how it goes. pixiedust:
