Suggestions please!

I'm stumped. I know I want to order a special cake for my family on our first dinner but we aren't celebrating any birthdays or any real event. This is our big sigh-of-relief trip after having a particularly rough year this year. I guess you could say we're celebrating survival. :thumbsup2 So, if I were to order a special cake for my awesome family of fellows what would you suggest for a theme or style? :

i contacted cakeman brian at Caifornia Grill a few weeks ago about a 'sea themed' cake for our honeymoon trip (we got married at the beach in newport) and before we settled on a design, he suggested mickey and minnie in beach attire. Maybe something playful like that.

Is there any special "treat" I can have with our Garden Grill meal?
Can I get a dark chocolate slipper dessert at Chef Mickeys?

Ordered a monorail cake for DS's birthday - can't wait to see it! Just like to add that dealing with Brian at the Contemporary was easy, and pleasant!

The cake was a 6 inch two layer chocolate cake w/choc. mousse filling. Cake was really good. Actually better than I expected after reading some posts of the cake not being very good. Everthing on it was edible. Chef Brian was great to work with. We corresponded via email and I told him DD's favorite colors are pink and purple. Cost $55

HELP! I want to order a custom cake for my granddaughter's 3rd birthday. We are celebrating at CRT but I cannot for the life of me get anyone to take an order for a cake:confused3. They all simply transfer me back to CRT, who only insist that I can only order a slipper???

Can anyone tell me the best way to do this....PLEASE?

I believe you can call the Contemporary Private dining line and talk to them about delivering a custom cake to CRT. I know the CRT doesn't do custom cakes, you have to get it from either the CR or GF. I believe most have gotten them from CR. Try there! They are super nice! :thumbsup2

Tried calling both Contempary and GF and just ended up getting transferred back to CRT and getting the same 'ol "we have a slipper":headache:.

Does anyone have a name and phone number or email that will get me where I need to be????

I know this is likely something I am not doing correctly so any help or suggestions on how to make this happen would be MOST appreciated. We are scheduled at CRT on Saturday Oct 23!!!

Call Contemporary Private Dining at 407 824 2955 and ask for the custom cake email address!

I just want to say that I think Brian is awesome for coming into this thread to help us out! :worship: Brian, I'll definitely be getting in touch with you before my trip next August! :thumbsup2

Oops! I just saw that you aren't supposed to post the email address, so I just edited my post to delete it. So sorry!

what restaurants does brina service and how do you get in touch with him?

I was looking through pics last night. When DD was 4 (she'll be 8 on Halloween) we had her bday dinner at Coral Reef = the cake was round with white icing and a large strawberry on top with princesses aroun d the sides - it was brought out on a large regtangular platter with Happy Birthday Samantha written on and they had cut strawberries and put mickey ears in chcolate on them.
We were also lucky enough to get the diver and special message in the tank.

She wants her bday dinner there this year, I told her no more diver, but kind of wanted a better cake.

Brian works out of the Contemporary, so Epcot is out.

Just wanted to take a moment to echo the "thanks" to Brian for coming to the aide of those in this thread, especially me:rotfl:

One call today and I had the email address I needed to send my request off. YEA!!! Yesterday I made 6 calls and never got anywhere.

I look forward to a response on my email and seeing the final creation!

THANK YOU again for your assistance!

I've been following this thread for so long...a lot of information!! Finally called yesterday to get a cake for our 15th anniversary! We are having dinner at Ohana. I spoke with Pat at GF. I told her I wanted a small fondant covered anniversary cake. She told me I could choose a 6 ($80) or 8 inch ($100) with white fondant, flowers and draping with either gold or silver accents. She will write 15 magical years on a white chocolate piece at the base of the cake. I chose 6 inch. I asked about adding white chocolate mickey and minnie. She told me she had a disc I could add....told her I would really like the standing figures.....$15 extra. Chocolate cake with dark chocolate mousse filling. Total will be $95 plus tax/gratuity. She did not mention a delivery charge and I did ask for a total. Does anyone know if there is one to go to Polynesian?
I'm a little nervous because our call was under 10 minutes....everyone seems to have emails and more than one phone call to get what they want.:) From what I have read here, the results can be hit or miss. I'll keep my fingers crossed. Pat was really nice though, when I mentioned our three kids would love the cake, she suggested telling the hostess to have the cake on the table as a centerpiece so we could enjoy looking at it while we had dinner.:)

I want to order a cake for my DBIL and BSIL's 5th anniversary, which they will be celebrating tomorrow night with dinner at Le Cellier. I honestly didn't think of it earlier but they have been texting and calling every 10 mins with updates and I am sooooo thrilled they are having such a great time on their first trip, I wanted to do something special.

Obviously, I am within 48 hours already, so I can't get a customized, but I called Theresa at the Epcot cake hotline and I'm waiting for her to call me back. I read about the "celebrate today" cakes that you can order at your restaurant the day of but I'm wondering if I can order THAT cake in advance. Anyone have any luck with short notice ordering or the "celebrate today" cakes? I'm too impatient to wait for Theresa to call me back to find out if I'm going to be able to do this!!

Thanks!

Just want to add...I was able to order the Celebrate Today cake for my DBIL and DSIL! They can't write anything on it :confused3 but the server will say "Happy 5th Anniversary, Love Nikki and Thom."

I'm happy with that! Hope they will be surprised!

I'm currently working with Brian at the CR to create a beautiful princess cake to be delivered to CRT!! He's been SO helpful so far and I can't wait to see what the cake is going to look like! Our lunch is next Wednesday so I'll post photos of the cake next week.
