So, I called AKL private dining for our Sanaa reservation. Was told that I only had two choices. 6-inch, non-customizable cake or the larger customizable (way too big for a party of three) cake.

Should I try the Boardwalk Bakery and just bring it with us? I can bring one with us, correct?

Yes, you can bring a cake with you. You just won't be able to store it in their fridge.

Can I ask how you ordered this? Did you call private dining at AKL?

Yes, all cake orders for AKL go through Private Dining. The Zebra Cake is one of their standard offerings.

Thanks...situation resolved. The first person I spoke to yesterday wasn't terribly helpful. Perhaps I misinterpreted her, but the person I spoke with today was much more helpful and forthcoming with information.

Ultimately, I got something ordered through AKL private dining...now just keeping the fingers crossed that the wife likes it!

Only a few weeks left. All cakes have been ordered - we are all excited to see what It's Tasty Too comes up with this year! And I am also excited to see how the Minnie Mouse cake turns out for the birthday celebration at 1900 Park Fare. Will post pics when we get back!

I've been searching all 4 cake threads looking for a pic of the Rapunzel Tower cake that's about $150 now. I did find one pic from 4 years ago but I was hoping to find something more recent to see if it's changed. I had no luck. Kept coming up with threads with people talking about it or asking about it, but no pics. Has anyone seen one recently?
I have no idea where it is in this thread but somewhere in here is a rapunzel tower cake that I had it's tasty too do and it was wonderful and she only charged me $35! It would have been posted about 1 year ago, if that helps.

Edit: just found it on page 82!

image.jpeg My cake to celebrate no more chemo! I worked with George from the Contemporary Bakery to finalize the design I had in mind. The cake (white with choc/fresh raspberries filling and vanilla buttercream under the fondant) was delivered to our dinner at the California Grill. Total cost $135.00. Such amazing details...the flowers even had little etched steams and the lanterns had little lights to make them glow. Such an incredible night...great dinner with my awesome husband, one of my sisters, and my soon to be sister in law, awesome cake, many wishes and messages from the staff of the CG, a nice surprise from the California Grill and the Contemporary Resort...and best of all... no more chemo!

Beautiful! And congratulations!!!!

Thought you guys would get a kick out of this: I got permission to post these pics from a recent Walt Disney World wedding where the bride chose to have the Grand Floridian pastry team make multiple 8-inch cakes, each themed to a different Disney princess, instead of a traditional wedding cake. See if you can guess them! :teeth:

These are beautiful!!!

I am wanting a yellow cake - not vanilla/white/marble, but actual yellow cake. Is GF Bakery the only one who will offer that? And what restaurants will they deliver it to? I'm hoping to have it delivered to a birthday dinner that night (restaurant to be determined).

None of the Disney pastry teams offer yellow cake, not even the Grand Floridian. This has come up before with guests making requests, but unfortunately it's just not a recipe they use.

If it's super-important, I'd use an outside vendor that delivers, like It's Tasty Too or Party Flavors.

I have somewhat of a difficult question :confused3

I've had a trip planned with my parents before my and my fiancé were actually engaged & had a wedding date set. We will be in Disney on my then husband's birthday & it will also be his 1st trip to Disney. I want to get him some type of welcome to Disney & birthday cake- but he isn't really a Disney fan since he's never been before. I'm not sure what type of cake to get him with him not being a big Disney fan. Any ideas? I want it to be somewhat basic (inexpensive) since our wedding will be 3 weeks beforehand & obviously our budget will be wiped out then! :rotfl2:

I also want to combine a marriage celebration too but I figured since I can't eat gluten, I'd get him a glutened- filled welcome to Disney/ birthday cake then get our marriage cake gluten free so I can eat some.

We are staying at BWV. Would it be best to order from BW Bakery or order outside of Disney? Any suggestions for design are welcome!!

Thanks!

Easiest to order from BoardWalk Inn. You could get him the classic Mickey Head cake for $54. It serves like 15 people, but it sure says, "Welcome to Disney"! And then he can have leftovers for breakfast (also classic Disney).

The cake is beautiful! And more importantly, congratulations on being done with chemo!!

You know what, I take that back... I just saw on the newest Disney's Fairy Tale Weddings Escape Collection planning kit that they're offering "yellow cake" as one of the flavors. Now this could be a typo, because a lot of people use the term interchangeably with vanilla cake, but it could also be that enough people requested it that they are now offering it. And Escape cakes can be made by BoardWalk Bakery or the Grand Floridian, so at least those two places may be able to help you!

Me again! (It's been a little while, hah!)

I have two trips planned this year... but I haven't done anything in WDW since 2014, and just want to make sure I'm on the right page before I start making calls or emailing around.

Q1: I'm surprising a friend (telling her tomorrow!) with a 4-day stay at WDW this September. For one night, I want to surprise her with a small birthday cake, but she's an avid Winnie the Pooh fan. I know there's some licensing hiccups there, so I thought about bringing my own Pooh figures to put on the cake. Can I have a small cake made to look like a Hundred-Acre Wood backdrop?

Q2: For my own trip in October, do I still have enough time to call and have a chocolate slipper made for an ADR at CRT? Can it be done for breakfast, or does it have to be for dinner/lunch only?

It depends on where you're having the cake delivered, but if it's serviced by a Deluxe Resort bakery, I'm sure they could do it. I'd send them inspiration pics though.

One idea—I got the Contemporary to make me a cake that looks like the birthday cake Winnie the Pooh gets at the end of the ride, complete with pink-tinted cake!

You can get those at any meal, and you can order them up to 72 hours before your trip.

I got my husband a dirtbike themed cake from Its Tasty Too for his birthday last year. It was huge and sooo much cake but I managed to find a model of his personal race bike to put on top of it. It was around $85, $35 of which was the delivery fee to pop century.

I'm debating doing something similar for his 30th this year but it was so much cake we threw half away. I think I might get a mini cake from publix and call it good.

Help Needed!

I am getting married in a Memories Collection wedding on a Friday. Since no reception is included, we are actually going to do a nice dinner with cake the night before at Yachtsman Steakhouse.

Is it better to have YC do the cake or to order from the Boardwalk Bakery? I will want it to look somewhat wedding-ish.

Also, my daughter is allergic to tree nuts. Does anyone have success with a custom allergen free cake?

Thanks!

Yacht & Beach Club has its own pastry team so BoardWalk Bakery will not deliver there. They turn out just as (if not more) elaborate cakes, so you're in good hands. I'd call ASAP though - they need 72 hours' notice, and sometimes it takes a while to hear back from the pastry chef.

If you tell them you want allergen-free they will make you order from Erin McKenna's Bakery at Disney Springs.

Congrats! So thankful you are healthy and healed! What a beautiful cake, and the best reason to celebrate!
