Starting to get frustrated. I received a custom cake quote from Chef Brian on Saturday. I called and left a message at the cake line number (407-824-2955) on Sunday. No one has called me back. I have called three times since and keep getting the same automated recording. I just called again and left a second message. Is this normal? Is there ever a time you can call and actually reach a live person? I need the cake for April 30 so I'm starting to panic.

You still have plenty of time. I'm not sure I've ever reached a real person via the Contemporary's Cake Hotline. If you're really antsy, call the Contemporary's main number and ask for Private Dining. Tell them you are placing an order for a cake that you worked out with Chef Brian and give them all the details. Then call back a day or two before your date to reconfirm everything.

I left my message on Monday and they called me back today (also for the 30th but our plans changed and I told her we didn't need the cake now so there's a spot open for you now! )

Don't panic, you still have plenty of time. As for the number, no I've never called and had a person answer. I've always left a message. But most of my actual quotes and cake orders have been via email with pretty quick response times of a day or two.

I just talked to Pat about ordering a gluten free birthday cake and she was lovely. I gave her a $100 budget and said either Haunted Mansion or Evil Queen theme and told her to just have fun with it. I'm super excited to see what she can come up with.

No, she wanted to eat at Sanaa for her birthday so this is the on property meal that day.

What do you think my best option for s Minnie theme cake is? I may call on Monday too.

Are all the Mickey/Minnie head cakes being made like this now with piping or is it just GF bakery?

I can't answer that for sure, but I spoke with Pat at the GF bakery this week and described the cake by saying that it was similar to the one on the celebration website, except that it was made with a star tip. She responded by saying, "Oh, yes, that is ours!" She quoted me $54. Sadly, that afternoon, my daughter announced that she doesn't like Minnie Mouse. (What??? I must be doing something wrong!) so I guess I'm back to the drawing board.

So, I called AKL private dining for our Sanaa reservation. Was told that I only had two choices. 6-inch, non-customizable cake or the larger customizable (way too big for a party of three) cake.

Should I try the Boardwalk Bakery and just bring it with us? I can bring one with us, correct?

I was very excited about it because I thought it was so cute and the price was right ($54). I am thinking princess, but am coming up blank and have spent time looking through pictures but haven't found anything I really like yet. Does anyone have suggestions? Pictures would be great. There will be five of us, so my preference is a smaller cake. We'll be using the Grand Floridian Bakery.

I think I would call the GF bakery and tell them your price range and what you're thinking and they can likely come up with something!
