OK, I've got another fabulous cake from Chef Brian & Co. at the Contemporary for you! My husband is a huge Muppets fan, and Fozzie Bear is his favorite. I inquired about doing a cake with Fozzie's face on it, kinda like
this Animal cake, but they are only allowed to do screen prints of the characters, and the only image they are authorized to use that has Fozzie in it is a group shot. So instead I asked for an "interpretive" version of Fozzie covered in his fur, wrapped in his polka dot tie and topped with his pork pie hat. I was a little worried when the Private Dining cast member who took my order kept referring to "Ozzie Bear" (who doesn't know the Muppets???), but all the details were in my emails to Chef Brian. I didn't send any inspiration photos besides this nice shot of the Fozzie puppet and a pic of a cake with a fondant hat on it. Price: $106 Size: 8-inch Date Received: 9/26/14 Location: California Grill Flavors: Chocolate cake with a filling of layered chocolate ganache and peanut butter buttercream frosting (NOT mousse). I was trying to replicate the taste of BoardWalk Bakery's late, lamented chocolate-peanut butter cake slice, and it worked! The cake turned out EXACTLY as I'd pictured it, with amazingly accurate buttercream fur in exactly the right shade. The moment he spotted it, my husband exclaimed, "Fozzie!" and his face lit up like a kid's. Priceless! Even better, this cake tasted fantastic! I have officially found my all-time favorite Disney cake flavor combo. The fudgey chocolate ganache made all the difference, and the buttercream "fur" all over the cake didn't hurt!
