Official Dancing With the Stars, season 16 thread

I keep thinking Jacoby didn't need a pre-nup, (if he had one.) All he had to say to his wife was, "If you cross me, you will be dealing with my Mama." :rotfl:

She seems like the type of MIL that posters complain about. I can imagine the post title "MIL think her baby is always right and I should give in. How do I handle it?"

Please keep updating the results. I am away from my TV.

Kelli & Derek :cool1:   :woohoo: :woohoo: :yay: :dance3:

Awesome!!! She deserved it. Not that I didn't love Zendaya but like some other posters said, she is a trained dancer.

I'm okay with Kellie winning as she was so good, but I am disappointed. I was really hoping it would be Zendaya. I'm kinda bummed :(. I thought Zendaya's instant dance kicked Kellie's butt.

I am so happy for Kellie! I am very proud of Jacoby for making it as far as he did and I loved it when he lifted Kellie up. I hope to see many touchdown dances from him next season on the football field for my Ravens.

Why didn't all the stars dance tonight?

I wonder that too. I think most of them were in the opening number.

I feel the same way. Zendaya looked sad when Brooke asked her inane questions, I would have thought Brooke would be better at this by now. I think this will help Kellie's career, Zendaya is a Disney star so it shouldn't matter either way.

I don't get the hate for stars who have some dance experience. I could understand if they were ballroom champions but no one from any season had that kind of experience. Zendaya might have done hip hop but she still had to work her butt off to achieve what she did. There was another star with hip hop, forget his name, and he had a hard time doing the other dances. So I think Zendaya deserved the win just as much as Kellie.

30, 30, 30.......... So the instant dance didn't change anything! :rotfl:

Either Kellie or Zendaya and I will be happy.

I love watching Good Morning America the day after. The 3 couples (will it be 4 this time?) and Tom fly to NYC overnight. This is one of the times I will really miss living in NYC! ::yes::

The judges never change the ranking of the dancers on the last dance. I wish they would stop making them dance on the last show. They worked hard on those 3 dances last night they should have gotten to go home and rest, they earned it.

It's usually the only time I watch GMA. I don't think that Tom always goes, no mention of Brooke going. My on screen guide says all 4 will be there tomorrow.

Does anyone know if Zendaya had a foot injury? I've noticed her dancing in flat shoes the last several weeks. When they first showed them practicing the instant dance she had heels on but by the time Brooke talked to them she was wearing those ugly pink shoes, which she wore for her dance.

According to Kellie, she was a cheerleader and took dance classes when she was in High School. That would be ... when she was Zendaya's age. So, I think it's disingenuous to say that Kellie was a blank slate. It's pretty obvious that she wasn't.

When asked if she had any dance experience before signing up for Season 16, Kellie said she cheered in high school and took some dances classes back then, but she had never done ballroom dance before.

I was thinking of going when Tony won. I live only several blocks away. I would have loved to have cheered him on. :woohoo: But, in order to get a good spot up front to see anything, you have to get to the show by 6:15. 6:30 at the latest. Then be able to stand there till around 8:30, as they are usually in the second hour. You can't go away for bathroom breaks as someone behind you immediately fills into your spot. :crowded::crowded: That means I'd have to get up at 5am, just to chug enough coffee and look presentable. And when I've had too much coffee, I need to pee. So it would have been a bad combo.

I've never known Tom to go very much. They usually televise him from L.A. via satellite. :scratchin

They changed the ranking the time Bristol danced. Tom had a huge poster, pointing out how much the judges scores were worth to the final results. IIRC, she got 8s to the other two couples getting 9s & 10s.

:rotfl: You make a good point!!! :rotfl2:

Kellie and Zendaya both had a leg up with dance experience. Zendaya just had a slightly bigger one since she has been dancing consistently for years (she was part of a dance troupe for a few years, was a backup dancer in a video, gets paid to dance in every episode of Shake It Up). Her brain is still in "learn combos quickly so you can focus on showmanship" mode, where Kellie seemed to need a little longer to get back in the swing of learning dances.

I can tell you from experience that once you get your brain trained to remember the order of steps quickly it makes it much easier to be a great dancer because you can then focus on perfecting technique and showmanship instead of just trying to remember what comes next.

I was bummed that Aly and Mark finished behind Jacoby and Karina because I think she really was better than he was.

My favorite dance from last night was definitely Dorothy Hamill and Kristi Yamaguchi. So sweet! I was a little bummed that all the celebs didn't get to do a little solo dance again with their partners though. I could have skipped the Psy performance to see Ingo one more time!

I am happy for Kellie and think she really did earn it, but I was a little bummed Zendaya didn't win. I can't complain about the results. Kellie was great.

I have seen some grumbling about the ABC online voting being down and if that was fair or not and I suspect it may have made a difference (I think Val has a pretty big online voting contingent) but in the end, I don't think it is a huge travesty. If Jacoby had pulled off a win over Kellie and Zendaya, I would have definitely called foul, but I can't complain about Kellie pulling it out!

I don't know if any of you read the EW recaps but the woman who does them is really funny and yesterday said she wished that they would make a rule change and give the mirror ball to Kellie and Val. :rotfl: It made me laugh but I totally got what she was saying. I was never a Val fan (even though I love Maks. Val always seemed a bit ick to me. Must have been all that absurd soap opera cuddling with Kelly last season) but he really, really grew on me this year. I think having a young partner made him step up his game and show that he was actually a great choreographer and didn't always have to rely on being overly sexy in his dances.

I can't believe I didn't remember to check in here until now. Based on discussions from past seasons I'm guessing there are plenty of anti-Derek folks around though. I haven't always loved his attitude, although I think he's toned that down over the years, but I've always been a fan of his ability to choreograph and showcase the strengths of his partners. He's sooo good at that! (and he knows it - LOL)

I think Zendaya & Val had the edge going into the finals, but the freestyle won it for Kellie & Derek. That dance moved me to vote, and for the first time all season.

Yes, ABC changed their online voting and there was a bug that required you to login with your Facebook account to vote. The DWTS boards were all a-buzz with the "Zendaya Fix" because apparently only kids who watch the Disney channel have FB accounts. The bug did stop me from voting for Z 5 more times because I wouldn't allow ABC access to my FB account.

They gave her lower scores but they didn't change the ranking, she was third going into the results show and she was third after they danced.

The judges have not always given the freestyles good scores but it seems like they try not to insult a star who has made it to the finals, other then Marie Osmond, who they didn't like and IMHO they didn't think she belonged in the finals but for some reason they were always kind to Bristol.

As I said before I see no reason for the stars to be judged on the final results show. I was also a little disappointed in how little time they left for celebrating after they announced the winner. I thought Tony and Melissa had much more time.
