I liked it too! I really liked the politian and had hoped he would be a reoccurring character.

While I really enjoyed "At Close Range", I don't seem to have lots to say. I will say that I loved their use of flashbacks, and I also enjoyed the way we saw things though different characters' eyes. And I was totally surprised by the killer, too. (I thought it was the wife).
Loved:
Kate waking up to an empty bed (loved the new bedding, by the way) and what she found when she went to the hotel. Loved Ryan's "when you have a crazy theory, you don't call the voice of reason", and his & Castle's fist bump. then I loved the scene when they explained their findings to Gates and how Kate supported her guys.
the scene with the four of them coming back from the compstat meeting. Castle's posture in the elevator, to the guys' big grins, Castle's reaction when he realized they lied, Kate's smile when she realized they lied to Rick. Then the conversation about who Ryan was guarding that night - loved the "One Direction" talk, and the fact that Javi knew where they were.
Loved the talk about conspiracies, Rick mentioning he's theorized about them "occasionally", and Kate's reaction to that.
I'm a big Kevin Ryan fan so I loved seeing him be the center of the episode. Seamus Dever was awesome as usual. The scene when he realized the guy dropping off the press pass was his BIL and then the scene between them when Kev pulled out his gun just blew me away.
A few interesting things:
the scene when Kate & Rick run into the state party chairman, and him knowing who she is & remarking that she is known "in his world". Of course, she did arrest a US Senator on national TV, as he was about to announce he was running for president, so that would get you known.
Kate's opinion of politics and politicians.
The scene with Kate going thru the victim's purse.
Kate with the study materials for the captain's exam. Yes, I know that in the real world, there are more steps between detective and captain, but as has been pointed out many times, this is the TV world. And Nikki Heat is about to become a captain, so maybe so will Kate Beckett.
All in all, a really good episode. Another new one next week, then at least one repeat after that. I believe that they are working on the next to last season 7 episode right now. That is also episode 150!
Loved:

My thoughts on "Habeas Corpse" - I loved it! I wasn't expecting much from it, but it ended up being so much fun, so sweet and so very good. I will say the murder didn't hold my attention much, but I was glad that the victim was a good guy, and that maybe his death wasn't in vain.
But oh, so much to love in that episode anyway!
I loved:
the opening scene with Kate & Alexis - Kate getting excited when Alexis knew the answers, Alexis' kiss & thanks to Kate, Rick & Kate's discussion of her past desire to be the first female Chief Justice, loved the discussion of her qualifications, then the "10 minutes in my chambers & we're going to need a continuance" "objection" "overruled"
everyone trying to get Ryan & Espo to tell them what they're doing in the talent competition
All of them (except Ryan) reciting the Pitbull's commercial. Loved Espo adding the Spanish
Kate trash talking
Gates' face as she asks Castle to step in for Kimmel, Rick's face as he waits for her to ask him to step in
The wagers between the guys - just like "The Double Down"
Rick discussing their chemistry with Espo
Kate walking into the wall - an ad lib by Stana Katic
"Routine? That's 2 naked people singing where no-one can see or hear them"
The discussion between Rick & Kate about the talent show as she's digging
Them getting out of the zip ties - I guess Rick getting his PI license came in handy
Watching the guys practice their routine was too funny
Loved, loved, loved the scene of Rick & Kate dancing - and the scene between Martha & Kate was awesome! Martha may not be her mother, may not be anything like a traditional mother, but she is certainly mother-like for Kate. Great scene - loved how Kate doesn't want to disappoint Rick.
Loved the scene at the end when the guys announce they are now 3 time champs - love Espo's lite up shoes & his PW hat
Then the scene when Kate realizes what Rick did - "Kimmel's your bud" - loved her voice when she told him she didn't want him to think less of her - then his face said "that could never happen" - then the "aren't you sorry that you're not going to perform for an audience" "the only audience I care about is you" - then the kiss in the elevator
And of course, the singing in the shower! Much has been made of the fact that it obviously wasn't Nathan and Stana in the "shower", but that's really kind of normal. Often, if you're not seeing the actor's face, it's some kind of double - hanging up phones, putting rings on fingers at weddings, etc. etc. But it was Nathan and Stana signing.
So a fun episode with lots of great moments. They are repeating the honeymoon episode next week, and then "Last Action Hero" the week after that. The next new episode will be airing on April 20th, and they will be dealing with the reasons Rick went missing......
But oh, so much to love in that episode anyway!
