Here are some pics of the mad hatter cake we had at Chef Mickey's for my son's 20th birthday. The only request I made was that it incorporated music, guitar and soccer which are the things my son love. He LOVED it!!! We had this 9/26/09 and the cost was $135. It was worth every penny!

I just got off the phone with Pat from GF. I'll be at Citricos Nov 15th and I wanted a nice b-day cake.. ok.. for me!LOL Pat was very nice and helpful. I had said I wanted something bright and cheerful. We chatted a bit and came up with a Nemo cake.
It will be an 8 inch white cake with custard and Strawberries for filling. The outside will be white chocolate ganache. The top of the cake will be a blue swirled fondant. There will be sand/coral etc. Nemo, other sea things of course, and white chocolate shavings around the side of the cake. This will be around $83.00 to be paid at dinner.
I'm just thrilled. I told her to tell the cake decorators to use their imagination. I will for sure post some pics when I return. (am going Nov 10-19).
Pat did stress that she takes the orders but has no control of how they come out. She said she has seen some cakes that she didn't care for, but in her position she is powerless to get changes from the cake decorators if that's the way they want to make the cake. (sounds political in the kitchen).
Anyway I remain hopeful that this cake will be a kick. We were both laughing on the phone over the cake.
She also asked that I call her after I receive the cake to let her know if we liked it.:)
I'm excited. WDW here we come!:dance3:

I'm so confused. When I called this weekend at the GF, they told me that I couldn't customize an 8" cake and had to get a 10". It wasn't even a super fancy flavored cake either, just plain chocolate with buttercream filling/frosting. :confused3

I got off the phone with Pat at the GF and she was able to customize a cake for me no problem. I went with a 6 inch chocolate cake with bavarian cream and fresh raspberry filling. I want blue fondant with stamped mickey heads. I told her to theme Penn State. $70. I'd have them transfer you to Pat when you call. You should call the cake hotline number (you can find it on the first page of the thread. When you finally get a human ask them to transfer you to Pat.

Does any one know if I can have a cake brought to my room at SSR ? I know they have a pretty nice resturant there but I have no idea if they do cakes or not ? I just wanted to get the piped Mickey Head cake one day and then maybe a special Tink Cake .TIA

The only place I have heard of anyone getting a custom cake in MK is CRT, and even then it seems to depend on who you speak to and on what day. I think the only option at Tony's is a premade celebration cake.

I'm making my list of snacks I want to try and where they are located. My
DD4 loved the photo she saw of the Mickey cake. Can anyone remind me where you can find it?

Does the Boardwalk bakery supply the custom cakes for Epcot? Do they do the same type of custom cakes like the GF does? I'm thinking about next year for my dad's bday. We may not all be going to Narcoossee's. I'm thinking about a mad hatter style cake.

The Mini-Mickey head? I've seen it posted from the Boardwalk Bakery - not sure where else. You can get it for a snack credit. :thumbsup2

Called to order an 8th Birthday Cake for my son. Dec 14th at the Mama Melrose for Dinner (Fantasmic Pkg- YES!;)) and dealt with Bernadette. She was super helpful on the phone. Hope the cake turns out just as good.:thumbsup2

From my itinerary---- called 407-560-3551 and spoke with Bernadette Alderman- Disney's Hollywood Studios™ F&B Admin Support - “I just spoke with one of the Bakery Chefs. They can use an 8 inch van. and a 10 inch van. cake to make a Mad Hatter cake. They would use fondant frosting for this cake. The price is $75.00 plus tax. Will be a fresh made cake. Requested Primary Colors with “Have a Mad Mad Birthday Jimmy!” inscription.

I took your advice and called back today and asked to speak with Pat. She was unavailable but her voicemail offered another # to her direct line. I left a message and she called me this evening. I'm so glad I spoke with her because the other 2 CM's I previously spoke with had quoted me incorrect prices. And you CAN customize a 6" or an 8" cake. I was originally told that I couldn't. Anyway, Pat was extremely helpful and friendly. I ordered an 8" chocolate cake with vanilla buttercream and pink fondant. On top will be a tinker bell white chocolate statue on a dome of sugar flowers. Also, a chocolate scroll that says Happy 10Th Birthday. All of that will cost $100 and will be added onto our dining bill at 1900 PF. Whew, now I can relax! Thanks so much for your advice! :goodvibes:thumbsup2

Here's a few pictures of the monorail themed cake I ordered for DH at the Contemporary last month. It was a ten inch (it was the only size private dining would customize) with marble cake and buttercream. I did ask for the layer of fondant as I thought it would give it a smoother look. All the people I dealt with were very nice and really willing to help. I also gave them free reign and just asked that it be monorailed themed.

The cake was $70.00, and since it was delivered to our room at the Contempory, a delivery fee and gratuity were added. Total was 90.35

Cake was tasty - just a whole lot for two people for just a couple of days! :rotfl:

I've got other cakes that I need to get uploaded from the GF.

Yes, the mini mickey head cakes you can find at the BW Bakery. However, the full size cakes are mostly found at the Contemporary (Chef Mickeys) and the Polynesian (OHana). You can probably get it at the GF as well. I got mine at Chef Mickeys. It was $48.00 plus gratuity. Hope that helps!:goodvibes

Does anybody have information on the miniature wedding cakes? DBF saw these recently on TV, and thinks they are amazing. I'd like to have one delivered to my birthday dinner at Chefs de France, is that possible? Also, does anybody know the pricing for these little cakes? TIA! :goodvibes

Let me start off by saying sorry if some of my questions seem scattered but I am trying to weigh our options for our upcoming trip. We want to get a birthday cake for my DD and DNiece but also want to make a fuss for my Mom who is retiring before we go. I also don't want to get 2 full sized cakes on back to back days etc. Here goes-

Can the slipper be delivered to Olivia's or to our resort room at OKW?

Do they have Winnie the Pooh and friends decorations for customized cakes?

The Mickey Head Cakes- can they be delivered to our resort?

The mini mickey head cakes- are they readily available at Chef Mickey's or would they need to be ordered too?

Thanks so much for your help-
Dee

We are at WDW now! My dd's 9th birthday was Tuesday and it was magical. We got our cake at Chef Mickey's and I have to say first that CHEF BRIAN ROCKS!!! The cake was everything and more that I hoped it would be.

I also want to say that yes, it is just a cake, BUT, my dd had some problems on her bday with all the attention and actually wanted to take her bday button OFF b/c it was too much for her. She's very shy and does not like to be the center of attention. The cake really MADE her bday b/c we asked that they not sing and just bring it out and it was so special and magical without everyone focusing on her (you couldn't with this gorgeous cake! LOL)

Here are the details:
Chef Mickey's at Contemporary. Called the cake hotline, followed the prompts for Contemporary, talked with Sally to order. We ordered a 10 inch marble cake with bavarian creme filling, chocolate gnache icing, and a Halloween theme, it's my dd's favorite holiday and so close to her bday too! The cake was 110$ and worth every penny.

We did have some issues with waiting for the cake to come out and waiting for them to find a box BIG enough for it! but that had to do with CM service, not the cake itself.
Here are the pics!!!

Thank you so much for posting this ~ I've been dying to see one of the monorail cakes!!! I think this is what I'm going to order for our boys when we're there in Dec. Beautiful cake :)
