I was asked for a credit card number for my $55 (estimated) candy order. I was also told it would be charged that day. I wonder if it is only charged if I was a no show.

I stayed on the phone 3 hours and 40 minutes to order my cake and I found out different places different rules. Disney is fragmented and each area has it's own rules.

HI,
I'll be Boma's Nov 11 for my b-day. I have not read alot on here about cakes at AKL. How is their bakery? Can I have a custom cake made at AKL for dessert at Boma's?
Thanks,
Liz

I called up the cake hotline today and asked about a custom cake for a special dinner at Jiko's. The can do simple custom cakes, she kept talking about having an edible picture on it, which isnt what I wanted, especially for the price they were asking. Give them a call and find out if they can do what you want.

I ended up called the Boardwalk Bakery and Im going to go pick up a mini wedding cake all halloweened out for me and my boyfriend. No way will it be known it is a "mini wedding cake" though, he would have a heart attack. :rotfl2:

I stayed on the phone 3 hours and 40 minutes to get a custom cake made. I was first told that I had to order my own cake and go and pick it up. I got mad I'm staying on Disney property and using Disney transpertation I will not go and get a cake and bring it to my party.

I called everyone but Mickey and my cake is being made and will be at the restaurant waiting on me, or that is what I am told.

Ok. So my theory that they only required a credit card for orders over $71 is shot out of the water! Ordering from the Disney bakeries continues to be completely random. All depends on the day and who you ask.

I have a question that I hope someone can help me with. I have ordered a cake that has fondant I assumed that it comes with buttercream underneath . Is that true or do I need to request the buttercream underneath?

Yes, fondant cakes are iced in buttercream first the refrgerated until it gets cold and then it's enrobeb in fondant.

Just thought I'd share my cake ordering experience with CR Bakery this past Sunday. I currently have bronchitis and can't talk without having a coughing spasm:sick:, so I will be calling soon...hopefully!

This is what I sent....

Hello!

I would like to order a custom Jack Skellington/Nightmare Before Christmas cake for my daughter’s birthday. I would like it for 11/21 @ our dinner at the Wave at 7pm. I would like for it to look similar to the picture attached, just replace the haunted mansion wallpaper with something indicative of The Nightmare Before Christmas and replace the gold picture frame on top with Jack Skellington as the focal piece/topper as the one in the attached Jack cake photo(disneyaugust2009225.jpg). Please use black and purple as the main colors and include miniatures of the dog Zero, Lock, Shock, and Barrel, and Oogie Boogie on the top and sides of the cake as well, in place of the skulls around the border in the photos. A few pumpkins would be nice as well. PLEASE NO CHOCOLATE RIBBON on the cake. I would like a small graveyard in area of the ribbon in the picture (it does NOT have to be 3D, it can be flat to the cake).

I would like an 8” inch marble cake frosted with vanilla butter cream tinted to match the theme of the cake. I would like the strawberry and custard filling. I would like “Happy 15th Birthday Alexandra” written on the serving circle in Black icing. Please use a SILVER cake circle to put the cake on.

Please contact me via email or at xxx-xxx-xxxx with pricing, confirmation, and any questions.

Thank you for your time!

I sent 3 pics along with the email (thanks to DISers on the Cake Gallery thread):thumbsup2

And this is what I received back not 10 mins later...

We would be happy to make you a cake with all of your request. The cost of the cake would be $100, Please contact contemporary Private Dining at 407-824-2955 to place your cake order. Have a Magical Day!

Ok so it seems like people wanting 8" cakes are being accomodated a lot lately. This is good new for me.

Please tell me if I am crazy to order a custom cake for just two of us. My little sister and I love cake so I was thinking of ordering one to be picked up from the BW Bakery on our first night and then snacking on it for the next 9 days. Any thoughts??

I just really want to surprise her with a crazy cool cake like I have seen on here.

WoW! mine did NOT go that easy, as I stated before 3hours and 40 min. to order a cake.

I tried to order a cake from Artist Point, and yes, I wanted a special order cake. Nothing too outrageous, just a beach theme. I asked if I could get a custom cake. "Yes". I then asked if I could get a beach theme. I was told the custom cakes are Mickey Heads. I said I didn't want a Mickey head, and I was told that they "might be able to find" a flat Nemo disk to put on top, but that they would need a week to arrange it. Are you kidding me??? How is that a custom cake? There was no budging her. Needless to say, I did not order the cake at Artist Point. We are staying at the Dolphin and I called their room service. The people there were fantastic. They took down my request and literally said "I will call you back in 5 minutes after I speak with the pastry chef." Less than 5 mintues later I had a quote and a confirmation that it could be made. They were even asking if I had a photo of what I had in mind, just to be sure I was happy with the cake. No hassles at all. I can't wait to see the cake, and I will certainly post pictures when we get back.

It really does depend on who you speak to, and even then, there's no guarantee on what you're going to get until you receive it. You just need to keep on it. If you don't like what you hear the first time, you need to keep calling until you talk to someone who will understand what you're asking.

I am hoping to book an illuminations cruise for our "Welcoming Home our Soldiers" trip in January. We will also be celebrating my DD's birthday. Has anyone every asked for a "Mater" cake? My daughter loves Mater. If that is not available, I am thinking of getting her a Mad Hatter type of cake. We will be a party of 9.

When we did our DFTW vow renewal after DH's last deployment, we picked chocolate cake with peanut butter mousse for our cake. I am hoping to get that again as it was fantastic!!!

Did you have to be in the room to receive the cake or would they leave it there for you? I'd do it this way if they'll deliver it when we are on the tour, maybe with some balloons or something, so that when we get into the room it's a surprise waiting for my family as a special welcome.:goodvibes
I'm trying for an element of surprise for my cousins with the cake. I'm thinking if it's not going to work at AKV, I'm going to have it at dinner at Yachtsman :confused3:confused3 But ultimately I really do want it at AKV.
;)

I was specifically asked, "if you're not in the room, do we have your permission to leave the cake." I said yes. The cake is to be delivered next Sunday so here's hoping that everything goes well. :cool1: I am also charging the cake to the room so they don't need my signature if I'm not there.

I emailed my request along with a picture to Brian at the CR yesterday for a Madhatter cake. He got back to me this morning with a price and told me I could call and order. My cake is all ordered for my sister's Birthday when we arrive in February!!!! The lady who answered the phone was fantastic and very friendly and Brian was very quick to get back to me!!!

They did ask for a credit card number but said it would not be charged until the day the cake was delivered.

Thanks, this is exactly what I'm going to do.

I just ordered a birthday cake for my son. Called the cake hotline and then transferred over to the Poly.

We have a 10 inch, chocolate cake with dark chocolate mousse filling. I think I ordered white whipped frosting. (I'm not picky with frosting!) The edible topper will be Lilo and Stitch doing the hula. I was quoted $45 for the cake, and $10 for the edible topper. I don't have a clue what it'll look like. I just know it's going to be way too much cake for us, but I wanted a custom cake to surprised DS with! He LOVES Stitch! I can't think of a better way to celebrate your birthday...breakfast with Stitch, and a Lilo and Stitch cake for breakfast!!! I will give the rest of the details when we get back. I am SO excited!

Sorry for asking what may seem like a stupid question but can I order a cake and have it delivered to the Swan/Dolphin or does it have to be a Disney owned resort/onsite restaurant?

Thanks.:goodvibes

I believe you cannot order through Disney. You would either have to call the Swan/Dolphin in-room dining and see if they can do anything for you or you can order a cake at the Boardwalk Bakery and pick it up.

hey guys! i know shame on me i still havent loaded up my camo cake, its comign i promise.

have we seen any nemo cakes? i can't remember. were looking at staying for ds's third bday in april and he wants a nemo cake, so im planning now!

I just got off the phone with Pat from GF. I'll be at Citricos Nov 15th and I wanted a nice b-day cake.. ok.. for me!LOL Pat was very nice and helpful. I had said I wanted something bright and cheerful. We chatted a bit and came up with a Nemo cake.
It will be an 8 inch white cake with custard and Strawberries for filling. The outside will be white chocolate ganache. The top of the cake will be a blue swirled fondant. There will be sand/coral etc. Nemo, other sea things of course, and white chocolate shavings around the side of the cake. This will be around $83.00 to be paid at dinner.
I'm just thrilled. I told her to tell the cake decorators to use their imagination. I will for sure post some pics when I return. (am going Nov 10-19).
Pat did stress that she takes the orders but has no control of how they come out. She said she has seen some cakes that she didn't care for, but in her position she is powerless to get changes from the cake decorators if that's the way they want to make the cake. (sounds political in the kitchen).
Anyway I remain hopeful that this cake will be a kick. We were both laughing on the phone over the cake.
She also asked that I call her after I receive the cake to let her know if we liked it.:)
I'm excited. WDW here we come!:dance3:
