The only place I have heard of anyone getting a custom cake in MK is CRT, and even then it seems to depend on who you speak to and on what day. I think the only option at Tony's is a premade celebration cake.

From my experience this isn't true, we ordered a cake for my mother and we had dinner at the Plaza....here is the number to custom cakes for the Magic Kingdom...and be persistant in what you want, they told me they couldn't do fondont but they could...so just "stand your ground" because I asked and was told the MK uses the same bakery for all it's restuarants and their cakes..so if you can get it a CRT you can get it anywhere in MK. Good Luck..here is the direct number to MK cakes = 407.824.7091

Okay, I FINALLY figured out what I wanted and when I wanted it during our trip! (thanks for the opinions and suggestions you guys gave:)

I called cake hotline and asked for Private Dining at AKL. Chef Eugene had already left for the day, so I left my phone number and he called me back the next morning! Very nice and very willing to help make the cake I was thinking of.

The idea for the cake I want came from a cake I saw on these boards. It had green fondant, piped vines and sugar leaves with a tink on top, a banner and some sugar flowers.

I photoshopped the pic alittle to take off the tink and the banner, and I emailed it to the chef. I asked to have a 6 inch cake alot like the picture with the green fondant, sugar leaves and piped vines, but with chocolate animals on top, in yellow cake with chocolate buttercream.

I explained that there are only four of us, (all adults) and that I wanted the cake delivered to my room at 6:15 pm on our day of arrival, at which time we won't be in the room, and also asked that it be charged to the room so I can pay for it myself. It's a "welcome" surprise from me to my cousins.

He said they can definitely make a cake like this in the 6 inch size that he thinks I'll be very happy with. I said I wanted the animals, one in milk chocolate and one in white chocolate. He said he was going to do a zebra and an elephant! They also made note of it as a "first visit". This is the first time I'm bringing my cousins with my DVC membership.

He had someone else call me, (I think her name is Laticia, I unfortunately don't remember) to make sure we could have it in the room at the time I specified and that it can be charged to the room so I can pay it separately.

My date is Sunday November 8th. We'll see what happens, but I'm excited about it!

Approximate charge: 6 inch cake is a set $30.00
Decor is approximately $32. I'm perfectly happy with that!

I'll post how it turns out and a pic!

Did you specifically ask for Chef Eugene? I'm getting ready to order my cake and I want to make sure that I don't get told that all they can do is something with cookies and brownies or a zebra cake. :)

Now just need to decide if I want something with Tink, Goofy, Star Wars or something Lion King-ish. It will be for my birthday and our friends' first trip, but moreso my birthday . Hmmmm... wonder if they could do a Star Wars Goofy with a Darth Vadery Tink with Simba in the background. :rolleyes1

:lmao::lmao:

Cute idea! No I didn't specifically ask for him, but the woman who answered the phone said he was the person I needed to speak to and she took my number for him to call me back.

Personally, and of course this is just my opinion, I'd go with a Lion King design since you'll be at AKL! Have a GREAT BIRTHDAY!

We are at WDW now! My dd's 9th birthday was Tuesday and it was magical. We got our cake at Chef Mickey's and I have to say first that CHEF BRIAN ROCKS!!! The cake was everything and more that I hoped it would be.

Here are the details:
Chef Mickey's at Contemporary. Called the cake hotline, followed the prompts for Contemporary, talked with Sally to order. We ordered a 10 inch marble cake with bavarian creme filling, chocolate gnache icing, and a Halloween theme, it's my dd's favorite holiday and so close to her bday too! The cake was 110$ and worth every penny.

WOW! How did it taste? Very similar to what we are thinking of...not Halloween themed but size and flavors with a different filling...

What a great cake!

Is there a list anywhere of what characters/figures are available as toppers in either the white or regular chocolate and painted or not?

How big are those mad hatter cakes?

Thanks!

Our anniversary cake at Jiko. Theme Jack & Sally, unfortunately I had to use a disposable camera and the photos came out terrible! The cake however was a work of art and we couldn't be more pleased. I am so bummed about the camera quality, but I was able to get a decent snapshot of the topper back at our room!

Cake $4o
Decorations $30

Has anyone ordered a specilaity cake- Gluten free? My DD 6th birthday. Cake needs to be Gluten free.
I am getting one at Jiko's on 11/1. Chef Anthony was a doll! He was VERY accommodating I was almost in tears think how excited my little girl will get a full Gluten free cake for her bday! I will defiantly post info when i get home!

A bunch of great cakes posted!

I also want to say that yes, it is just a cake, BUT, my dd had some problems on her bday with all the attention and actually wanted to take her bday button OFF b/c it was too much for her. She's very shy and does not like to be the center of attention. The cake really MADE her bday b/c we asked that they not sing and just bring it out and it was so special and magical without everyone focusing on her (you couldn't with this gorgeous cake! LOL)

We did have some issues with waiting for the cake to come out and waiting for them to find a box BIG enough for it! but that had to do with CM service, not the cake itself.

This cake is phenomenal!!!! Brian is doing my DD14's cake for our trip in November and it is Nightmare Before Xmas themed! I cannot wait to see what he creates for her!!!

Does any one know if I can have a cake brought to my room at SSR ? I know they have a pretty nice resturant there but I have no idea if they do cakes or not ? I just wanted to get the piped Mickey Head cake one day and then maybe a special Tink Cake .TIA

Cakes for SSR are made at the BoardWalk Bakery. You would need to call Private Dining at SSR and find out if they can deliver one to your room. I have heard of people having this done in the past - I'd just check to be sure!

Does the Boardwalk bakery supply the custom cakes for Epcot? Do they do the same type of custom cakes like the GF does? I'm thinking about next year for my dad's bday. We may not all be going to Narcoossee's. I'm thinking about a mad hatter style cake.

BoardWalk Bakery doesn't supply cakes to Epcot and you cannot get a fancy custom cake like you'd see at the Grand Floridian from Epcot. You *might* be able to get a GF Bakery cake delivered to Epcot for a fee, but I think the reason we were able to do this is that we planned a private event and had a planner to make all the arrangements for us. The best way to get a GF cake is to be dining or staying there. The Contemporary and the Yacht & Beach Club bakeries can also do fancy cakes, and we're seeing more from Animal Kingdom Lodge now too - so dining or staying at one of those resorts is another option.

Alternatively, you could see if the GF Bakery would deliver a cake to Gasparilla Grill so you could pick it up there. :thumbsup2

Does anybody have information on the miniature wedding cakes? DBF saw these recently on TV, and thinks they are amazing. I'd like to have one delivered to my birthday dinner at Chefs de France, is that possible? Also, does anybody know the pricing for these little cakes? TIA! :goodvibes

The mini cakes range from $17-$30, and I've seen them done by the Grand Floridian and BoardWalk bakeries. Epcot's bakery seems to be very limited in its capabilities, but you can always call the Cake Hotline, follow the prompts for Chefs de France, and ask...

We want to get a birthday cake for my DD and DNiece but also want to make a fuss for my Mom who is retiring before we go. I also don't want to get 2 full sized cakes on back to back days etc. Here goes-

Can the slipper be delivered to Olivia's or to our resort room at OKW?

The slipper is only available at the Grand Floridian and Cinderella's Royal Table.

Do they have Winnie the Pooh and friends decorations for customized cakes?

I believe Pooh & Friends are on the list of decorations they can't do, but I'd call and ask cuz you never know when policies will change.

The Mickey Head Cakes- can they be delivered to our resort?
Call private Dining at OKW and see. I believe they get their cakes from BoardWalk Bakery, which does offer Mickey Head cakes.

ok...so my bday cake is ordered!!

BWI IPO brought picture to private dining at Yacht Club for me, as I want it at the steakhouse.

The one I ordered is a picture from here. It was a 25th anniversary one. White fondant w/silver mickeys and a white choc mickey on top. 10 inch..I'm doing this one, except they are going to change up the colors, I want to say purples w/gold mickeys, make it more for a birthday. White choc mouse filling and buttercream under the fondant. cost $100. I'll post pics when I get back!!

YEAH!! very excited.

Here's a few pictures of the monorail themed cake I ordered for DH at the Contemporary last month. It was a ten inch (it was the only size private dining would customize) with marble cake and buttercream. I did ask for the layer of fondant as I thought it would give it a smoother look. All the people I dealt with were very nice and really willing to help. I also gave them free reign and just asked that it be monorailed themed.

The cake was $70.00, and since it was delivered to our room at the Contempory, a delivery fee and gratuity were added. Total was 90.35

Cake was tasty - just a whole lot for two people for just a couple of days! :rotfl:

I've got other cakes that I need to get uploaded from the GF.

I love the monorail! Did you ask for the rocks, grass, and palm tree theme? it makes me think the cake should say, "Welcome to the Polynesian" more than contemporary. Is the yellow part fondant? Thanks for sharing a monorail cake with us. ;)

guys, i know the california grill can do custom cakes, but can they do them for chef mickeys as well? ds wants a nemo cake for his third bday when we go down in april.

I am having a cake made for my son's 15th birthday. We will be having dinner at the California Grill. Brian is making the cake. I asked for a cake with a Walt Disney and Mickey topper. He said he can do it. I can't wait. My son is the biggest Walt Disney fan. He will be very surprised. I will take pictures and post. Our trip is in mid- November.

Twoboysnmygirl that is an awesome cake and your daughter is beautiful!

I am struggling in picking a wedding cake flavor. My DF is not a big fan of chocolate, and I am not sure how I feel about yellow cake. The filling choices all sound amazing, but not sure how they would go with yellow. I was kind of hoping to have white cake as an option.
So here is my question, does anyone have any suggestions for our cake flavors?
DF did say we could maybe do chocolate cake with the white mouse with strawberries in it, but like I said he is not a fan of chocolate at all let alone a full cake of it.

Thanks for your help!

Ok, our trip is coming up, and we leave the day after DHs birthday.. I wasn't planning on doing a custom cake but he kinda moaned last weekend about celebrating his birthday at Disney, what??!!!???

SO, we have chef mickey's booked the evening we arrive, and we are staying at the Contemporary. I know I have to call the cake hotline and follow the prompts... not a problem there...

BUT, what should I order?? THis upcoming trip is mainly for us to see the holiday decorations,,, has there ever been anyone do a toy story theme cake? Buzz or woody? Not sure they can do that due to licensing issues??? I don't mind paying for a custom cake, we did that this summer for our daughter's birthday and it worked out great. So tasty too.

I guess you can tell I have 2 daughters, I am drawing a total blank on "guy" themed cakes, princesses won't cut it!

I am looking thru the thread, but my computer is so slow today!

Thanks for any ideas the experts out there can help me with!!

Mary

I think I said that same thing to DH when we looked past the monorail...that the trees reminded me more of the Poly than the CR. :rotfl: All I asked was for a monorail theme, maybe they had ESP and knew we'd like to stay at the Poly next :confused3 :rotfl2: And yes, the yellow was fondant.

There has been at least one Toy Story cake that I remember seeing on here. Sorry I don't have the page or post number. As far as "guy" themes there's always a pirate theme, Star Wars, one of the villians, Mickey, Donald, etc. There was a really incredible guitar cake posted a few pages back if your DH is into music.

This is one of them...

We celebrated DS Birthday during our trip Sept.9th-18th. Maddox had 2 cakes...one at Chef Mickey's and one at 1900 Park Fare.

The Buzz Lightyear cake was wonderful too but wayyyy too big for just 3 people. It was a 10 inch cake and was huge! It was so good; it was white cake on the inside, frosted in buttercream with fondant accents; cost was 109.00
