Just back from our anniversary trip. Here are the pics of the cake I ordered for our dinner at Narcoossee's. Let me just say it far exceeded my expectations. The pics really don't do it justice. The bakery took it upon themselves to make the gorgeous sugar roses in the middle. You can't see it well in the pics, but they were covered in sparkles. It also tasted fantastic. I was not however prepared for how big it would be. I knew going into it I had to order a 10" to get what I wanted, but it's hard to imagine it until you see it in person. We shared it with friends the next day & had some in the room, but still had 1/2 a cake left. We gave it to bell services when we checked out. Just an FYI if you're ordering a 10" cake & you plan to take the leftovers with you you'll need a full sized refrigerator to store it. Also it was not on my dinner bill. Pat asked me for my credit card when she took the order & said it would be charged the day of. Maybe they've changed their policy & no longer add it to the bill. Too bad because I would have saved 20% with my TIW card. Oh well still worth it!

Here's what I ordered:

10" chocolate cake with amaretto mousse filling & white buttercream - $45
White swags, sugar roses & red mickeys - $30
6 strawberries - $15.00
Total - $90.00

Very pretty cake :thumbsup2

Gee, I wonder what it would look like for the 45.00? Do they even put icing on it?:rotfl2: I may make a run to WalMart! :lmao: It's our 20th wedding anniversary, I have GOT to do something special!

Another question. I would want a white cake with white buttercream icing and some pretty flowers or something sweet & simple. As for the filling, what is the best flavor to get? We like most everything, but I would hate to order something and it taste bad.

First off, I'd call and see what answer you get about the flowers. You might get lucky and told that's included in the $45. As for the filling, I loved the dark chocolate mousse, BUT, we couldn't fit the cake in the fridge without cutting it all up (we didn't have the containers to put it in) so it went bad within a handful of days. We're sticking to chocolate buttercream filling this year, and hoping the cake will last longer.

I know you were kidding w/ the Walmart comment, but if you'll have a car & don't mind going to pick a cake up, I recommend Publix. http://publix.com/food/catalog/Bakery/Home.do We get all our cakes there. They're delicious! I don't know about the ones in Orlando, but our Publix allows us to make special requests w/ no additional charge. For example, we like filling, so I always ask them to double it. They'll also allow you to substitute. Another example, with the decadent desserts, if you want bavarian cream filling in a cake they have chocolate whipped filling in they'll do that. Again, this is my local Publix, but I don't see why others wouldn't also.

Has anyone ever done a Dumbo cake? I was thinking of one for my daughter in August but I do not just want an image on a cake. I want it to be like 3-D. I am hoping it will be able to be done. I wish I could see one before hand!

I am so glad that you pointed that out about the different fillings. I didn't realize that. We will also go with the buttercream filling too. :goodvibes

I may end up doing this for one of the cakes. I want our anniversary cake to be special and delivered at dinner. My mom's b'day cake on the other hand is the one that I was going to "set up" in her room. I could order her's from Publix :)

So I had a dream that Disney made me about 6 cakes, and they were all gorgeous, but I had only wanted two, but for some reason, they lost the one that I really wanted, and were still making me pay for all 6, even though I didn't want them. It was crazy. I think it was because I paid off my trip before going to bed, but didn't receive confirmation, so I was worrying about that.

Okay here's how ours turned out. We were delighted!!!!:goodvibes

To recap - I ordered this custom cake with Pat at the GF -

Location: 1900 Park Fayre dinner.
Flavour: Marble cake with chocolate mousse filling

Cost: $75 + tax.

I love the hat on the cake!!!!! It's so cute! And it seems like all the cakes have had that green balloon - I guess that's part of the "what will you celebrate" thing.

I was at WDW over the weekend and decided to investigate the on-property options for picking up a cake (for those who don’t want to order a cake for a restaurant meal using the Cake Hotline or for their hotel room using Private Dining at their resort). Most of this info has been mentioned on this thread before, but I thought I’d put it all together in one post (also, I scored a copy of BoardWalk Bakery’s cake order sheet, so I’ll post that below!)

In a nutshell, only the BoardWalk Bakery offers fancy cakes for pickup, and those must be ordered 48 hours in advance. (The cakes on display at the bottom of the case are not for sale.)

The Main Street Bakery in the Magic Kingdom offers only 6-inch Sara Lee cakes for pickup, and I was told you need to give them a few hours’ notice so they can defrost the cake for you. They also have simple pre-made cakes at some of the resort food courts. The only one I investigated was Pop Century’s, so I’ll put that info below.

BoardWalk Bakery
There are no readymade cakes for sale here except the frozen 6-inch ones you can also get at restaurant podiums, but with 48 hours’ notice you can arrange to pick up a fresh cake. I’ll post their cake ordering form below, but the basic options are

6-inch readymade cake (frozen cake) - $21+ tax
  • serves 4-6
  • no special decorations
  • Vanilla Cake/Vanilla Buttercream only
  • no advance notice

6-inch fresh cake - $21+tax
  • serves 4-6
  • no special decorations
  • Vanilla Cake/Vanilla Buttercream OR Chocolate Cake/Chocolate Buttercream
  • 48-hour notice required

8-inch fresh cake - $32+tax
  • serves 8
  • no special decorations
  • Vanilla/White Chocolate Filling/White Chocolate Icing OR Chocolate/Dark Chocolate Filling/Dark Chocolate Icing
  • 48-hour notice required

Mickey head cake - 48+tax
  • serves 8 (chepic reports it may serve 14-16!)
  • no special decorations
  • Vanilla Cake or Chocolate Cake
  • 48-hour notice required

Special Cakes
  • prices vary
  • special decorations are extra
  • 48-hour notice required

10-inch, serves 16: $45 for cake + $30 for decorations

1/4 sheet, serves 20: $55 for cake + $35 for decorations

1/2 sheet, serves 40: $80 for cake + $40 for decorations

Full sheet, serves 80: $120 for cake + $55 for decorations

Cake Flavors

They had a Mickey head cake and a princess-themed cake on display at the bottom of the case (sorry the pic doesn’t show them that well!)

And they appeared to be working on a custom cake that day.

Main Street Bakery at the Magic Kingdom
The only cakes available for pickup here are the 6-inch frozen Sara Lee cakes that you can order at the podium at any MK restaurant. They cost $21 + tax and require a few hours’ notice if you want them defrosted first. Here’s a picture of the frozen cake we got at the podium at Tony’s Town Square (plus some Halloween sprinkles). If you like supermarket cake, you will like the Sara Lee cakes.

Value Resort Food Courts
The only place I investigated was Pop Century, but I would imagine the All-Stars have similar offerings. There were two kinds of 6-inch cake in the refrigerated case near the bottled drinks: Vanilla Cake w/ Vanilla Buttercream and Chocolate Cake with Chocolate Buttercream. These also appear to be Sara Lee cakes. The price is $21 + tax.

Do you have a price range for the cake you want?

I am sure if you call the cake hotline or the GF bakery they can help you with something. The reason I was asking about price range is Pat handles the custom and speciality cakes for the GF. They do get a lot more pricey then the podium cakes :lmao:

It's only the 3 of us, so I don't want anything too huge, but I definitely want it to be special for my DD's birthday. So I am thinking the $100 or less range. Having it delivered to GF would work, but I'm really hoping to have it delivered to CRT for dinner. Think they can do this?

After weeks of agonizing, we finally decided on GF Cafe for our anniversary. DH doesn't know it but I pushed this so that I can get the cake that I want to surprise him with. :rolleyes1 Lame, I know but it's all about the cake..... :wizard:

There are so many pages to this thread and I apologize if someone has answered this question already (probably a zillion times) but how far in advance do I need to place the order with the GF bakery? I'm not even sure that I can get exactly what I want so if anyone knows, I'd appreciate the inforamtion. I want..........

10 inch white cake
amaretto mousse filling
buttercream frosting
white fondant with stamped Mickey heads
either a white chocolate Mickey on top or a Mickey Bride/Groom

I am surprising DH with a Wishes cruise after dinner so I have to think up something to say when he sees the size of the cake and I have a hissy fit when he wants to cut into it. There will be 7 of us on the cruise (my mom and inkedupmomma and her family) and it will be after dinner so I want to try and take the cake with me. Hopefully they will let me do that?

Thanks in advance for any information.

The cake was delicious. We didnt eat any at 1900 we boxed it and took it back to our villa. It lasted about 10 days and remained fresh throughout.

Thanks for the kind comments:goodvibes

We're at Disney to celebrate DS's 21st birthday. :bday: Originally I ordered a 10" custom cake from YC/BC (white cake, white buttercream icing & Tigger on top). Realizing we'd only eat a few pieces and DS wouldn't care if Tigger was on the cake, I changed my order to an all-white 8" cake. Problem was the icing's white chocolate - which DS really doesn't like. I was told I'd have to order a custom cake in order to get white buttercream. :sad2:

Disappointed, I walked over to Boardwalk Bakery, and they were happy to give us buttercream in place of the usual white chocolate for the same price. It looked great & was delicious. :goodvibes

But the best part was that we really surprised DS. All week he'd seen people receive cakes and was afraid we'd embarrass him with a cake. :scared1: When nothing came, he finally relaxed. So last night I suggested we go to Beaches & Cream for icecream; while waiting for a table, DH & I walked over to Boardwalk Bakery, picked up the cake, handed it to the hostess at Beaches without DS seeing. As you know whenever someone gets a Kitchen Sink, they lower and flash the lights, ring a bell and announce that a table is about to eat the Kitchen Sink. Well they did all of that and then announced it was Matt's 21st Birthday and delivered the cake and a balloon. DS's mouth dropped open, everyone sang happy birthday - it was a great moment, DS was so surprised but didn't feel embarrassed.

So if your kids are super embarrassed to get a birthday cake in public, consider Beaches. :thumbsup2 They'll never expect it, it's a party atmosphere, everyone gets involved and the staff will make it really special. party:

Can anyone help me out with the info I need to call and order a cake or dessert from CRT?!
What they have to choose from and can I order if now?! We are still 3 weeks out is that ok?!

Hi! I'd call Pat at GF Private Dining at least 2 weeks out for this. They can actually deliver it straight to the boat for you if you're meeting your Wishes Cruise at the GF - just let her know that's what you want. :thumbsup2

From what I've read most people get the white chocolate slipper and the dark chocolate one was a complete surprise to all that received it and a rare occurance.

Not sure if you can call and request one or the other or if its up to them.

White chocolate is what you will get. The dark/milk chocolate slipper was fazed out after it was determined white looked better (even though the milk chocolate tatsed better)

Can someone tell me how to go about ordering the slipper dessert at CRT with the dk chocolate slipper. I've called CRT, MK and CR bakeries and they tell they don't exist.

Only the white chocolate slipper is available. (the white chocolate does NOT taste very good at all. White "chocolate" is not really chocolate at all and has a waxy taste to it, so don't plan on eating the slipper or the little white castle toppers or the 7" tall Mickeys as you WILL be dissapointed in the taate)
